My Hybrid Twin Mates

Mate (part one)

Louis's pov 

It was around eleven thirty at night and we were at the river with our friends, celebrating possibly our last day of freedom, we'll be able to sense our mate in just just thirty minutes and even though I'd have preferred spending my last hours with my girlfriend, everyone agreed that we should do the count down together. We were sitting around a large fire with Hope between my legs, leaning her back into me and I was mindlessly drawing circles all over her arm trying to calm her nerves. We were all nervous, I love Hope but if she isn't my mate, then everything I feel now would be meaningless, these feelings will vanish in a split second. I asked my mom about it after I learnt that there was someone else before she met our dads and she explained that everything she thought she felt with him was wiped out of her mind and heart like it never happened and a part of me was afraid of losing what I'd built with Hope, even though I knew she might not be my mate. 

Stephanie kept looking in our direction like she always did when we were hanging out and I could see the mixed emotions on her face, the envy, hatred and fear but I wasn't sure why she was afraid. Not really getting the time to figure it out, Justin distracted her so I didn't really have the chance to decipher the meaning of it. She thinks we don't know but Justin and I have always known that she has a crush on me but I've always seen her as my family and Justin really does like her, she just doesn't like him back. "A few more minutes and you'll forget all about me" Hope whispered and even though she tried to hide it, I could still feel her sadness, "that will only happen if I find my mate" I said kissing the top of her head. She sighed and turned to look at me, "even if you don't find your mate today but you will be looking for her and it wouldn't be right to still hang on to you in stead of looking for my own mate" she said but this time didn't bother to hide the hurt she was feeling. 

I sighed because she was right, if she wasn't my mate then there was no need to continue this relationship, "can we at least remain friends?" I asked pecking her lips and she smiled, though sad but it was better than losing her forever, "we definitely can" she said and kissed me deeply. We broke the kiss and I looked into her beautiful eyes with love and she cuddled into me, I felt a pair of eyes on me and when I looked up, Steph was looking at us with longing in her eyes and Justin was looking at her look at me. "Only a few more minutes before you become my mate" he whispered into her ear while looking at me and I nodded at him, thanking him for the distraction. The action actually caused her to jump, a little startled but she soon regained her composure and turned to him with a playful scowl. "In your dreams f**k boy, the goddess wouldn't punish me with you" she shot back and Hope chuckled, "damn baby, why you so cold, you know you'll be drooling over me in just minutes" he said a little too over confident, draping an arm around her shoulders. She quickly looked in my direction but looked away just as fast, "you mean how you've been drooling over me all these years?" She asked with a sly smile and even I couldn't help but laugh a little. 

A few minutes passed and all eyes went from me to Justin, I looked at Stephanie before looking at Justin and he looked at Hope before he looked at me and the twins looked from us to the two girls. I sighed and held Hope a little tighter and she squeezed my hand, "looks like I'm not your mate" she whispered and I was a little disappointed, even though I had expected it. Stephanie on the other hand looked crushed, she had as broken look on her face and she was looking down at her drink. She gulped it down in one go and stood to leave, "I'm tired, I'm gonna head to bed, I'll see you all in the morning" she said and left in the direction of her house, "sure" "good night" "alright see yah" we called out after her. Justin watched her go but he said nothing, "you should go after her, talk to her" Justin said to me and I looked Hope who nodded, "we all know she really liked you, you should talk to her" she said before kissing me hard, "a goodbye kiss" she chuckled. I looked at my brother and he nodded in her direction, her brothers also giving me the ok to go after their sister, who they're very protective of. When I didn't feel any hostility from Hope, her brothers or mine, I got up and ran after her. 

"Hey Steph, wait up" I said when I was a little close to her, she stopped and turned to look at me, surprise coating her features, she quickly wiped her face and my heart squeezed in pain, I hadn't realised just how upset this was to her. I hugged her tightly the moment I reached her and I felt her sag defeatedly in my arms, "I'm still here and I'm never leaving you" I whispered kissing the top of her head. "Was I that obvious?" She asked once we broke the hug and I just shrugged, "oh goddess, I'm so sorry. Now that I know for sure you're not my mate, it feels a little silly. All those times I kept staring a moment to long or when I even tried to get you to hang out more without Hope around. I'm sorry, I hope this doesn't change our relationship" she said with a nervous smile and I smiled back. "Nah, we're cool, come on, let me walk you home" I said draping an arm around her shoulders, pulling her to me and walking her home. 

"How is she?" Justin asked the second I went into our room, "she's fine, her heart is a little heavy but she'll be alright" I said taking off my shirt and laying on my bed. "You knew she liked me, this whole time, why did you keep asking her out?" I asked my brother, really curious, "honestly, it was a way to distract her, I mean yeah I like her but not as bad as I made it seem but I still think she would have made an incredible mate. She's smart, kind and strong, not to mention crazy hot, she'd make a great Luna" he said and I pondered on his words and he was right, Stephanie would make a great Luna, just not ours, "yeah, she would" I said admitting it out loud. "Get some rest, we have a big day tomorrow, I mean today" he said and I raised my head to look at him, "oh so you do want a mate?" I asked with a laugh, "Steph is gonna want her own mate, I don't stand a chance, now let me sleep" he said turning to the other side. I laughed but laid back down and drifted off to sleep. 

