I woke up the next morning, everything was a blur from the night before, I laid in bed for a few minutes collecting my thoughts and holding back the tears. I grabbed my phone off my end table, I had ten missed calls from Isaac, and five text messages. Four missed calls from Julie, and eleven text messages. I sighed, threw my phone on my bed without reading any of them, got up and went downstairs to the kitchen. "Morning baby, how'd you sleep?" mom asked making a coffee. Mom was a goddess, she had golden curly hair to her shoulders, brown eyes, she was on the shorter side, but slim. I got my looks mostly from my father, who has dark brown hair, and dark brown eyes, he was tall, and built. I sat down at the kitchen table. Mom turned to look at me "Aw baby, you didn't sleep much did you?" she said giving me sad eyes, she came over to me, started playing with my hair. I didn't make eye contact, I knew if I did I'd start crying all over again. She didn't ask me what happened, she already knew. "Things will get better I promise" she said giving me a hug, I hugged her back. "Thanks mom", I managed to say very quietly, still not making eye contact. I got up to make a coffee "You want anything specific to eat?" she asked, "No, I'm not hungry, but thanks" I replied with my back to her. "Okay, if you change your mind, let me know" she said walking out of the kitchen. I made my coffee, and sat on the back deck. We lived in Barrie Ontario, in the outskirts of the city in a quiet neighborhood. My father loved it as he was less then ten minutes from his job. He was a Senior Software Engineer. My mother worked from home with the government, mostly working with data entries.
I finished my coffee, and decided to take a nice hot shower. As I got dressed and brushed my long dark brown hair that went down to the middle of my back my cell phone rang, it was Julie. I hesitated answering, but I did. "Sam, please don't hang up on me, can we please talk?" she asked. " I have nothing to say to either of you" I said. " I'm coming over, if you still want nothing to do with me after we talk, then I will respect that" she said sounding nervous. "Fine" I said and hung up.
I sat on my front doorstep waiting for Julie to arrive, she did after five minutes, she gave me a shy smile as she got off her bicycle, I didn't return the smile, I just wanted to get this over with. "Hey" she said standing at the bottom of the stairs. I shook my head not even looking at her. "Look, about last night, I'm sorry you had to see that, it wasn't supposed to happen" she said looking down at her feet, "Excuse me?" I said my dark brown eyes glaring at her. " you're supposed to be my best friend, Isaac was my boyfriend of a year and a half, what the hell were you thinking?" I said practically screaming at her. "I'm sorry Sam but you must have known I had a crush on him too, and he obviously likes me back" she said still not even looking at me. I shook my head, stood up "You know what Julie, you and I have nothing more to say to each other, you are no body to me, if you see me, keep walking, don't try to talk to me, he's all yours" I said turning my back to her to walk back in the house. "Sam, please don't be like this" she said voice breaking. " I don't forgive you, and I sure as hell won't forget, we are finished" I said walking into the house and shutting the door.
