Chapter 5 OverwatchThe rest of the trip south to Overwatch was uneventful and pleasant. The sun was shining and that day warmed up to be beautiful. Penn and I spent the morning in the back of the cart resting and chit chatting. Utus stopped the wagon for lunch and to let us stretch our legs. We were only an hour or two from home. “Would you like to try driving the wagon?” Utus said to me between bites of a cabbage sandwich. “I’ve never done that before, but, sure, why not?” So after a quick lunch, I climbed up into the seat, grabbed the reins, and with a grit of my teeth, slapped the horses with the lash and off we went.
