{Silas’ POV} When Owen came back from the Bennett Ranch all he could talk about was how pretty Noelle Bennett was. He honestly wouldn’t shut up, mom asked him to go to town when she got back, so luckily I didn’t have to keep listening to his incessant muttering. I knew that she’d need her space when she came in, so Emmaline and I came on up and started on the chores. She was happy to help me collect the eggs, and take them inside. She loved hearing about the pretty new neighbor, and I could tell she wanted to meet her. Emmaline loved Roy, and he was a good man to all of us, so meeting his daughter is something that she’d been looking forward to. I told her that she needed some space, but it seems as though she didn’t listen. As soon as my back was turned she ran off to go meet her. I’ll admit, seeing them walking up the hill hand in hand, it was a sight. She has the most beautiful red hair, it’s so long and looks so soft. Her eyes were pale green, and her skin pale, and kissed with freckles. Her body was amazing, she was skinny, but curvy, her thighs, breasts, and butt were so thick. I wasn’t expecting her to be so beautiful. “She’s so pretty, like a princess!” Emmaline said, as Noelle walked carefully back down the hill. I nodded, walking my daughter back towards the house. “Yeah, she is.” I said, sitting her down on the front porch. “But that doesn’t mean that you can run off like that! I turned my back for one minute, and you were gone!” I snapped, rubbing my temples. This child would be the death of me, and I knew it. “You can’t just run off like that, you had me worried sick!” She looked down to the ground. “I’m sorry daddy, I didn’t mean to scare you.” She whimpered, looking back up at me with her big brown eyes. It’s so hard to stay mad at her when she looks at me like that. “I know honey, just, stop running off, it’s dangerous!” “It wasn’t this time though, I helped her feel better!” She smiled, before turning and walking into the house. As we walked inside mom was waiting with a plate of food for Emmaline. “There you are sweetie, here’s your food, you need to come eat before it gets cold!” Mom said, setting down the plate at the table. I rubbed the back of my neck. “Mom..” “Yeah honey?” She said, fixing up another plate and setting it down. “What do you know about Noelle Bennett?” I asked, walking into the kitchen and grabbing myself a bottle of water. She sighed. “Not much.. Maria took off with her when she was a baby. Apparently she’s lost her mother, and her father.” She shrugged. “Why do you ask son?” “Don’t you find it strange that she just showed up here out of nowhere? Not to mention, who were you talking to that asked you to keep an eye on her?” I asked, turning towards her. “And why did you send Owen to get her a security system? All of this is strange..” She slammed her hand down on the kitchen island, causing me to turn and face her. “Silas, I understand why you’re always so anxious, and why you want to try to know as much as you can about everyone you meet. I’m telling you now, that her being here, and her reasonings for being here are her business, not ours!” She shook her head, turning and making up another plate. “Now, stop asking questions, and go wash up.” She pointed back towards the bathroom. I sighed, turning and starting towards the bathroom. “Alright, but you know that I’m going to figure it all out eventually.” I said, before walking into the bathroom. I quickly took off my clothes, and stepped into the shower washing off. Once I was clean, I stepped out drying off, and wrapping the towel around my waist, making my way to my room. I got dressed in a clean pair of jeans, and a clean t-shirt before heading back into the kitchen. Emmaline was in the living room watching tv, as mom sat down the rest of the plates and drinks. “Son.. she’s in trouble,” she said softly. “I’m not sure what kind.. but she’s running from someone. I was asked to keep her safe, because she doesn’t have anyone else to turn to. Both of her parents are gone, and she’s all alone.” She said, pinching the bridge of her nose. “So try to be kind.. you don’t have to go out of your way, but at least be nice to her when you see her, okay?” She asked, smiling softly at me. I nodded, letting out a long, drawn out sigh. “Alright mom, I’ll be nice, but I’m going to get to the bottom of this. I have to make sure that Emmaline is safe around her.” “As long as you’re being nice honey, I just.. I can’t tell you. If she wants anyone to know, she’ll tell us. I don’t even know everything.. I just know that she’s running away from someone bad.” She sighed walking over and pulling me into a hug. “I know that it’s been hard for you to trust anyone around Emmaline honey, but I promise you that no one knows where Noelle is, and it’s going to stay that way. I’ll make a phone call and see what, if anything, I’m able to say to help put you more at ease, and I’ll go talk to her in the morning. I don’t know if she’ll even be willing to tell me anything, so just try to get some rest, and relax!” She smiled, pulling back and looking over me. “You’re a good man, Silas.” She turned and walked back towards her bedroom. “I love you son.” She said before gently closing the door behind her.
