Max's new ride

After locating his phone inside his room, Max dialed Marie’s number. The first call connected to a voice mail, and it makes him worried.

“Did something happened to her?”

Max tried to call her again, and thankfully it connected this time.

“Marie? Are you okay?”

“Yes, I’m fine. How about you, Max? I tried to access information about yesterday's incident, but the information that I could get from the United heroes database is limited.”

“I’m currently in the healing ward. What about you? Didn’t the Evil mastermind come to the supporter competition?”

“No. although they appeared at several places yesterday, they didn’t come to the support competition. I guess they didn’t take us supporters seriously.”

“That’s good, though. If not, the association will suffer more if we lost our supporters. How about the competition?”

“I managed to get into 16th place. After all, you know that I still couldn’t operate the computer very well. If it’s only information gathering contest without a computer, I believe I could win it. However, since the computer is involved, I lost to my opponent as he could gather information from the database faster than I could.”

“You’re doing great! To be honest, I expected you to win, but since the computer is involved, there’s nothing we could do. Don’t worry. I know that your memory is the best.”

Max didn’t forget to praise Marie as he is planning to build up Marie’s confidence. Placing in 16th place should also boost her confidence considerably. After all, when he first met her, she is a shy girl who lacks self-confidence. Looking at her now, she sure has come a long way. Max also doesn’t forget to ask about the interrogation as he explained the situation.

“So, can you look up and see if there’s an ability to take control of someone while at the same time increasing their ability?”

“I will look into it. If that’s all, you should take time to rest more.”

“Yeah, you’re right. I’ll end the call here.”

Max then looked at the blue sky as he let out a sigh. Although he managed to defeat Richard after joining hands with Giovanni, he realized how weak he is. Although he fell into some kind of enlightenment state, he is far from strong.

After he comes out of the enlightenment, he feels that he could defeat everyone standing before him, but the truth said otherwise. Just a newbie from the Evil mastermind managed to push himself into the wall and end up in a precarious position. Thinking of his enemy, Lindt, and Vanya that is clearly much stronger than Richard, Max clenches his fist.

“I’m still weak. There’s still a long way to go.”

Days passed by quickly after that incident. Kalina is busy investigating the whereabouts of the enemy, but it wasn’t a simple task. After all, the Evil mastermind has been enemies with the United Heroes association, but their base has never been found.

Max also tried to enter the grey world and control the white particle. Although he could only enter it sometimes, he feels that he gets closer to finding out the real identity of that power. He wanted to discuss it with Kalina, but he refrained from doing so since she barely has any time to meet with him.

Two weeks after, Max returned to his duty as a hero and started taking missions again. The day after, he got a surprising call that he almost forgot about.

“Hello, is this Air hero’s number?”

“Yes, that’s me. What is it?”

“I’m Elliot from Hyper Garage. I wonder if you still remember me. I am calling to inform you that the vehicle you ordered is ready. Would you come to the district 7 racing circuit for the test drive and adjustment?”

Max is a bit surprised since he totally forgot about it. If Elliot didn’t make a call, he would never remember about the motorcycle that he commissioned.

“Ah, of course, I remember. Do you want me to come today? Or tomorrow?”

“Let’s do it tomorrow since we couldn't book the circuit without prior booking.”

“Okay then. What time should we meet?”

“Ten o’clock in the morning sound reasonable. What do you think?”

“No problem. I’ll be there tomorrow.”

To be honest, Max is already tired of using public transportation when going on a mission. He still remembers when he is in Yuna’s team and riding the vehicle that the agency provided. It is comfortable, fast, and efficient.

On the next day, Max already arrives at the racing circuit before ten o’clock. It can be seen how enthusiastic he is about getting his first vehicle. He also has gotten his license before the hot newcomer competition begin.

Arriving on the race track, Max can see Elliot already waiting for him there. Waving his hand while smiling, Elliot immediately greeted Max as soon as they are close enough.

“Good morning, Air hero. I should have guessed that for a D-rank hero to order their own vehicle, he shouldn’t be someone average. In fact, the moment you pass the quarterfinals, I always watch your every match. Too bad there’s an unfortunate event at the final.”

“You’re overpraising me. I can only reach the final by luck.”

“You’re so humble, Air hero. I can see that many companies are contacting you for sponsorship or advertisement contract.”

Max didn’t know how to answer that since, contrary to his expectation, Max didn’t receive any calls from companies or any offer of some sort. Without Max’s knowledge, all of the offers fall into Giovanni’s lap.

Companies and agencies are watching the competition closely since they expect to lure the winner into their group. When they found out that Max contracted to an agency and the agency itself didn’t respond to their calls and mails, they returned silently. Giovanni, on the other hand, is the best model they could find.

The Goldlock family is prominent, and the company under them responded to the companies professionally. Not to mention Giovanni's handsome face compared to the masked Max have more appeal to the masses.

It couldn’t be blamed since Max’s contractor is Kalina, and she doesn't have time to respond to business emails or any offers. She is busy investigating the evil mastermind. Marie is staying in the office, but she never opened the agency’s email either since, from the start, she was never told that it was her responsibility.
