"He has been gone for about an hour."

A lot of things could happen in an hour, and to think that he was alone in a zombie-infested area. I gritted my teeth as I sped up back to the V-Zone. I dropped out of the truck after knowing what happened and looked for an abandoned bike.

Please be okay.

I kept chanting those words inside my head as if a mantra to keep my head cool. I passed the buses without slowing down. All I could think of was Leander.

How could no one notice that he was gone?

I saw him standing at the bus door. Did he fall asleep and fall on the bus? He wasn't that dumb, and I saw someone standing in front of him on that flat form.

It would be impossible that someone did not notice when Leander fell. Or did they both fall? Or that someone pushed him out of the bus?

My mind was creating all possible situations, from worst to safe scenarios. I don't know why I easily lose my cool when it comes to Leander. Damn! I must like him so much.

The sun was already at the highest peak in the sky. Maybe due to burning the entire zones, the heat wave was getting hotter as the day progressed. I just hope that Leander found a place to hide and wait for backup.

AFTER ALMOST forty minutes of driving, my face felt like it was burned from the heat of the sun but my senses heightened when my nose detected a familiar scent. A sweet, orangey scent and it was strong enough that it spread across the factory area of a certain private road.

The scent of an omega in heat and my heart was beating so fast thinking it might be Leander.

But he was a beta.

Either he lied about being a beta and took suppressants or I made him an omega since there are cases where a beta could change into an omega after being exposed to a dominant alpha's pheromones, but the process would take a very long time.

Or maybe someone one was there and not Leander.

I parked the bike in the middle of the road and climbed down, looking around the deserted place. It was so quiet that I could hear my breathing. No zombies were around but a single dead zombie was laying with its head cut off.

My heartbeat quickened. Leander did it. I walked as fast and as quiet as I could until I found a familiar sword laying on the pavement and a few meters ahead was a small guard post where the dizzying scent was coming from.

It was so sweet as if it was luring me.

I ran towards the guard post, picked the sword on the way, and walked around the post, checking the inside through the front glass window and I felt so relieved seeing Leander inside, lying on the floor in a fatal position.

The door was not locked and the moment I opened it, I almost couldn't breathe due to the thick heat pheromone inside the small space. I cough as I try to recall those times during my training. Since we were all Alphas, we had training that specialized in suppressing our desire when inhaled an omega in heat pheromone.

Leander's pheromone was orange-scented and it was the same scent that had me on my knees before. I had smelled different omega pheromones but not as potent as the scent Leander was releasing.

I bit my lips as I hurriedly checked Leander. He was lying on the cold floor, curling like a homeless kitten and breathing heavily despite being unconscious. The inhibitor won't work for him since his heat has started already. The only thing that could suppress it was through mating.

I gathered Leander in my arms, letting him sit on my lap, his back on my chest and I took a seat on the floor, leaning my back on the wall, cradling him. His back was wet with cold sweat. I bit on my lower lip as I fought my alpha instinct but I couldn't fight my body from not getting aroused.

I will give him a temporary mark to ease his heat in the meantime. I took a deep breath as I chanted inside my head.

Don't lose control.

Don't let your instinct control you.

I groaned when Leaner's scent grew thicker making me feel dizzy. A minute more of being exposed and I would lose my mind.

I took a deep breath as I calmly reached for the buttons of his uniform until it was halfway open, pulling the collar down revealing a fair and thin nape. I was biting my lower lip so hard that I could taste blood in the process. I only have to bite him.

I spat the blood on my lips and I bit Leander on his nape.

"Uggh... ugh." Leander jerked his body but I wrapped my arms around his waist as I bit harder. I don't know whose blood I was tasting. Maybe it was Leander's since it tasted sweet.

I let go when I felt like my consciousness was going to fade. Breathing heavily, I wanted to go out and slaughter some zombie to stop myself from doing something I did not want to do.

"Tilden?"

It was a faint sound but it was enough for me to hear Leander. His voice was coarse.

"Yes, it's me. I'll get you out of here." I coaxed, kissing the top of his head.

"It's hot, nggh." He whimpered and I stopped his hands from removing his coat.

"Please..." He cried and I almost died when he rubbed his body on mine.

I never felt this aroused before and he was rubbing his bottom on my crotch making me feel like I would vomit blood. His pheromone was no joke.

How come the temporary mark did not work?

Instead, it rebounded by Leander releasing more pheromones making it harder to breathe that I occasionally hold my breath as long as I can, but the moment I breathe in, my head becomes dizzy. My hands that were holding his hands were shaking. My body was so hot and my heart was pounding so fast.

"Leander." I groaned as I raised my arm and bit on it. I couldn't even feel the pain from the bite. It felt like my whole body was getting numb.

If this continues, I might enter a forced rut. We might get stuck in that place and I would not stop, not until I fill Leander....

Stop.

I'll have to mark him again.

"Tilden... Just a little bit, nggh... I think I'm going to die." Leander's body shook. "Help me." He sobbed. "It hurts...nghh."

Leander stopped fighting and his stiff body went limp in my arms as if losing consciousness.

The place was so cramped that lying down was impossible, so we stayed in that position. I undid the clasp of his pants, setting his erect length free.
