CHAPTER 15 Kennedy stared at the faces around her, trying to figure out if there was anyone she recognized. She was initially surprised at how many staff members of the Voice were here. When O’Brien said she’d be meeting with the editors, she thought he meant the five section heads and the editor-in-chief, but apparently each section editor had an assistant who was also considered part of the staff, and there were also a few senior editors who no longer ran their own pages but still remained involved in the life and pulse of the Voice. Getting through the initial introductions took at least ten minutes. Ten minutes Kennedy could have spent in her dorm room worrying about Carl. Or praying for him. “Ok. Let’s get to it.” Marty, the editor-in-chief, unfolded that week’s copy of the Voice.
