CHAPTER SEVEN

I immediately pull away from him, I genuinely do not like the way my body is reacting to his touch. I shouldn’t be feeling that way with another man ever.

“I have to go” I grab my bag and rush out of the house, no, I can’t let that happen.

I don’t even give him an opportunity to come after me because the moment I get to my car, I zoom off before he appears in front of my car again.

As soon as I turn on the main road, I bring my car to a halt before letting out a huge sigh.

What the hell was I thinking agreeing to stay for dinner and even agreeing to stay and do the dishes with him? What the hell was I thinking letting him kiss me? What the heck was I thinking letting him touch me and letting my imaginations run wild.

Zach will be so disappointed in me, how can I let that happen? A wolf is bound to its mate for the rest of its life so why the heck did I allow another man touch me?

I press my head against the headrest and close my eyes, this isn’t right and this shouldn’t happen ever again, no matter what.

With this at the back of my mind, I turn on my ignition again and start for home.

The moment I bring the car to a halt, I see Jayden coming towards me and I can swear something is up from the look on his face.

“Hey, you haven’t been picking your calls”

“I was busy” I tell him, “did something happen?”

“Not really, was just worried about you”

“We are twins, Jayden. You can not lie to me, tell me what has happened?”

“You…

“Odette” another familiar voice cuts him off and I freeze, i know that voice, I f*****g know that voice

Looking past Jayden, I catch a glimpse of a familiar man walking towards us and my heart skips a beat, even my wolf howled out in surprise.

Him? How is he here? How did he get here? What the heck is happening?

I have a lot of questions on my mind as he continues to walk towards me.

“Jayden.,,” my brother’s name comes out in almost a whisper, “him?”

He looks so different from the last time I saw him. He looks more manly, more handsome and so different from the man I remembered.

But that’s not the question now, how is he alive when I watched him die and even performed his funeral?

“Odette” he comes to a halt in front of me, a smile creeping up on his face.

“Zach?” I finally find my voice even though it’s quivering so bad, “you?”

Without saying anything, he pulls me into his embrace and that scent of his filters into my nose, that bond that I couldn’t feel for three years comes rushing into my head. I become aware of everything about him, his scent, his presence, his body and everything that makes him my mate.

Fuck!! It has been three years, it felt like forever and I missed him so much.

I slowly pull away from him, surprise still written on my face.

“How?” I ask him again.

“I have missed you, Odette” he says cupping my face, “these past three years have been hell for me, i wanted to come to you, to come see you and hold you in my arms again. I missed our bond and everything we shared”

“How are you alive, Zach? I watched you die and..

“I didn’t die” he says, “a witch took care of my wolf for three years and I was able to be resuscitated”

“And your funeral?”

“It was all planned baby” he replies, “and I couldn’t tell you, I wanted to be sure I would live and I..

“For three years?” I step away from him, hurt evident on my face, “you have been alive and you didn’t bother to come see me?” Tears wells up in my eyes, “I blamed myself everyday for your death, for the past three years I was…” my voice trails off, I don’t even know what to say. I am f*****g happy that he is alive but he didn’t deem it fit to even come to me?

“Why..

“I am going to explain everything to you later sweetheart” he tells me, cupping my face in his hands, “but right now, I just want to hug you and feel at home again. I have missed you so much”

He pulls me into his embrace again and I melt into his arms. I can’t even get mad at him, not when I missed him like crazy.

“Oh Selene!!” I wrap my hands around him and bury my face in his chest, this is what I have longed for. He is back, my Zach is back.

“I have come to take you home, my love” he whispers over my hair, “I spoke with your parents and they said you haven’t been to our house in three years, I had it cleaned up as soon as I came back and now I want to take you home with me, I want….

“But…

“You should go with him, Odette” Jayden butt in, “he spoke to mum and dad for a while, I am sure they will understand”

“But I still…

“I will tell them you left”

“Yeah?” I feel too overwhelmed to even compose a speech. My mate is standing in front of me, what more can I ask for?

