Four days before the Mating Season’s Ball. At the Alpha's tower...
(Zacria's POV)
“He what!” I growled out as bad news welcomed me early in the morning.
One of the Dark Stone's jail guards knelt in front of me and reported that the gunman who's responsible for the commotion during Mating Season’s Parade escaped the other night.
“Our pack officers are already combing the city, Alpha. We also put a bounty on his head to catch him immediately."
Seating behind my office table, my jaw clenched tightly as I gave stringent order "That's not enough. Send the trackers and search for him all over the territory. Hunt him down and bring him back dead or alive."
“Copy, Alpha Mayor!” the jail guard answered.
I dismissed him with a wave of my hand and then I stood up. With my chest moving up and down in irritation, I went to the window and opened the blinds. I heard my subordinate's footsteps exiting the room then the opening and closing sound of the office door. In just a few seconds, I was left alone in deep thoughts.
I leaned on the side of the window and slumped my hands inside of my black slack's pocket. I heaved a deep breath and looked down at the busy street of DarkStone City.
Jiggy Sawyer; the man who tried to kill me on the parade is a mental case. Base on the documents of the asylum where he was treated years ago, he lost his sanity after his mate broke up with him. His ex-girlfriend attended the mating season's ball and there she found her second chance mate.
Badly broken, that triggered Jiggy and murdered his ex-girlfriend and her newfound mate. However, that didn't cease Jiggy's anger. Being the Alpha Mayor who organized the Mating Season’s Ball, he blamed me for his misfortune in the life. He blamed me for the crime he committed.
With that, my mind was clouded with concern as I couldn't help but question who's the real victim.
Mating Season’s Ball was originally organized by the Reid clan. Its main purpose is to give new hope to those who lost their first mate. A way for them to find another chance of happiness.
However, I never thought that it could also ruin someone's life like Jiggy Sawyer.
I don't know how to prove to that guy that my family only desires what's best for DarkStone. The only way I know is to send him back to the asylum.
I already instructed Sasha to fix his papers yet he escaped from prison which made him a big threat to the upcoming big event of my territory.
Pulling my hands out from my pockets, I stood up straight and exhaled.
I am not someone who overt acts but I don't want to wait for something bad to happen to one of my pack members. He must be captured asap or I will personally hunt and kill him.

Ranch del Romance
Lucy’s POV
“You only have half an hour to buy all the things need in the market. And remember! Do not steal money from me or you'll be punished again, dear step-daughter," Aunt Selene said in a voice full of threats.
I nodded and replied, "Yes, Aunt Selene."
She snorted before she turned around and retired to her room.
As soon as she's finally out of my sight, I let out a deep sigh and pouted. 'Steal money from her, she said.' I snickered. She could fool other wolves but not me. It's my father's money she's using and wasting.
When Aunt Selene and Katrina came home yesterday, they bought so many things like perfumes, shoes, dresses, and makeup. All were branded and cost a lot it can buy land.
I shook my head.
They were enjoying the luxury that it should be me who's experiencing yet they didn't even think of buying me even a pair of underwear.
Those witches!
Ten years of spending too much and I swear, my father's wealth will surely dissolve because of their irresponsibility.
Sometimes I want to discuss that with my stepmother but I knew she won't listen and only nag at me. Also, she hates it when I'm talking about my father's money and the last will. She said there's nothing to talk to for my father went bankrupt before he died and only left us debts.
I don't believe her cause I saw the paper once. The last will of Edward del Romance. He's leaving an enormous amount of fortune to his only daughter and that's me. Unfortunately, the last will disappear the next day.
Someone stole it and maybe hide it somewhere.
Feeling my chest tightened in dismay and feeling a little mad with those thoughts, I decided to finally do my daily task.
I went out of the villa with a basket hooked in my arm and walked towards the woods. The shortcut to the city. I had a whiff of the fresh scent of nature which made me yawn aloud.
Heck. I didn't sleep well last night and it is all because of that plumber man; Cria.
My face contorted as I remembered him.
After confessing that he's not a plumber man, he said he's the Alpha of DarkStone.
I huffed. "That dude is losing his mind."
Does he think I'm that gullible?
That he can fool me anytime he wants?
Annoyance filled me and I shook my head once again. "He should be thankful that he's quite hot but if he lies to me again, I won't just push him out of the window."
I will kick his ass!
I heard Sky giggled at the back of my mind and then teased me. “Seems like someone is having a crush on that fake plumber man. But what about the Alpha, I wonder."
I rolled my eyes and growled at her. "Don't you tease me to that trickster, dear inner wolf? I'm not interested in him and you know that I'm faithful to my Zacria Reid. No one can replace him and even the Alpha of RaveStone can not surpass him in my heart."
“Okay, if you say so,” not convinced, Sky answered and fell silent which made me confused.
What's her deal and where that idea I have a crush on Cria came from?
That's foolish.
I mean, how can I feel something like that towards a man I barely know?
He's shady.
Mysterious.
Although he's undeniably gorgeous and got, I can't fall for someone like him.
What if he's a killer or something?
He told me he's working on Reid's mansion but after telling me last night he's Zacria Reid, I realized that I can't trust him.
I am not sure if he's going to visit me again tonight but this time I will make sure that I will lock the window so he won't bother me again.
