Aquel, Engkantao of Water

Aquel "Must you guys always test her patience?" I asked.    Lander and the cats looked ahead and saw me leaning against the doorframe. Lander chuckled and put back the fire extinguisher back in the corner.  "The cats started it." He said.    I arched her eyebrow.  "And you used the fire extinguisher against her." I said and he just shrugged.    Lander turned to the cats.  "So, what's for dinner?" Lander asked them.  "Dinner?" Lander's familiar, Luntian asked entering the kitchen.    Midnight and Twilight looked at each other before shrugging.    I sighed and walked towards the fridge.  "Tita Wella and tita Wendy said they'll be late. So it's up to us to feed ourselves." I said looking inside the fridge.    Lander sighed and put his hands inside his jeans pockets.  "I'll just buy something from the resto. You stay Luntian. " He said and walked out.    When Lander was gone I turned to the cats.  "Okay tweedledee, tweedledum." I started.  "We didn't do anything." The cats said in unison.  "You pissed her off again." I said.  "We did not." They argued in unison.    I rolled my eyes.  "Whatever." I grumbled and walked away. I went back to my room and saw my familiar Alena, the otter playing with Flair's familiar Kalayo.  "Why are you here Kalayo?" I asked the red macaw as I sat on my couch.  "Flair sent me away. I don't know if its her time of the month or she's just being herself." Kalayo said.    I giggled.  "Oh Kalayo. If Flair can here you, you'll be wishing you're a Phoenix ." I told him.    Alena laughed at Kalayo's stunned face.  "Okay you two. You can play here but please, refrain from making too much noise and making a mess." I told them before grabbing my phone and headphones. And then took my hair tie from my wrist and tied my hair into a high ponytail, then I wore my headphones. I took my phone and played some music. I pulled my legs up and laid down.    I love peace and quiet and just listen to soft melodies. My name is Candice Aquelta dela Torre. I'm 18, and I am what you can call engkantao of water. My mom is human, a very beautiful woman. No wonder my father fell for her. My dad is obviously not human. His name is Haik, the god of the sea.    When I was young my mom would tell me stories on how she met dad. She said she met him when she's on vacation in an island somewhere in Visayas. Since he's so good looking and smooth talker, a perfect gentleman, my mom fell for him. Went out for a couple of dates, made love under the moonlight, and nine months later I was born. My mom decided to live on the island together with my dad.    We lived a happy life in the island. When I was five, my mom had cancer. It was too late that she died when I was six. From then on, it's just my dad and I. He's the one who explained to me what he really is. He told me that he is an engkanto, a god actually of the sea, and me being his daughter will inherited his powers. I was seven when my powers first emerged, and dad helped me control it. I can produce water and bend them on my will. I can also breathe underwater. Cool huh?   He even introduced me to the creatures under his rule, like the kataws, siyokoy and sirena. They are really nice creatures. The kataws taught me how to bend water, the siyokoys taught me how to swim and the sirenas taught me how to use my beauty and charm.    When I was seven, my father sent me to my assigned guardians which is tita Wella and tita Wendy's home. He said I have to live there for my further training. My father said it is necessary for me to be able to live as a human too, while learning about my powers. My dad said that he loves me very much and he will always be with me even though I can't see him.    It was really hard for me to leave the island but I know its for the best. And I didn't regret living here at all. Living in this house with these people made me feel normal and abnormal at the same time. It's home, and they're family.    We were all together when were first presented to the leaders of the organization, the Katolanon, Lakan and the different datus. As our membership gift, as I like to call it, they gave each one of us mutya and bolo as our weapon. The mutya gave us more strength, abilities and powers. And mine was telepathy and invisibility. Our weapon can be transformed into something else we want. From being a bolo, I can transform mine into a bow and arrow.    Thinking about my friends, on how they handle everything, how they lived not knowing their engkanto parents made me feel sad. Unlike me who grew up with my engkanto father, they never met theirs. Windzy, at least can hear her father's whispers in the wind, but Lander and Flair haven't even heard from their parents. Especially Flair who's mother cannot even leave her domain.    Everything is hard for us, but we have each other. We are family, and that's important.  °°°°°°°°°°   I was startled when I heard a loud knock on my door. I groaned and sat up, removing my headphones.  "What?" I grumbled.  "Dinner's ready!"    I heard Windzy from behind my closed door. "Yeah, be there in a sec." I told her.   I heard a faint 'Okay' before I climbed down the bed. "Food. Food. Food." Kalayo and Alena chanted together.   I shook my head and went out of my room with the familiars following me.
