O.B. paced the floor in his apartment. After the events of the past twenty-four hours he felt like a caged lion. It was bound to happen sooner or later, he thought. You can’t be gay in a high-profile professional sport and expect to live the life you want. Somebody’s gonna find out. Since the guy who’d done the interview had turned out to be the man he’d seen in the gay bar the night before, O.B. was wary of going back to the Out and Proud in case Avery would be there. Avery hadn’t let on that he’d seen O.B. leaving with Chuck, but O.B. wasn’t gonna take a chance. Although he considered them below his standards, he thought of going to one of the other gay establishments in town. Avery had said the interview wouldn’t be aired until midweek. That gave O.B. a couple more nights of anonymity