“Of course” Jayden flashes me a smile, “I gat you”

“Thank you”

Zach grabs a hold of my hand and leads me towards a car, one which I didn’t notice since.

“This is new!!”

“There are a lot of things you do not know yet, my love” he opens the Audi door for me and I slip in, in no time, he zooms off the premises.

Selene!!! This man, he is back and he looks so different, so handsome. The Zach from three years ago didn’t look like this, this one is much more muscular and he looks more powerful in his black tux.

“I could kiss you right now” he turns to me for a split second, “I f*****g missed you babe”

I have a lot of questions for him but I just keep mute, looking at him. I want to be sure I am not being deceived, this is my f*****g mate beside me.

“Thank you so much goddess” I mutter under my breath as a tear slips out of my eyes.

After about forty minutes, we finally reach our apartment. A house I have not been to in three years and it looks so lively, so beautiful like we have been living in it together.

“Did you do all this?” I can’t help but ask as he helps me alight from the car.

“I am making arrangements for a much bigger house babe” Zach tells me, “we won’t have to stay here for long”

My mouth opens but I clamp it shut. I don't even know what to say.

Before I can say anything else, he gathers me into his arms and makes his way into the house.

As soon as we step into the living room, he drops me against the wall and immediately claims my lips.

The image of Malachi flashes in my head and I immediately shove Zach off.

Why did I shove him off?

“Are you okay?” He inquires, his breath is ragged and I am sure he has missed me just like I have missed him.

“Are you thinking of another man right now?” He sounds a bit hurt and I immediately nod my head in the negative, I seem to have forgotten that my mate can hear my thoughts.

“It’s no one” I tell him, “just a random guy that tried to mess with my head but I swear nothing happened. You would have known through our bond”

“Of course baby” he yanks me closer again, “I know you are mine and mine alone”

This time, I pull him closer again and kiss him, a kiss that signifies my hunger and heat for him.

This is the best gift the moon goddess has given me in years, I don’t know how to thank her enough.

He grabs a hold of my hair tie and tugs it off, letting my silver hair fall all over my face.

“I love it when your hair is down, baby” he whispers into my ear before claiming my lips again.

I guess we can have s*x before talking, I f*****g missed him.

Pulling him closer, I deepen the kiss and not long, our naked bodies become one again.

Zach pulls me closer to him while pressing a kiss on my naked back and I can’t help but smile.

The most amazing gift the moon goddess gave me for my upcoming birthday, I couldn’t be more grateful to her and excited about the fact that I have my mate and my husband here with me.

“I have missed you so much baby” he whispers into my ear and my body tingles.

“Now tell me” I turn to face him, “what happened zach, why didn’t you come to me if you were alive and why didn’t I feel you were alive?”

He caresses my cheeks lightly, “I couldn’t come to meet you” he tells me, “I was badly wounded and had to go through intense training to be able to get on my knees again. That witch helped me a lot, I now have a pack of my own baby”

“A pack?” Genuine confusion flashes through my face, “the last I remembered….

“Yeah, I was training to be an alpha wolf but now baby, three years has made me a strong man. A very strong one and I am more than capable of giving you everything you want, everything at all. Be it the money you need or the respect of being a Luna, you will get it all. I don’t want to delve deeper into what happened three years ago but I want you to know that I am back to make everything right”

My cheeks flush, I don’t even want to know what happened three years ago, I don’t want to know the pain he had to go through. He is back now and that’s what matters the most.

“I have come to take you with me and make you into the queen that you are”

My lips curl into a smile, “I don’t want anything else as long as I have you babe”

I kiss the tip of his nose and snuggle closer to him.

A call comes through his phone almost instantly and he gently pulls away from me.

“Let me answer this call baby” he says while climbing out of bed, a small frown appears on my face.

“Can’t you just answer the call here?”

“It’s an important call, princess”

He presses a kiss on my forehead again before making his way towards the bathroom.

I don’t let my thoughts linger much on that.

I pull up the blanket up to my chest as the smile on my face intensifies,

“In your face, Malachi” I think deep inside my head. But why the heck does all this feel so surreal and so sudden?
