Chapter 14

"I will create a world where no one can hurt you." My ears were ringing but it was strange how I could hear something so clear. Or maybe it was my thoughts but I was too disoriented to figure the voice was. Through blurry vision, I saw a figure walking or maybe running towards me. It may be a zombie. I groaned as I stood up with my left arm aching since it hit the ground first and glanced again in the direction where I saw the figure. Maybe I was hallucinating when there was no one there instead I saw the sword lying a few meters away. I slowly walked to where the sword was. I was lucky at least I had a sword with me, increasing my chance of survival. I was sure that my heat was already starting and in the middle of nowhere together with zombies. I know who pushed me, that spoiled bastard who also caused the zombie outbreak back at the dorm. I gritted my teeth as I picked the sword thinking it was lucky of me that I wasn't cut with the sword during the fall. "Motherfucker." I cursed as I felt my ribs hurt when I bent down. "I swear I'm going to feed that bastard to the zombies." I scanned the place and how could I be so lucky to fall in the middle of an industrial road. Huge buildings of cylindrical structures for manufacturing were everywhere and lines of long warehouses. The bus took a shortcut, away from the highway and passed in a private road that leads there. The place has a huge possibility of zombies hiding in every corner. That bastard had really chosen a good place to push me. The sun was hanging above me that it was so hot and I was beginning to feel thirsty. I was wandering around the place to find a shelter. I could feel my heat was already starting making my body feel sluggish. The spare inhibitor was left at the dorm when the commotion happened. "Dammit." I cursed but paused when I heard a growl. It was a zombie idling at the nearest warehouse where I was standing. I gripped the sword tighter, ready to swing it anytime, the rays of the sun hit the blade producing a beam of scattered light and it somehow reached where the zombie was, shining on its eyes briefly. "Fvck your ancestors." I muttered when the zombie saw me and started running. Its growl was so loud in that deserted place and it would be bad if it could attract more zombies. I ran, spreading my arm that was holding the sword and swung it before the zombie could jump at me. Though it was only the tip of the blade that touched its neck, it still cut through the rotten flesh and I watched as the head dropped on the ground. It did not even roll away, it just splattered like an overly ripe fruit and it emitted a foul stench. It made me gag but another growl stopped me from puking my disgust out. I could not even take my sweet time puking. Not just one, two, or five zombies showed up. Maybe more than twenty. They came from every direction in front of me since my back was facing a wide space and the tall fence that was fifty meters away. I turned around and ran as fast as I could, following the road, I could already hear their growls getting louder and nearer as I looked straight ahead, aiming to hide at the small guard house or post but my legs were starting to get tired. I could feel my muscles throbbing and hurting. I grunt on every step that I take just when a group of zombies appears from a warehouse on my left, running straight towards me. I had a horde of zombies chasing me from the back and now to my left and judging from the distance of the zombies and to the guard post. I could not make it. I screamed as I run faster, enduring the pain in my legs and the heat of the scorching sun that was sucking my strength, the wind hitting my face felt heavier, my heartbeat getting louder and beating faster. Stop running! You can't make it. This is the end. I don't have to suffer anymore. I gritted my teeth so hard as I threw my negative thoughts away. Run! Faster! Dammit! My mind says I could make it. I would make it but my legs say otherwise. "Ahhh!" I screamed and my vision spun when a zombie jumped from my side, throwing our bodies to the ground. I landed on my back and I saw how these disgusting creatures pilled up on top of me making it feel so heavy and hot. I thought the loudest thing I could hear was my heartbeat throbbing in my ears but it was overcome by the loud growls of zombies. I JOLTED awake with my heartbeat drumming in my chest. It was pounding so fast and loud and my body was covered with cold sweat but it was hot inside. I was shivering. It was just a dream. I actually made it to the guard house. I did not know what happened after I got inside that small space. I passed out even before I could sit down to take a breath. "Shit." I muttered. My heat was at its peak. I could not move my body as I lay at an awkward angle since the place was so small, enough for six people to stand shoulder to shoulder. I was dizzy, hot and tingling. I could not explain my body but I wanted to touch myself. As if I was craving to be touched. I balled my fists, refusing to give in and hoped that it would stop. I used my remaining energy to endure and ignore everything until it started to subside. But after a few minutes, it came back with a vengeance. As if my body was rejecting me, everything inside me was so hot that I felt like my insides were boiling. The trembling would not stop. I bit my lower lip until it bleed. I badly wanted something and someone flashed in my mind before everything went dark. .......
