‘I’ve been watching you, I know you feel alone and scared. Desperately looking for something real. I’m that real thing, Jade, and I’m not going to let you go. I’m not going to reject you, no matter how much you try. I’ll let it kill me first. I love you, and I’m not going anywhere.’ I shivered, pulling into the parking lot in the back of the packhouse and staring at the dark trees in front of me. Did he mean that? I always thought Julien was a player, never serious, though I had to admit now that I thought about it, he hasn’t been with other girls in the last six months. I only knew that because the girls complained about it. But could I trust him with this? He said he’s not going to reject me, but can I trust him? I had trusted Colt, and look where that got me.
