Max vs Chloe

Then the match started. Max versus Chloe. Facing Chloe that is looking at him with a cold eye, Max feels that he already knows what the things that Chloe is capable of are. She probably used some of her skills like the water shield and her finishing move, the tidal wave. With that, Max feels a little bit calmer facing her compared to when he meets Heinrich earlier.

“Although we’re a teammate earlier, I won’t go easy on you. You should surrender now.”

“Don’t worry, Chloe. I will make sure to do the same. We never know who is going to win or lose yet.”

“Hmph. You’re dreaming if you think you can win over me.”

As soon as the battle started, Max tried to probe Chloe and make her agitated by sending wind bullets one after another. But, with a swipe of her hand, a round shield made of water appeared in front of her, and it fended the attack easily.

Max tried to unleash a wind cannon this time while didn’t stop sending small attacks through wind bullet. Chloe, who realized what he is trying to do, isn’t afraid at all as she conjures a sphere of water to cover herself. This time, her defence is stronger than earlier while she continues to put more energy into it. She is making sure that Max’s attack won’t be able to penetrate her defences.

Max wind cannon is launched towards Chloe, and it couldn’t pierce through the water barrier around Chloe. Knowing that his attack failed, Max need to change his strategy. The long-ranged attack won’t work against Chloe since she is a long-range battler. That way, Max need to bring her out of her comfort zone if he wanted to win.

Getting into close-range combat against her is a good idea since from two team battles so far, Chloe seemed to be bad at the close-range fight. This time, Max summoned his wind gauntlet and moves toward Chloe. Chloe had seen this move earlier when Max secured their team win against Hyacinth.

She knows how strong it is since it could enable Max to fight against Hyacinth’s pet bird. However, Chloe also realizes that Max is trying to force her into fighting in close range. Because of that, Chloe needs to retreat or forces Max to do so.

Chloe chose the former. Backing out isn’t like her style, and her pride didn’t allow her to lose to Max. she prepares her move, and when Max is five meters away from her, two streams of water comes out from behind her, just like a mini water dragon that is swarmling towards Max.

“Sh*t!”

Max didn’t think that Chloe dares to wait until he arrived up close before executing her move. He thought that she would try to retreat, and then he will try to find an opening. But, unfortunately, it seemed that his decision to come up close had become a two-edged sword as it makes it easier for Chloe to aim at him too.

Max can only use the wind gauntlet to stop the two streams of water. Although it could stop the attack, Max is pushed back as the water attack put pressure on his body. Finally, after he pushed back twenty meters, the water stream attack stopped.

Max tried to approach Chloe once more, but he realizes that Chloe is nowhere to be seen. When he is busy defending, Chloe uses this opportunity to get away from him. Chloe is also someone who graduated from the academy and once become Heinrich’s rival. It seemed that her basic is solid and what she showed so far is only a fraction of her ability.

“It’s a good strategy to try and approaches me. However, it would be best if you didn’t look down on me, thinking that I am that easy to bully. Earlier, I can’t perform my best just because of the arena restriction.”

Chloe was already channelling her next attack when she finished conjuring the two water streams. So right now, it is all ready to be unleashed. Max couldn’t see her right now. However, she talked just now, so he tried to turn his head towards the sound direction. He is surprised to see that nobody is there.

Right at that moment, a water blade comes slicing through the air and hit his back. Unfortunately, it hit him squarely, and if it weren’t for his hero costume, there would be a significant cut wound on his back, and he will be bleeding profusely.

Max’s body is propelled two meters forward since the attack is coming from his back, and he rolled on the ground a few meters from the force of the impact. Then, without giving any time for Max to rest, when he is trying to get up, a large amount of water comes from above, pressing his body onto the ground and at the same time, he couldn’t even move.

Never in Max’s wildest dream, he imagines the result to be like this. He just won against Heinrich earlier, and it might be making him a little bit complacent. However, facing Chloe, he never see that it will be a one-sided battle without any chance for him to retaliate.

Max knows that it wasn’t the time to be panicking but thinking even calmer than usual to escape this situation. He immediately summoned the wind armour. Not only it increases his defence, but it also boosted his speed. He decided that once this attack ends, he will immediately get away to get some distance from Chloe and reset the battle.

He waited, but the water pressure never ends. On the contrary, it gets even more potent as time goes by.

“Max, you better surrender now. This move of mind won’t end unless I run out of energy.”

Hearing Chloe explains her skill. Max knows that the chance that he is waiting for won’t come if he sits still. So he then tried to use more power in the wind armour to break free of the situation.

He channelled his power into the wind armour, and at the same time, instantaneously kicked the ground and managed to get himself out of the pouring water. He looked at it and saw that Chloe that he is looking for all this time is nearby the pouring water, putting her hands on it to pour power as it continues to pressure him earlier.

“Da*n. I didn’t see her. If I realize she is there, I won’t escape this way.”

Regretting it won’t do anything good, so the best thing he could do is proceed more cautiously to turn the match around.
