“God, I can’t believe that I have to explain this to a D-rank hero.”
Rika once again mocked Max before anything else.
“You know that some elements have restrictive value to others, just like how water suppress fire and water itself is a bad matchup against lightning. However, some elements also have another relationship where they could boost each other power. For example, your wind power can boost Yuna’s fire move.”
Rika then showed a video in front of Max where two heroes can be seen. One of the heroes is executing a wind blade move, and the other hero is launching a fireball after it. The moment the fireball come upon contact with the wind blade, it consumed the wind blade, and the power of the fireball increased tremendously.
The second video is more mindblowing as the first hero summoned the wind and started a mini tornado in front of him. Then, the second hero launches a breath of fire that instantly turned the tornado into a firestorm.
By looking at it, Max understands how a move can significantly be enhanced if the elements are compatible. It wasn’t just wind and fire that could cooperate like this. Water and lightning, earth and fire, wind and earth, and many more; joint attack cooperation could be made if they are in sync and compatible.
“I understand. Although I have never done it before, I will do my best.”
“Okay, let’s not waste any more time and let’s head out to district 8. We will finish this mission quickly.”
Rika, as the overseer, doesn’t go with them to the scene as she will be helping them from the base and operates the computer to give support. Max was thinking about how they will go to district eight that might take two hours on a public bus. However, his question is solved when Joey is already prepared a car for their transportation.
As a runner, Joey’s job list includes arranging transportation to the mission location, and the Rising Star Agency has allocated a car for Yuna’s team. This is the power of a big agency as everything has been well prepared.
“Joey, take route six and proceed to the highway. You will arrive at the location in roughly 45 minutes.”
“Understood.”
Even while they are on the road to the location, Rika still monitored everything from the base. On the road, as there’s nothing to talk about, the situation turned awkward. Yuna finally speaks out to lighten the atmosphere.
“Air, about ‘that’, are you still looking for them?”
Max immediately realized that what Yuna asked him is about Lindt and Vanya. He doesn’t have anything to hide from Yuna, so he tells him the truth.
“I’ve promised big sis Kalina not to look at the case for now. At least, not until I reach A-rank.”
“Hmm. If that’s what the teacher has decided, then I guess my current ability is still far from sufficient to start looking into it again. Now that I think about it, I was foolish to investigate it on my own three years ago.”
“Well, I’m naïve too. Thinking that I could handle it and exact revenge. But, thinking on it again, revenge isn’t a heroic trait.”
“Now that you put it that way, I understand why at the school they have a saying that never gets blinded by anger. We need to maintain our calm and assess the situation, or else we’ll be repeating our mistake.”
Looking out of the car’s window, Yuna remembered the event that happened three years ago. At that time, as a rising newcomer in the heroes world, she has her pride and naturally overrated her own ability. As a result, she thinks that she is invincible and heroes’ world is just a playground with no villains around capable enough to kill her.
But she was wrong. The incidents have been a valuable lesson for her, and since then, she looked at the heroes’ world differently. She didn’t skimp on her training and make sure that her basics are solid. She also started to take each mission seriously where previously she is just doing it to make sure that she earns enough money. That is a good wake up call and makes her who she is now.
Without them realizing, they have already arrived at district eight, where the mission will be conducted.
“Joey, stop at the convenience store in front.”
Rika gives the order back from the base as she is busy trying to get access to the store’s CCTV system.
“Alright, I’ve confirmed that this is the convenience store that Death Doctor visited. Yesterday, he was seen buying his breakfast around this time. Once he is spotted, Yuna should follow him and apprehend him at an empty lot nearby. The lot is 100 meters from this place. Air, you will make sure that no civilians will be implicated. Then, when the battle started, you will evacuate the people from the perimeter. Joey, you will be on standby and cooperate with the police to handle the situation. When the battle started, I will notify the police immediately.”
“Understood.”
Right now, the three of them is waiting for the Death Doctor to show up, and they didn’t need to wait for long. Rika’s intelligence is spot on, and the Death Doctor was seen entering the convenience store.
“Air, please wait outside the car. I want to change into my costume first.”
Max didn’t realize it before, but Yuna was still wearing her casual clothes. As a gentleman, he stepped out of the car and decided to hide nearby as he watches the convenience store to make sure that Death Doctor won’t get away.
“Okay, I’m done changing.”
“The Death Doctor is now paying for his stuff at the cashier. He will go out of the convenience store soon.”
As the Death Doctor goes out of the convenience store, it is time for Yuna to tail him, and as she stepped out of the car, this is the first time he saw her in her hero’s outfit.
They say that clothes make the man, but it also applies to woman. Yuna looked entirely different from before. If previously she looked cute and pretty, right now she has transformed into a Valkyrie. Just like an angel that is prepared to go to war.
Her costume is a red leather suit with a black accent. There're no-frills or decoration for ease of movement, but the skin-tight design displayed her assets very well. Max is speechless as he is looking at Yuna. She is gallant yet elegant at the same time.
“Okay, it’s showtime.”
