Violet POV
The car was moving slowly, we were already within the limits of the Darkmoon pack. I sat in silence in the back seat, trying to calm my nerves. When Alpha David and Luna Aurora talked with me a few hours ago, they told me they wanted me to become their son's mate and Luna of the Darkmoon pack. I was 20 years old and I only had a few months left until I found my soul mate. At 21, you are usually mature enough to feel it. I still didn't have a wolf. Most felt the presence of their wolf when they turned sixteen, but I knew there was still a chance for me. If I didn't feel the presence of my wolf after I turned 21, I will lose all hope. In fact, at the moment I was almost completely ordinary, without any abilities that werewolves had. In addition, my parents died a year ago in a car accident, and since then I had barely been able to cope physically and mentally.
That's why Alpha David's words surprised me so much, I didn't know why they chose me when probably any she-wolf would agree to be their Luna. Anyway, I had nothing and no one, not even a home, so I had to at least try. At first, I thought they were just offering me to join their pack and I was incredibly happy, but then when I found out...
What bothered me the most was that when I asked them what their son, the current Alpha, thought about that, they looked at each other and said that he was responsible and he was putting the well-being of his pack first, so he would support their decision. I didn't say anything, but their words gave me the impression that he wasn't even aware of their plans. How was that possible? At the moment I was going to unknown territory, to an unknown pack, and Alpha David and Luna Aurora will not even be next to me. They will be in the lands of the Westwood pack for a long period of time. They were known for the pack with the largest number of Healers and pack doctors, so they went there for alpha David to be cured. I was currently traveling with Allen, who was the Gamma. I was entrusted to him, and my only consolation was that he reminded me very much of my father.
I didn't understand when we reached the pack house, I was lost in thoughts. I looked around and the surroundings were very nice.
The pack house was big and modern, the whole headquarters were like an island surrounded by forest. A light breeze blew and created an even more pleasant atmosphere.
I got out of the car and Allen and I entered the house. The first floor was full of people. Everyone seemed busy and was moving around. While we were traveling, Allen explained to me that once the pack was large, there were about 350 werewolves, but after the vampire attack, under 200 remained, most of them women and children.
"From here, Violet." Allen directed me to a long corridor at the end of which was a room. I guess it was the Alpha's office. Allen opened the door and he gestured for me to come in first. The sight that unfolded in front of me made me froze. A tall, attractive man with black hair and green eyes sat behind a desk, the arms of a very attractive female wrapped around his neck and she was kissing him. Allen came in after me and when he saw them he stopped, bowed his head, and said
"Alpha, I didn't know you were here and you had company." When I heard he was the Alpha, I immediately lowered my head and stared at the desk. With my peripheral vision, I saw the Alpha removing her hands.
"You can go now, Ali." I heard the sound of another kiss and the female left the room.
"So, what's up, Allen? Who is our guest?"
Allen sat in one of the two chairs that were in front of the desk and again gestured for me to sit down too.
"You remember the conversation Alpha David and Luna Aurora had with you, don't you?" I looked at Allen just before he spilled the beans and saw how nervous he was. "This is Violet. She's your future Luna." We sat for a few seconds in awkward silence when finally I risked a glance in Alpha's direction. He was staring at Allen with a murderous look, and the Gamma could not stand the tension more than a few seconds and bowed his head. Then Alpha looked at me.
"So you're the one who thought that you could just come out of nowhere and become our pack's Luna? It won't happen though. My parents may believe that their actions are for the best, but I won't take for a Luna someone, whose motives are shallow."
"Mason, Alpha, I know you're upset, but I thought you understood why your parents had to do it. We must follow their command. You know it's all for the best of the pack."
"I damn well know what's best for my pack. I know I must pick my Luna, but I can do it myself."
"Then why didn't you do that already?" Before I know it, I jumped into the conversation. I watched in disbelief and scolded myself. This behavior could be the reason for my death.
The Alpha stood abruptly from the desk, pushing his chair on the floor at the process. Immediately Allen stood, took my hands, and positioned me behind his back.
"Mason..." Allen started.
"Stay out of it."
"You know I can't, I'm the Gamma, and she..." "She's not my Luna!"
"Not yet. Please, It's difficult enough for me as it is. Don't make it worse."
The whole time I was staring at the floor, regretting my remark, but...It was offending. I had nothing to do with their plan, hell, I heard about it a couple of hours ago...
"Look at me." My eyes found his and we were watching each other silently."Don't think it would happen." Then he stormed out of the door.
Allen turned to face me and spoke.
"Don't worry. He has a very good heart. He will agree at the end. Just bear in mind that he is very straightforward and till he finally accepts you, he could be...difficult."
"Who was the female?" I almost whispered.
For a second Allen seemed confused, but then he smiled awkwardly.
"Well, I think you mean Alison, the female that was here? She is...aa...was the Alpha's girlfriend."
He saw the desperate look on my face and calmly said to me not to worry about it.
"Once he agrees and you mark each other, everything will be different."
Yeah...I really couldn't imagine how that would happen...
