Cinder
It is finally the night of the ball, and I’m nervous. Today is my eighteenth birthday, and my mate could be anywhere. I’m finally able to search for them, but so far, I haven’t seen a single soul today. Every single pack member is busy preparing for the Luna Ball, including my family members. I haven’t even seen my evil stepsisters, but I suppose that’s a good thing since they usually just bully me.
“Hmm,” my fairy godmother, Alathea, scratches her chin while flying around me. We are in the forest and preparing for my arrival at the mansion. “Do you want to arrive in a horse carriage, or is that too old school?”
I snort. “Definitely too old school. I love the idea, but this isn’t a Disney movie - I would prefer to arrive in a black, sleek car that looks very expensive.”
“Noted,” Alathea looks around until her eyes land on a bird watching us from a tree. She claps her hands. “Ah, perfect - I’ve found your chauffeur!”
My eyes widen. “The bird?!”
“Yes, I will transform him!” Alathea says and lifts her tiny little fairy hands into the air. Light envelops her, and her wings sparkle like glitter as she utters her spell, “Cheesy-makeover-storm!”
I watch in amazement as the bird transforms into a tall, handsome man dressed in a black suit. He looks strong and confident, his eyes fixed on me.
“Whoa,” I whisper under my breath and shake my head to clear my thoughts. “Thank you, Alathea. You never fail to amaze me.”
She winks at me. “It’s my job, Cinder. Now, shall I start with your makeover? You wanted me to make you taller and remove your blemishes for the evening, right? So that your stepfather won’t be able to recognize you?”
“If it’s not too much to ask for,” I tell her.
Her smile is wide. “Of course not.”
Alathea’s wand glows, and a wave of light covers me. I feel a tingle all over my body as the fairy godmother’s spell works its magic.
Suddenly, I grow taller, my skin clears up, and my hair becomes shiny and lustrous. I look in amazement at my reflection in the river next to us, and I can hardly recognize myself.
“Wow,” I say, impressed. “That’s amazing. Thank you so much, Alathea.”
“You’re welcome,” she says with a grin. “Now, let’s give you the most beautiful dress.”
Alathea waves her wand again, and a beautiful black gown materializes on me. It’s a strapless dress with a tight bodice that flares out into a mermaid skirt. The top of the dress is adorned with black lace that traces its way down the bodice, and the skirt sparkles under the moonlight.
I twirl around, admiring the way the dress accentuates my curves. “Alathea, this is perfect,” I say, beaming at her.
“I know,” she replies, her wings fluttering with excitement. “But we’re not done yet. We need to give you some accessories.”
Alathea waves her wand again, and a pair of black high heels appear on my feet. They are studded with small diamonds that glitter as I walk. Next, she hands me a small clutch bag that matches my dress perfectly.
“Thank you so much,” I say, wishing I could hug the tiny little fairy to thank her. I settle for letting her land in the center of my palm, where I touch her with my fingertips. “I could never have done this without you.”
“That’s what I’m here for,” she says, patting me on the skin close to my thumb. “Now, let’s get you to the ball.”
She flies up into the air and leads me to the car. The handsome chauffeur opens the door for me with a smile, and I slide into the back seat. It doesn’t take long until we arrive at the mansion. The place where I live, but tonight I’m going to pretend as if I’m a stranger.
I smile. “This is going to be so much fun. No one will know who I am and...wait,” I turn around to look at Althea, who is sitting in the car seat beside me. “Are you sure people won’t recognize me by my scent?”
“No, honey,” she beams up at me. “No one will be able to tell that you’re you, Cinder. Don’t even worry about it. All the little details have been taken care of by me. You’re safe to just go in there and have fun without any obstacles.”
‘She is not lying,’ my wolf confirms. ‘Althea has altered your scent for the evening - no one will recognize us.’
Relief fills my chest. “Thank you, Althea. This means a lot to me.”
She laughs. “Don’t mention it.”
When I enter the building, I’m shocked by the amount of people attending the Luna Ball. I had previously assumed it would only be mostly older ladies coming here, hoping for my stepfather to notice them. But I now realize that she-wolves of all ages are here.
‘It shouldn’t come as a surprise - your stepfather is the Alpha and also rich - of course every woman want him. He is also extremely good-looking.’
I sigh. ‘I suppose that’s true and honestly, I don’t really care. I just wish there were more males here since it would be amazing to find my mate.’
‘Hmm...’
‘What?’
‘Remember that you don’t look like yourself right now - flirting with your mate right now and seducing them...I don’t know. Don’t you think that would equal catfishing? No offense, but Alathea’s magic made you very pretty.’
