CHAPTER 40
Kennedy couldn’t remember a twenty-four-hour period filled with so much of both heartache and joy. By the time she and Willow returned back to campus, she was exhausted.
“What a day,” Willow sighed.
Kennedy’s thoughts exactly.
They were quiet on the walk to their dorm. They’d stayed far past the typical ICU visiting hours, but Carl had shown so much improvement once he woke up that the nurse didn’t have the heart to send anyone away.
Kennedy still couldn’t believe her roommate was engaged. She figured Nick would end up proposing one day, but she’d been sure they’d wait until Willow was at least a senior to make things official. Kennedy didn’t have the heart to ask Willow how soon they’d plan the wedding. Would she need to find herself a new roommate before graduation?
