Max vs Elica

Elica is very calm compared to Max that is already in high tension. This time, Max tried to launch wind bullets towards her as a probing attack. It isn’t successful as the wind bullet got frozen mid-air before it reaches Elica.

After being frozen, the wind bullet is transformed into ice bullets, and Elica sends it back to Max. Looking at that, Max tried to launch another wind bullet towards the incoming projectile. However, he couldn’t break the ice and was forced to dodge.

“I didn’t know that ice can be so hard. I thought at least I could break it again using wind bullets.”

Ice is a higher form of water. If Max could break water using wind, he would need tremendous energy to break the ice. That is also why ice is considered superior to water. Max is lost on what he should do right now. He can't come close as he knows Elica’s control over her power will be even greater. Just like the last match where she makes an ice field around her when the opponent approaches.

Elica saw that Max isn’t moving, so she decided that it would be her turn to take on the offensive. With a swing of her hand, ice started to appear on the ground and headed towards Max. Max didn’t think too much about it as he doesn’t think that the thin ice path could do something to him. Only after a few meters before him, ice spears started to comes out from the ice path. It was causing him to dodge right and left, avoiding the spears.

As he dodges the spear, he can feel another movement of elements in the air. He looked above where the fluctuation happened, and he saw a giant ice block above him. In the next second, the ice block falls towards the ground, planning to attack him at the same time with the ice spear. Max immediately summoned the wind on top of the palm of his hand and directed it to the ground as a propulsion force that launches him backward to dodge the attack.

The sound of ice cracking on the ground can be heard as the ice boulder falls to the ground and the ice spears pierced it simultaneously. If Max doesn’t dodge using the wind earlier, his body would have been flattened and pierced by the ice. When it happens, he would instantly lose the match due to the damage he suffered.

“It seemed that Elica doesn’t show any mercy, although it’s supposed to be a friendly competition.”

Max smiled bitterly and thinking of a way to break the situation. The crowd, however, cheered loudly at the sight of flashy moves being performed by Elica. Compared to the battle earlier between Giovanni and Beastboy, the match between Max and Elica started with a bang.

Max attempted to send a few more wind bullets, and once again, he realizes that it was useless as it was returned to him as ice bullets.

“I guess I should attempt for a close-range battle. Fighting against her using long-range attack is futile.”

Max then decided to close in on her. He is now taking the long route and circled Elica. She also turns her head and unfazed by Max’s antics. Max is finding a chance to get closer to her. Right now, with a tap of her feet, the area around her turned into an ice field once again. As if entering an ice skating rink, the arena’s surface is covered by ice.

Max will need to tread carefully as Elica’s ability can be performed and appeared on the ground immediately as long as there’s ice. Max realized this when he saw her fighting previously. Max suddenly thinks of a great idea. Since it appeared that her ability needed contact with the ice that’s on the ground, he will attack her from the air.

She performed an ice block attack earlier, but he doubts that she could summon it fast enough. If it was maneuver in the air, Max is confident that he could move about freely.

With that being said, Max suddenly jumped into the air, and using the support of the wind; He could stay afloat for some time. Max’s goal of flying in the air wasn’t to attack Elica from afar as he has decided to get in close range. This will be his mean of approaching her.

As Max is in the air, Elica tried to block him by creating ice bullets around him, but he dodged it easily. Max then perform a sharp motion as he lunged straight for Elica in a 45-degree dive. That move is unpredictable to anyone as they are guessing that Max won’t go in for a close-range battle.

That is because, for two of his previous battle, they saw Max running around and didn’t face the enemy head-on before it is the last moment where the opponent couldn’t use their power anymore. Right now, it is a bizarre thing for Max to go head-on against the enemy.

Elica was also got surprised by him. When Max is fighting against Iki and Heinrich, he shows the same behavior at first. He tests the water using wind bullets, and then he runs away while thinking of something. Right now, after testing with wind bullets, Max actually moves in for a close-range battle.

This hurt Elica’s high esteem. Although she didn’t say it out loud, a bit of frown on her cold face tells it all.

“Is he looking down on me?”

Seeing that Max is approaching, Elica raises an ice wall full of sharp thorns in front of him. It was to prevent Max from getting up close and retaliate against his suicidal movement at the same time.

Looking at that, Max didn’t shrink away. He covered his arms in wind gauntlets and put more energy into it. When he arrived in front of the ice-thorny wall, he used the gauntlets to punch at it and see whether he could break the ice or not. Just like a martial arts training with the wooden dummy, the ice-thorny wall now becomes his training partner.
