Battle to decide top 8

Max and Linda looked at each other, and as if they have come into an agreement, they made their move at the same time. Linda doesn’t even seem to be running as the shadow below her allowed her the slide effortlessly on the ground.

On the other hand, Max is running forward with the wind boosting his speed as it accompanied his every step and pushed him quicker and quicker.

Linda pointed her spear towards Max while he used his right hand, holding the concentrated ball of wind to clash against the spear. When the shadow spear and wind ball come into contact with each other, neither side is backing down.

Linda and Max are now at a stalemate as both of their finishing moves are in confrontation. However, it seemed that Max’s power is greater than Linda as her spear is slowly disintegrating at the point of contact.

Linda’s spear that is originally two meters long, is now only half a meter. The rest of it is gone, chipped away by Max’s concentrated ball of wind. When it was only 10 centimetres away from the handle, Linda knows that her loss is approaching, so she gives up.

Max understand that as he feels that she didn’t resist anymore, so Max controlled his concentrated wind ball to disappear slowly. The referee also realizes the situation and quickly announce Max as the winner.

“Sixteenth match, Air hero versus Shadow Dancer. Air Hero wins.”

After the winner is announced, Max offered his hand and shook hands with Linda.

“Good fight.”

“You too, Max. I know that you’re hiding your power, but I never think that the disparity between our strength is that big.”

“Nah, I’m just lucky that my special move is a little bit more powerful.”

Max then gets out of the arena since for today, the battle to decide the top 8 will be done today too. There is still more match coming in, and he will need to fight in the second round against Iki. Back into his waiting room, a medical pod is already waiting there. This is to make sure that he is in prime condition when he proceeds to the next round.

Iki also watches the match closely since the winner of the battle will be his next opponent.

“It seemed that he has greater strength than displayed on his hero license. His power is at D+ at least. However, he just has bad luck since his next opponent is me. No matter what, his wind ability is inferior to my fire element. He will have to experience his move being devoured by mine and makes mine even stronger.”

Everyone who watches Max versus Linda also think the same when they know that Max is the one who wins the match. If it was Linda who wins, she might have a chance to win against Iki since her element has neither advantages nor disadvantages against Iki’s fire element. However, for Max that have a wind element to fight against Iki, nobody will bet on his win even if the payout is great.

After that, the crowd is going wild once more. That is because the one which is proceeding for the next match is Giovanni. Those who saw the tournament schedule and standing didn’t doubt that Giovanni would become the left bracket winner. While for the right bracket, too many strong contenders are competing over there. Elica, Kieran, and Iki all would need to prove their worth to face Giovanni on the final.

Giovanni’s match proceeds without any hiccup, and to nobody surprise, he wins the match easily. His opponent used water elements and proved to be ineffective in stopping Giovanni’s attack.

Giovanni’s attack easily pierces through the opponent defence, and he managed to secure his spot on the top 8. Elica also secured her spot on the top 8 after defeating a hero called Deep Blue. Deep Blue is someone who used water element ability, and it can be said that he is having an even worse matchup than Iki against Max.

His water element ability absolutely does nothing to Elica as his water is frozen before it could even get near her. Thus, Elica secured her win dominantly.

“Next match, Howling Lion versus Strong Guy.”

Kieran has his match against a D-rank hero named Strong Guy. It is proven to be an interesting match since Strong Guy is a hero that is focusing on body manipulation like Jhonny and the S-rank Alexandra.

This is also a match worth watching since Kieran’s close combat ability will be tested to the limit. Strong Guy, as someone who focused on body manipulation, excelled in martial arts and close-range combat.

When the match started, Strong Guy takes out his weapon that is a tonfa. He didn’t dilly dally and immediately ran towards Kieran. Kieran opened his mouth, and Strong Guys crossed his arm and tonfa in front of him as a shield when he saw that.

*Bam*

Loud noise can be heard as Strong Guy is pushed back a few steps. However, he doesn’t seem to suffer any injury, and this is something that he has anticipated to defend against. He saw how Kieran defeat Aqua Lady in the previous match and knows that Kieran’s sound ability can be used to attack from a long-range.

This one attack pattern of Kieran has been analyzed by the heroes present as they prepared to go against him. This is why Strong Guy could defend against it. Strong Guy also recovered very fast as he is already running forward again after pushed back.

Kieran, this time goes into a battle stance as he prepared for close combat entanglement. Strong Guy arrived in front of Kieran and executed a punch that Kieran tried to block. Upon contact, Kieran’s palm that is used to stop the attack was thrown backwards as the force of the attack is greater than what he could take.

Strong Guys didn’t stop there as he is going to execute a follow-up attack. This time, Kieran opened his mouth and looked at the ground. Immediately, his body is thrown backwards as he used the force of his skill to escape the close combat.
