The police came in less than five minutes, and they brought an ambulance with them. Ariel had told them about the fight between the two men when she called. She had also mentioned that there were some casualties.
“So, with all those alarms you set up, the man still got inside,” one of the officers observed, while two others handcuffed the intruder and took him out to the police car.
The paramedics had already checked the attacker and declared him fit to be taken to the police station. Besides a few severe bruises, a swollen eye, and a cracked lip, the guy wasn’t seriously hurt.
Now one of them cleaned a deep cut along Max’s arm. The man had already refused to be taken to the hospital. He didn't consider that it was paramount to have the wound treated right then.
