Chapter 4

1034 Words
He got a call from Zach at Simon's grave before, thinking it was just a prank, but it turns out it was for real! Right now, this old guy with silver hair showed up, decked out in a tux and a fancy jade ring, looking all serious. "You two caused all this ruckus at my party! Do you think I'm some pushover?" Zach gave him an icy stare. "Are you Mason?" "You know who I am, and you still dare to act like that?" Mason fired back, all cold and serious. "The last guy who tried this with me is six feet under!" Albi and Rosa spot Mason and let out a sigh. 'Nobody could act tough in front of this old man!' Josh leaned over to Mason and whispered, "Dad, we heard someone messed with Simon's grave earlier. I bet it was these two!" Just as Mason was about to say something, a burly middle-aged man stormed in. He got a machete in one hand and walked in like he owned the place! "Who the hell crippled my nephew, Miller?" he bellowed. The security guard pointed straight at Zach and Rohan. "Mr. Woods, these two did it. I saw the whole thing!" Albi couldn't believe it. Miller had been crippled before him, and he felt foolish for intervening. If he had known they were this ruthless, he wouldn't have stepped in. Zach narrowed his eyes, took a step forward, and asked with a menacing tone, "Are you Eli Woods?" Eli confirmed, "Yes, I am. But it's too late for regrets now, even if you have them!" Instead of getting angry, Zach laughed. "Good, very good!" Simon had always been a hero, yet he met his end at the hands of such a scoundrel. If Zach didn't seek vengeance, how could he face Simon in the afterlife? "Looks like everyone who needs to be here is here today." Zach's voice carried a chilling edge, sending shivers through Rohan. Only he knew that Zach's demeanor meant he was furious. Rohan bowed before Zach and declared, "Marshal Gibson, this scum doesn't deserve your attention. Allow me to take care of this." The scene shocked everyone. Who was this guy? Eli had a notorious reputation. Trained by a special forces soldier for eight years, he had skills beyond those of ordinary people. He had killed dozens of gangsters single-handedly years ago and had recently killed Simon to kiss up to the Fox family. Yet here they were, acting boldly in front of the ruthless boss of the Woods family. Eli glared at Rohan and Zach with murderous intent. But since it was Mason's birthday banquet, he suppressed his anger, nodded respectfully to Mason, and said through gritted teeth, "Mr. Mason, it's your birthday today. I shouldn't cause trouble, but my nephew was harmed, and I must seek justice. After I deal with these two, I'll apologize to you." Mason chuckled. "Eli, do what you must. I won't hold it against you." "You little brats, for Mr. Mason Fox's sake, I'll only cripple your legs today!" Eli's machete gleamed as he prepared to strike. Rohan's gaze turned icy. "Disrespecting Marshal Gibson is punishable by death!" Seeing Rohan reach for something, Zach intervened. He picked up a dining knife and handed it to Rohan calmly. "At an elder's birthday, we shouldn't use weapons. He was rude, but we can't act like that. Use this." Rohan accepted the dining knife solemnly, treating it like a weapon of honor. "Do you dare insult me?" Eli's eyes flashed with anger. He wielded a machete, yet the other side had only a dining knife. It was a clear insult. "I'll kill your lackey first, then take your head!" Mason laughed softly. "This guy doesn't know his place. He is showing off in front of Eli. He's asking for trouble." "Just a couple of ignorant fools," Josh replied with a faint smile, already envisioning Zach and Rohan's downfall. The crowd couldn't help but chuckle to themselves as they listened to their chat. Eli made quite a splash back in the day with that machete—carving out fame, fortune, and a hell of a reputation! Suddenly, Rohan moved! Eli smirked, squinting as he eyed Rohan wielding the dinner knife. He finally readied his machete! But in the clash that followed, Eli was shocked to find that Rohan's skills were refined and almost miraculous. The dining knife danced in Rohan's hand, leaving afterimages. After a dozen exchanges, Eli found himself on the defensive. Everyone was stunned. Though they didn't understand knife fighting, they could see the burly man was dominating with just a dining knife. After a few more moves, Zach's expression darkened. "Are you done playing around?" Rohan tensed at Zach's words and swung the dining knife horizontally. The knife gleamed with a chilling light, sending shivers through the onlookers. Such an ordinary tool seemed to radiate the aura of a deadly blade. "Damn it!" Eli's heart raced. He realized he had been toyed with, just like a cat playing with a mouse. Defenseless against the lethal strike aimed at his throat, Eli could only watch. "Just killing him would be too easy. For now, let's leave him alive," Zach ordered as Rohan struck. The blade, moments from Eli's throat, diverted and sliced his right thumb instead. The thumb went flying, blood trailing in its wake! Eli's machete fell to the ground, and pain washed over him. Clutching his bleeding hand, he glared at Zach. "This isn't over!" Eli clutched his thumbless hand with a pained expression and left the scene. Unbeaten for years in Botoza, he was defeated by an unknown adversary. The crowd was aghast, their eyes wide open. Rosa trembled and fell to the ground in fear, while Albi's face paled, replaying Zach's chilling words in his mind. Would the Martin family really face annihilation if they didn't apologize? As confusion reigned, a cold voice cut through the air. "Gentlemen, have you had your fill?" Everyone turned to see a noble lady descending the stairs. Zach cast a cold look on the lady, and shouted to her with his reddened eyes. "Alana, there you are finally. I'm gonna kill you today!"
