Isabella's eyes tightened and she seemed a little lost. Seeing Joseph wearing his watch and leaving the bedroom, Isabella hurriedly took his arm. "Joseph, I have served breakfast. Try it."
As she spoke, she pointed Joseph to the open balcony.
Joseph glanced at her, took long strides to the open balcony to pull a cane chair placed there closer, and sat down.
"You didn't accompany me to dinner last night. Have a good breakfast with me today."
Isabella said with a smile, taking out several breakfast options like toast and eggs with bacon on the plates which she also brought along with her. "Grace just bought them."
With Isabella's deliberate slowness, the breakfast lasted for more than ten minutes.
Isabella didn't breathe a sigh of relief until the mobile phone in her pocket vibrated. Knowing that Grace had come back, she said that she was full, then packed her plate and went downstairs with Joseph.
On the coffee table in the living room, the file bag is placed in the original position, even at the same angle, as if no one had moved it.
When he saw the paper bag, Joseph eyes went dark and he walked to the table with long strides as he walked, he spoke to Isabella over his shoulders. "The servant will come to the apartment to clean it later. Isabella, you go first."
Isabella answered softly and left the apartment with her bag. The moment she closed the gate, there was an evil smirk on her lips, just like the devil.
Joseph sat down on the sofa and opened the paper bag with conflicting emotions, he was wondering just what he would do to Rose if he discovers that she left without telling him that he has a child, how he would tell the child in question, his identity and get along with him if he really is the father.
Looking slightly below the document, his face was immediately frozen with shock.
The paternity tests results showed that the DNA matching degree between them was less than 3.3%.
That is to say, the little guy who was similar to him was not his child!
"Damn it!" Joseph's big hand tightened sharply, wrinkling DNA test report out of shape. Under the soft glare of the morning sun, all Joseph could feel inside was cold… and a little bit hurt.
Rose, you're tough!
At that exact moment, Rose, who was driving a rental car to the company, sneezed hard and trembled all over. She thought that she might be coming down with a cold because she didn’t remember if she covered herself with a blanket the night before or not.
She also felt like Joseph was leaning over her and close to her ears as she was sneezing, the feeling was so real as if he were nearby in that moment. In a panic, Rose almost drove the car to the back of another car which was a little parked from her since they were in traffic.
"Bumper! Did you go to the driving school for four days and then came out to drive!" The man who was in the car before her yelled through his winded down front glass and brought out his hand with only his middle finger in the air.
"Sorry, sorry." Rose yelled as she rolled down the car window. She was calming her mind when a blast of the horn behind her startled her again, this time the traffic have started moving.
Last night, what a bad choice she made!
Rose entered the lobby from the revolving door, and a burst of elegant flower fragrance wafted. She was still wondering who sprayed more perfume with flower fragrance on her body, when the courier who had been waiting at the front desk immediately approached her.
"Hello, are you Miss Rose?"
Rose nodded. "I am. What can I do for you?"
The courier handed her the purple box he was carrying and smiled "I am to deliver a bonquet from a Mr. David. Please confirm it has no problem with it and sign the dotted line for me." He then opened the box for Rose to look through.
There is a bunch of red roses in the delicate box, which is just in bloom. They were as beautiful as the lady who bared the same name of the flowers. After careful counting, there are 27 stems in the box.
A sharp-eyed female colleague next to her made a voice of exclamation and envy, after she saw the texture and exquisiteness of the flowers, these sizes were bigger than the normal size which meant that the person who got it for her, went through extra trouble to ensure they were better than average.
Rose hesitated for a moment, quickly signed the courier list and took the box. "Thank you."
As soon as she entered her office with the flowers in her arms, her phone rang and when she checked it was David who was calling. "Good morning Rose, have you received the flowers?"
"Just received it, they are beautiful." Rose lips stretched into a smile, as she gently caressed the petals with her fingers. "The extra-large roses are very expensive. You still buy such a big bunch even though I can only keep it for a little while. It's really a waste."
David smiled and his voice was gentle. "In my heart, nothing can compare with you."
David’s associate who came on the trip with him, cleared his throat and looked away from David whose low voice and lingering words revealed a level of intimacy that made the other man uncomfortable. He listened to David as he said, "I will arrive at New York at three o'clock in the afternoon and pick you up alongside Mark for dinner in the evening?"
Rose looked at her itinerary and said, "Okay, it happens that I am not busy either."
Joseph didn't come to the company until past 10 am.
After seeing Joseph enter the CEO's office, Rose took deep breaths and steeled herself against Joseph’s words and went with the signed contract, she stood at the door of the CEO's office, and tapped three times gently.
"Come in."
Rose opened the door and walked in.
When her eyes met Joseph's expressionless face, her memory flashed to the scene of last night his face as he thrust into her, his deep groan of satisfaction, she was not expecting her mind to flash thopse scenes to her so she stumbled and almost fell to the ground.
"What you can't walk steadily?" Joseph glanced at her and he continued to remove his tie from his neck. The moment he took his seat in the boss's chair, Rose felt a great pressure has been pressed upon her.
As if he a store owner and she was nothing but a shoplifter who has been caught and brought before him.
"Joseph, this is the contract with Lewis Agency." Rose stepped forward and pushed the contract to Joseph. "I've settled with Brian of Lewis Agency, and I hope you--"
"M&R has no reason to cooperate with Lewis." Joseph interrupts and, as Rose looked up at him in astonishment, he continued, "There will never be dealing between the two of us again."
"Joseph, this contract has legal effect. If Lewis Agency unilaterally breaks the contract, they will pay at least three million Dollars compensation." Rose, thinking that Brian was the one who was having issues with the contract continued speaking, "You don't have to worry, I'll talk to Mr. Brian again."
"Rose, are my words are so difficult that you can't understand them?" Joseph pressed his finger on the table. "I said, M&R will never cooperate with Lewis, understand?"
Suddenly, Rose clenched her fists, but her emotions did not dare to show on her face: "M&R is at a low point. If you don't borrow partners to win over investors, it will be a difficult problem to survive in the film and television industry."
Joseph lit a cigar with one hand and held it on his lips. He didn't look at Rose at all as he gave an order: "Rose, get out."
Rose gritted her teeth as she finally picked up the file then turning away.
If he didn't want to cooperate with Lewis, why didn't he say so earlier? Was it interesting to let her work for so many days without having proof of her efforts?
She didn’t know if Joseph did it on purpose. After coming back from a business trip for three days, he gave Rose a lot of things to work, and people from the following departments were also hurrying her. She was so busy that she didn't even have time to go to the toilet, but she had to go out to help him make his coffee.
At 12 noon, during the lunch break, Joseph closed his pen and rubbed his eyebrows, he was thinking about the video conference and the documents to be processed during the second half of the business day.
When he caught a glimpse of the shutters closed tightly on his office right hand side, he fished out the remote control from the drawer and rolled the shutters open.
