Chapter 11 An Expected Answer

1041 Words
When he was speechless with pain, he heard Samuel’s voice again.   “Which hand did he use just now? break it!”   Suddenly, a man appeared behind Eason like a ghost and then the whole alley came Eason’s cry and roar.   The soldier, as Samual’s personal guards, was always beside him.   There were usually one or two guards beside him to secretly protect him and solve unnecessary problems for him.   Once there was something important, they would gather all the staff within a few minutes by only his order!   There were eighteen guards, which were loyal to Samuel all along.   Samuel just forgot him. In his view, Eason would never appear again after that.   What’s more, they were going to buy a new house today, so they wouldn’t live here any longer.   As for the arrears in rent, Samuel would certainly give it to Eason if he can come.   Back home, he saw Charlotte doing housework. She looked up at Samuel and said with a smile, “You went out so early. I guessed you must have gone to buy us breakfast.”   Samuel shook the food in his hand and answered with a smile, “I told you I will take care of you and our daughter. Of course, the first thing, also the most important thing is naturally our breakfast, right? Trust me!”   Just as Samuel was setting the table, Charlotte came to him and whispered, “Samuel, yesterday you said there was a way to cure Olivia. You meant you have a friend?”   Samuel nodded and comfort her, “Don’t worry, Charlotte. I have a friend who happens to be proficient in medical skills. Even the prominent doctor in London is far inferior to him.”   “He can save Olivia, I promise.”   Having heard it, Charlotte breathed a sigh of relief.   “But Samuel, how about the cost of the treatment? I have almost no savings, so your friend may finally get nothing.”   However, Samuel adopted an air of indifference and waved his hand. He smiled and said, “Don’t worry about it. He owed me a lot before, so this time his help will be given gratis.”   Hearing it, Charlotte stopped asking and nodded gently. She chose to believe him.   Just then, Olivia rubbed her sleepy eyes and came out of the room, throwing herself into Samuel’s arms.   “Dad, give me a hug!” Olivia said in a soft voice   Her lovely appearance completely melted Samuel’s heart. Then he hugged Olivia in his arms, threw her into the air, and then accepted her. He laughed and said, “Our dear daughter, did you sleep well last night?”   Olivia nodded and said in a child tone, “Mom and I will sleep well as long as you are here.”   “Oh my babe, when did you become so sweet?”   Charlotte shaved her nose and said softly, “Dad got up early to buy you breakfast, so let’s wash up and leave him alone to have a rest, okay?”   Olivia was also sensible. Climbing down from his back, she smiled and said, “Thank you, Dad!”   Then, she followed Charlotte to the bathroom.   Samuel was soaking up the pleasant atmosphere and his eyes even turned red.   Being outside for so many years, Samuel naturally longed for one day to enjoy such a life with his family.   After all, it was only after getting used to life and death that Samuel realized what was valuable. Now his life now was what he wanted most.   Just then, an uninvited guest rushed in carelessly.   “Boss, I didn’t expect you really prepared breakfast for me. In fact, there is no need to be so polite. It is okay for me to eat outside.”   Samuel didn’t even look back at him and just said in a low voice, “How about it? Has the king agreed to my request?”   Aiden sat beside, causally picked up a fried bread from the table and chewed it up. “Boss, you should know the answer,” Aiden answered,   Samuel was silent. Yes, he had already known the answer.   “Anyway, I must stay here with them. Even if the king came to me, I would never go back.”   Having heard his words, Aiden nodded and sighed with emotion, “Boss, I knew, so I have applied to the king for privileges.”   “As long as you are not ready to retire, the king will promise you can stay here and live with your family. But if one day the enemy invades again, he hopes you will return to the army.”   While speaking, Aiden seemed to be worried that Samuel would not agree, so he hastily added another condition.   “If you promise, the settlement fee will be paid as a bonus over the years, and you can also buy a new house for them.”   “And you will be eligible to mobilize all resources within reasonable limits if you run into any snags.”   Indeed, Samuel was impressed by the final condition.   Noticing his hesitation, Aiden persuaded in a hurry, “Boss, you will inevitably encounter more trouble if you live here. But if you retire from the army, there is no such qualification to mobilize resources.”   “What’s more, if the enemy doesn’t invade, you can always be here with your wife and daughter. So, boss, please deliberate over your decision again.”   Hearing this, Samuel also took a deep breath and finally made his own decision.   “I agree, but there is just one requirement. Tell the media, I will no longer control the army so that I can save myself a ton of trifles. Of course, the enemy does not have the courage to cause trouble.”   Samuel’s remarks really reassured Aiden, which made him even want to cry.   If Samuel can’t be persuaded this time, he was afraid he would be dismissed. But fortunately, the ending was not bad for everyone.
