CHAPTER SEVENTEEN Ariel drove at the higher speed limit all the way to her sister’s house. She threw fearful glances in her rearview mirror all the time. At every traffic light, her eyes swept over the people in the cars stopped in her proximity. The woman also looked at the people walking on the pavement. She wanted to make sure that no one was surveying her. The traffic was pretty light for a Friday evening, but Ariel had the feeling that she didn’t move fast enough. Driven by sheer fear, the woman didn’t think she would arrive at her destination in one piece. ‘Pull yourself together, Ariel,’ she grumbled after she had avoided an accident in the nick of time. ‘The idea is to get there, not to land into the hospital or into the morgue,’ the woman encouraged herself. The trip to her si
