Max and Giovanni vs Richard III

Richard’s blade could pierce through Max’s and Giovanni’s defense not only because of the blade's unique material but also because of his stats. As Elrisa predicted, there is a particular reason why Richard became the representative of the evil mastermind.

It is no doubt that his power is above A-rank. The reason why he is so confident in facing Giovanni and Max is because Richard’s strength stat is on S-rank. Little did he know that the two newbie heroes in front of him also have the same quality of abilities. Giovanni with his S-rank speed and Max with his possibility of S-ranked sensitivity after his enlightenment.

For teenagers like them, possessing an S-ranked ability is something very rare. That is why Richard never imagined that Max and Giovanni also have S-ranked stats. After all, Richard himself is the best newcomer among the Evil Mastermind recruits so far, and that is why he dares to come to this place after defeating all of his peers.

Max and Giovanni suffered from the attack just now, but they can’t relax for a moment. That is because the blades that Richard sent out are still moving around the stadium, aiming for them.

Once again, the sharp blades are going towards them. It was hard for Max to dodge since the blade itself doesn’t cause a lot of movement in the air. Usually, Max could detect the movement of elementals. However, since the blade itself doesn’t have any elements in them, Max couldn’t sense the movement of the blade. Only from the slight disturbance in the air, which is too little for him to detect and dodge on time.

Giovanni, on the other hand, is having it worse. He believes that the lights on his hand could block the dagger earlier. It resulted in two new holes on his palm that is bleeding profusely. Giovanni’s light shield could defend against elemental attacks. This is the first time he has failed to protect himself from such an attack, and it will be a good lesson for him in the future. His light shield is still not perfect, and he should not let his guard down and be more careful.

Looking at the hovering blade, Max thinks of a new idea.

“Since I couldn’t stop his attack regardless, how about I go for a suicide attack? I will try to attack him when he attacks instead. I doubt he could attack and defend at the same time.”

While Max is thinking about what to do next, Giovanni's condition is much worse than him.

“My light shield can’t be used with my palm in this condition. I will have to try to dodge the next attack.”

Richard didn’t give them more time to think of a counter move as he pointed his finger at them again.

“Pierce!”

With an almost inaudible swooshing sound, the blades move towards Max and Giovanni. As they have planned earlier, Giovanni’s body flickered several times on the arena as he is trying to dodge the attack. On the other hand, Max gets fully focused as he is looking for a space to launch his attack.

He still raised a wind wall as a pretense and to make sure that he will be able to survive. He needs to prevent a fatal attack from reaching his vital organs. If not, it will only be a suicide attack.

The blades arrived, and Giovanni’s flashing body managed to dodge it this time. On the other hand, Max managed to avoid narrowly as the blade grazed his neck while he also launched wind bullets towards Richard at the same time.

Giovanni realized what Max is trying to do. He followed suit behind as this is a chance that they shouldn’t miss.

Max’s wind bullet is heading straight towards Richard. He is surprised as he never thought that Max would attack him at the same time as he got attacked. As Max thought before, Richard can’t attack and defend at the same time yet. This is the biggest weakness that he has right now. The evil mastermind has some plan to improve this side of him, but they haven’t got enough time yet. After all, what they did so far is to increase his strength stat to S-rank to ensure that he will have a clear advantage over the other newcomer.

Richard is thinking about what to do. Although he is surprised, he didn’t panic at all. With his free hand, he takes out a device from his pocket. It was a metallic box that transformed miraculously into a shield.

Max’s air bullets hit the shield, but the power isn’t enough to break through it. However, Max’s strategy is a success. After all, he wasn’t alone in this battle. Richard doesn't even realize that Giovanni, who managed to dodge his attack earlier, is now behind him.

Despite the two wind holes on his palm Giovanni still forces his hand to move forward. He gathered his hand together and made an open claw. From there, dense light is collected. Just like his light ray attack, but it packed so much power this time.

If what Giovanni performed before is at the guns level, he is bringing out the cannon right now. His astonishing S-ranked speed overshadows Giovanni’s other stats. However, the rest of his ability doesn’t rest solely on his speed.

Just like the move that he is about to perform right now. Even Max from afar could feel that the power that Giovanni performed is at the C-rank. After all, the United Heroes association gathers the stats from when the hero examination test is done. Most of them surely grown throughout the years, just like Max.

Richard can feel the movement of elementals behind him, but it was too late. S-rank speed isn’t only for movement, but it is also for the rate at which one’s move could be performed. It was too fast for Richard to raise any defense. The last thing he saw is a bright light that covered his sight.
