There was fire everywhere.
Screams erupted around the place as fire licked at the skin of its victims. I was standing cluelessly in the middle of the flames. My eyes were wide open as I turned around in circles, taking in the intensity of the flame. My heart pounded heavily as I tried to understand what was going on in this place.
How did I get here? What was this place? Why was it burning? Who were these people?
There was no answer for me. All I could do was watch in defeat. I wanted to help them. I wanted to put them out of their misery but I did not know how to.
Suddenly, strange and harsh whispers filled the place. I could not tell if it was coming from the people or the fire itself. Yet I tried to pay attention because it felt as if they were trying to communicate with me
