After Max shouted for the man to stop, time seemed to enter into a standstill as both sides are inspecting each other.

This is the first time Max is facing a villain after the incident with Yann and Bonio. He isn’t panic even though the villain has a hostage with him. It is all because he has matured from that time.

The first thing that Max needs to do when facing the villain is to make sure that Thea is safe. No matter what he does, he should prioritize the safety of the civilians.

Secondly, if he wants to have a long career as a hero, he needs to rescue Thea without suffering any injury on himself. If a hero keeps on getting injured when doing a mission, it can be said that their hero career won’t last long since there will be an accumulation of damage to the body.

Thirdly, one of the arts of war said know thyself, know thy enemy. To ensure a victory, a full grasp on the situation is needed. Max is fully aware of his own capabilities that should be around C-rank. However, he doesn’t know anything about the opponent that he is facing right now.

From what he heard from Thea’s Mama, she was feeling a sensation of being electrified. This need to be verified whether it comes from a weapon or it was the kidnapper’s ability. This will determine whether the kidnapper using a stun gun to support his body manipulation ability or it comes from a lightning element-based ability.

If it was the former, it can be said that Max needs to maintain range with the opponent since he will be adept in close combat that suited his body manipulation ability that might enhance his strength or speed.

If it was the latter, it is giving Max more headache since there is no way to stop lightning using the wind. Although wind is one of the swiftest elementals but it wasn’t the fastest. There’re still light, sound, and many more with lightning is one of them.

“Are you a hero? Your costume is unique enough to make you recognizable but I don’t recall ever reading about you. You must be an insignificant hero then, a small fry. Stop blocking the way if you don’t want to die.”

“Indeed, I am a hero. If you haven’t known about me before, then you will never forget my name since I will be the one who put you behind the bars.”

“hahaha. How funny. Anyway, I don’t have time to waste. Quickly make way.”

“I can let you leave but you need to leave the girl here with me.”

“Oh, so you’re coming after me because you are trying to rescue the girl. I thought that a patrolling hero recognizes me and coming after my head for the bounty.”

After hearing the kidnapper said that, Max becomes warier. Judging from the way he talks and being fearless, this isn’t his first offence. Not to mention he is saying that he thought that Max recognizes his identity hence coming after him.

It means that the person that Max is facing is dangerous enough to be remembered by patrolling heroes. However, Max has zero knowledge about who this person is and any other information.

This is a mistake that is to be expected as Max isn’t someone who formally received training from the United Heroes school. If he entered the school, he will know that knowledge is power and before starting their patrol, it is normal for a hero to remember the information and faces of the villains that are last seen within their patrolling area.

They could even remember the villains from further away and there is a special reason for this. Firstly, when the villain is blending with the crowd and disguising as a normal people, the hero will be able to recognize him.

Secondly, knowing about the information means knowing the details of the villain. For example, their signature move, basic ability, strength and weakness. It will help the heroes to prepare in their battle against the villain since they will know about the opponent habit and trump card.

However, there is no medicine for regret as what Max need to do right now is just facing the enemy straight-on. He can only pray that the villain that he is facing is only D-rank or C-rank. If the enemy is at the level of B-rank or A-rank, Max could forget about rescuing Thea, moreover, he couldn’t even guarantee his safety.

From the way the villain’s talk, Max could see that he is someone who is arrogant and he is afraid that this man is indeed having a high rank.

“I don’t care about the bounty nor know who you are. I just want you to leave the girl here and you can go.”

“Ooh! How courageous you are! Look, this is how a hero should act. Usually, every small fry hero that saw me immediately pissed their pants or flee as far as they can. It may be because you are ignorant. I won’t blame you since ignorance is bliss. If you know who I am, I believe you wouldn’t even dare to spout those word.”

“So what if you’re strong or scary? I won’t change the fact that I am a hero and I need to save that girl that you kidnap.”

“Is it a heroic act or an idiotic act? Let me see what you’re going to do after knowing who I am. Boy, judging from your voice, you should be a new hero and barely reach the D-rank. After all, C-rank heroes and higher won’t bother patrolling the streets. Even D-rank heroes that almost rank up to C rarely wandering around anymore.”

“Cut the crap! Just leave the girl and I won’t catch you today.”

“hahaha. Still acting tough. Listen to me, boy. My name is Crawley the lightning terror. Let me tell you, greenhorn, I am a C-rank and don’t think you can defeat me if you’re lucky as I am not a new C-rank. I can be said as a veteran C-rank and my danger level could be increased to B-rank anytime now. Do you hear that? So, why are you still here? Scram if you don’t want to die!”