I mentally cringe while picking appetizers from different butlers holding up plates. ‘No, you’re right - it would be for the best if I didn’t find my mate tonight—’
Suddenly my nose hits something hard - I think it’s someone’s chest, and I almost fall backwards from the impact. Luckily, I’m saved by two large hands belonging to the stranger. They land on my shoulders, steadying me.
“Easy there.”
No-no-no! I would recognize that voice anywhere - it’s Pike, but that’s not why I’m panicking. It’s because of the shiver racing through my body and the butterflies swarming my chest. Heat rises to my face the second our eyes meet, and deep inside of me, my inner wolf is screaming, “Mate!” which is terrible. I don’t want to be fated to my own stepfather!
I stare up at my stepfather in terror, expecting Pike to scowl at me like usual, but instead, I find him staring back down at me with a...curious expression? It baffles me. I’ve never had him give me such a not-threatening look before. It must be because he can’t recognize me.
And oh-my-god - why does he have to look so damn good in a suit?!
Life is not fair!
My heart races as I take in every detail of his tailored suit and powerful frame. His broad shoulders and tight waist have me feeling dizzy and tempted with forbidden desire. My stepfather looks like a walking fantasy - one that is making me incredibly wet between my legs. Damn it. How do I fight the mate bond????
“How peculiar,” he murmurs without letting go of my shoulders. “This is the first time I see your beautiful face around here, yet you seem so familiar.”
I gulp before attempting to speak in a calm manner. “I can assure you that we have never met before, Alpha Pike.”
His lips curve up by the corners. It’s a look I bet could make any woman weak in the knees. “Call me Pike.”
“Pike,” I repeat his name and inwardly groan when I realize he wants me to introduce myself. This is seriously the most bizarre situation I’ve been in. “My name is Ella.”
“Ella, huh? I like it,” his strong hands travel down from my shoulders, and he takes a step away - only to offer me his hand with a mischievous smile.
I frown. “I’m not very good at dancing.”
He chuckles. “I will lead.”
I’m shocked by his words. Pike has always been strict and mean to me. I’ve never seen this side of him. It’s alien to me, and as I look into his blue eyes, I find myself unable to resist his offer - the mate bond’s pull is too strong.
“Fine,” I place my hand in his, ignoring the tingle that shoots up my spine. “Teach me how to dance and pray your pack members won’t make fun of us.”
Another chuckle. “Oh, they won’t be making fun of us,” he says, and I watch as his smile widens. “You’re the most beautiful werewolf in the room - they are too busy being jealous of me to pay attention to your moves.”
My eyes narrow. “Flatterer.” When did we start dancing?
“It’s the truth,” Pike says while flawlessly moving me around the dancefloor.
My legs are in sync with his. “I don’t believe you.”
He averts his eyes to hide his smile. “I never expected my fated mate to be so cynical.”
And I never expected my mate to be my own stepfather - the moon goddess has a wicked sense of humor.
I hate her.
“Well, if I’m not what you wanted, then go ahead, just reject me already...” I mutter.
“Never.” I look up at him in surprise, and he smiles while we continue dancing. “Only a fool would reject their fated mate without giving them a chance,” he c***s his head to the side. “I hope you feel the same way, but if you don’t, I guess I just have to convince you.”
“How?”
He smirks before placing his hand on the small of my back. I shriek in surprise, but Pike doesn’t care and just presses me against his hard body. My face gets pressed into his muscular chest, and my eyes widen when I feel something obscenely huge and hard press against my belly - his hard, swelling c**k.
It’s f*****g huge.
How is it so big?!
Too shocked to move, I stand still as Pike leans closer to my ear. “I will convince you that you’re mine by f*****g you hard over my desk,” he whispers into my ear and chuckles lowly. “Have you ever had s*x with an Alpha werewolf before, Ellen?”
My breath catches in my throat at the idea of being f****d by my own stepfather in his office. Even though it’s taboo, a part of me likes that idea a little too much. There is already a wet patch between my legs, and I whimper, “N-no...I-I… I’m a virgin.”
“Oh, then it will be my pleasure to ruin you for other men,” Pike sounds darkly amused while caressing my back. “Alpha c***s are far larger than those belonging to normal werewolves. And guess what? We are fated mates - that means I’m going to swell inside of you, baby. I will grow and grow until it feels like you’re ready to explode. Then, once you’re stretched to your absolute limit, I will have you riding me until you’ve come so many times that you can barely stand. You’re going to be a shaking, moaning mess by the time I’m done with you, and then I will empty my seed in you.”
My eyes widen. “You...you wish to have s*x with me?”
“Yes.”
“...to mark me?”
“Of course,” he whispers. “Because I won’t accept your rejection. You’re already mine.”
