By the time Caroline and Dexter got back to the incident room, Sara and Aidan were already back at their desks.
‘How’d it go?’ Sara asked.
Caroline took a deep breath and sighed. ‘About as well as could be expected. He confirmed what he’d admitted when we spoke to him at his house. We turned the pressure up a bit, showed him the CCTV of the car and mentioned it was registered to Megan. Solicitor whispered in his ear and suddenly it was No Comment City. How about you?’
‘Much the same. She says Alex came over to hers around seven o’clock on Sunday night and left about eight o’clock on Monday morning. She says neither of them left her flat at any point.’
Caroline nodded. ‘Find out who owns the block of flats. Megan said there isn’t any CCTV, but there is some that covers the car park.
