21 Shortly after she arrived back in the office, Dexter knocked on her door and entered. ‘Everything alright?’ ‘Fine, Dex. What’s up?’ ‘The suicide angle. I’ve been doing a bit of research, looking into suicide pacts. Do you remember the Bridgend thing in Wales a few years ago? Twenty-six young people in Bridgend killed themselves in the space of two years.’ ‘Well, yeah. Have you ever been to Bridgend?’ ‘In the ten years prior to that, the average in the town was three a year,’ Dexter said, ignoring her barb. ‘They reckon there’s been more since and that we’re up to seventy-nine now. The police have asked the media to stop reporting them, because each time they do, more happen.’ ‘I’m vaguely familiar with it.
