30 He was starting to feel very unhappy with the way things had been going recently. He’d made one or two mistakes — who hadn’t? — but now he was beginning to feel everything unraveling around him. He didn’t think he was a bad person. Not at heart. But sometimes one lie, one mistruth, led you down a road from which there was no return. He’d got so tangled up in lies and misdirection, he barely knew himself what the truth was anymore. The plan had been to move away. London looked most promising, if he was able to get a job there.
