This is the second ability that Kieran showed during the competition. Other than for offensive moves, his sound ability is able to help him executes movement ability. Strong Guy didn’t get fazed at all since he is now already beside Kieran again with a stomp of his foot.
He launches a low sweeping kick, and Kieran dodged by jumping on the spot. Strong Guy finished his spin and about to throw a punch, yet Kieran used his ability to get away once more.
This time, it can be said that Kieran is under pressure and on the losing end of the battle. Therefore, he needed to do something to turn the tide of the fight and win the match.
Kieran, this time take a deep breath to the point that his chest is coming outwards. After that, he screamed although nobody could hear his voice. But, strangely enough, Strong Guy that is standing not far from him, seemed to hear something as he covered his ears with both hands.
Strong Guy seemed to be the only one that bears the brunt of the attack.
“Gaaah!”
He is actually the only one screaming out loud. Staggered a few steps back, and he coughed out blood from his mouth. It seemed that he had suffered some internal injury. Sound could be transmitted through air, liquid, or even solid matter. It might not seem powerful, but the vibration sent by the sound could damage internal organs and even make an explosion.
After that, Strong Guy fell to his knees and seemed to be struggling. He tried to stand back up again, but Kieran launch another sound attack at him, and this time Strong Guy is hit by the same attack that takes out Aqua Lady. The referee soon announces his win.
“Howling Lion versus Strong Guy. Howling Lion wins.”
With this, it is already determined that the Iki versus Max match winner will face Kieran next to find the top 4 nominees. Everyone else also knows that in order to get the top 2 spots in the right bracket, they need to defeat Elica next. Although Elica still has another person she needs to defeat, everyone already predicts her win since her ice element is just dominating. However, some still root for Electroman that have a unique lighting element to put up a fight.
“Next match, Flamefist Iki versus Air Hero.”
Nobody predicts that Max will win this one, but they still want to see a good battle regardless. Wind against fire, the outcome is just too predictable for everyone.
Max is already prepared since he had got out of the medical pods a long time ago. Stepping on the field, he saw Iki already waiting for him.
“Let’s have a good fight.”
“Yep. I will do my best.”
“Match starts in 3…2…1.”
As the battle started, Iki is going full throttle from the beginning. His body immediately gets covered in fire. It seemed that he wanted to finish the match as fast as possible and show his dominance towards the crowd. In Iki’s eye, Max is now a stepping stone that could allow him to show his brilliance to the people.
Seeing that Iki is approaching him very fast, Max moves backwards to maintain his distance from him. He threw a few wind bullets towards Iki, but it all disappeared when it touched his fire.
“Looks like I will have a tough fight against Iki.”
This is the first time Max is facing someone of fire element as his opponent. He never got the chance to fight someone or spar with another fire element hero. With Yuna, he cooperates with her and realizes how fire power is boosted by the wind. He experienced it first hand now, how elemental weakness works.
Max is thinking hard about what he can do to fight against Iki. If he uses his wind gauntlets to stop Iki, he is afraid that Iki’s fire armour will swallow up all his wind. He also can’t defend against Iki’s attack head-on since blocking will still damage him with the fire.
Right now, they are moving in a circle since Iki can’t catch up with him. But, unfortunately, the wind element is one of the fastest in terms of movement speed. So it won’t be easy for Iki to chase him if Max is hell-bent on running around.
“I didn’t know that you are such a coward!”
Iki is giving provocation in order to force Max to fight him. However, he didn’t take the bait.
“I can just wait for you to run out of energy. Maintaining that fire armour around your body should be draining your energy fast.”
Iki flinched a little when he heard Max saying that because it is true. Max only spends a small amount of energy as he runs around, while Iki spends a lot more with the fire armour. Even if his energy is at C-rank, the expenditure is considerable.
Seeing that, Iki is now launching fireballs towards him as they run. Max can easily dodge them since it was only an attack out of desperation. However, Max knows that he will need to think quickly as he couldn’t let this persist.
The only way for wind to win against fire is to blow the fire with enough force. However, at the same rank, it is impossible. Not to mention that Iki’s energy is at C-rank. At this point, Max is already run out of an idea. When he looked at Iki, he then remembers something from his class way back in elementary school.
Fire existed because it burned the oxygen in the air. Although Max didn’t know how to separate the oxygen, can he create a mini vacuum space without air by using the wind?
By creating a spinning wind tunnel, the air will go in from one side and goes out from another. If he creates a spinning wind ball just like his attack that he uses against Linda, enlarge the size but change the purpose from attacking to enclosing the air in one space, will he be able to achieve his goal?
With a new trick in mind, Max decided to try it out on a tiny scale at first. Looking at Iki that is throwing fireballs at him, should he try it out there?
“Hmm. I think I should try my theory on the fireball first. If I succeed, then I can try trapping Iki next.”