I woke up to the sound of something breaking and was immediately alert, I got up from the bed and noticed Justin was awake as well, "what the hell was that?" He asked getting up and I just shrugged going for the door. "Oh no, what happened? Why did you break it?" I heard my mother's voice filter through the closed door and my hand that was about to open the door fell back to my side. "It slipped aunt Ro, I'm sorry" Cam's voice came through and I went back to bed. "False alarm" Justin said throwing himself on his bed and I laid down, closed my eyes and hoped for sleep to consume me but I wasn't so lucky. "Boys, get out here, I know you're up" mom called and Justin groaned into his pillow, I sighed getting up, "coming!" I called out before I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth. 

"Can we just get one day, one day to ourselves" Justin said coming into the bathroom and joining me by the sink, I finished brushing while he was complaining non stop, "we're legal now, we can move into the pack house now stop whining you big baby" I said leaving him in there to find something to wear. He was still whining about his beauty sleep being cut short when we left our room, "suck it up buddy" I said walking into the kitchen, "happy birthday!" The small crowd in the kitchen yelled as we went in, our entire family was in there, and even though we had a big kitchen, it was still crowded in there, "ncaaw you remembered" Justin coed playfully and everyone laughed. We all gathered around the dining table for breakfast, more like a feast, the party was at the pack house but you'd swear it was here. 

"So, what do you guys wanna do?" Brian asked as we left the house after the breakfast party we just had, "as much as I'd love to hang out with your guys, I gotta go to the hospital for my shift" Amanda, Brian and Brandon's mate said giving each a kiss before leaving. She was a nurse at the pack hospital and really loved her job, "Cam, Hope and I got some things to do, we'll see you at the party if not before then" Stephanie said pulling a whining Cam behind her. "Well, looks like it's just us men, what are we doing?" Justin asked, "who's down for some video games?" Brandon suggested and I nodded, this was probably the last day the four of us will have before the responsibilities of leading the pack take most if not all our time, "I'm just glad we had the greatest Alphas to learn from" Justin said through our mind link and I rolled my eyes, he's in my head again. Though I do agree with him, our dads are the best Alphas right now and we plan on being better, taking this pack to higher levels, like they did after the war. 

We decided to go to the pack house, since the TV there is bigger and just get used to the place, we'll be living there now anyway. Girls were all over us the moment we stepped into the house, probably hoping to be our mate but were dissapointed to discover that they weren't, although Justin really was enjoying the attention. It actually took us a while to get to the entertainment room because of all the girls that kept stopping to talk to us and it was really starting to irritate me. "Dude, chill" Justin said making me realise that my Alpha aura was leaking and most of the girls didn't even try to approach me, only the brave ones. I took a deep breath and went on to my desired destination, "s**t I smell like a woman, it's like they decided to use their entire bottles of perfume today. I need to shower before Sophia smells this on me" Brian said taking off his shirt, he was right, the first thing I noticed when we came into the pack house is the smell of perfume, a lot of it. 

We played call of duty for I don't know how long but every few minutes, a girl would come into the room bringing either food or drinks, it was really annoying. "Boys, come to the office" my father's voice came through the link, I looked at my brother and he nodded, we got up to leave but Brandon and Brian also got up and came with us, "you got called too?" I asked and Brian nodded as we made our way up the stairs to the top floor where our fathers' office was. We knocked before going inside and I looked at the two Alphas sitting behind their desks, we sat on a couch on the corner of the room and waited for them to address us. "We wanted to discuss security for tonight with the two of you and your betas, you'll be official in a few hours, might as well start now" one said and the other nodded, I guess our duties start now.

"I think we need maximum security for tonight" Brandon said, "in case there is an attack, be it vampire or rogue. Tonight is very important to the pack, if I was a rogue or vampire, I'd choose a day where everyone is preoccupied to attack, it's easy and it will cause chaos" Brian finished the sentence, like they always do. "The witches need to be alert, in case of an attack, we'll need to safely and quickly evacuate the elderly and young into the bunkers" Justin said, "mom and earth witches need to make sure the forest is literally impenetrable, if anyone does attack, it won't be easy to reach the pack" I said and our dads nodded with small smiles. "See Xavier, I told you they were ready" dad said to the other, "yeah, they definitely are ready. We can retire in peace knowing the pack is in good hands" our other dad said. "How's it going with finding your mate?" Dad asked and I shook my head, "we haven't found her, Da..." "Or them" I started saying but I was so rudely interrupted by my evil twin brother, I glared at him for a moment, making sure he would be quiet. After smiling mischievously at me, I looked back at our fathers, "as I was saying, we haven't found her... Or them" I added quickly when I noticed Justin open his mouth from the corner of my eye. 

"Well then let us not keep you, the pack is quite big, keep looking" dad said but I shook my head just as Justin shook his, I guess Trey already told him. "She isn't here, I mean part of the pack" I said and they looked at me confused, "what? How do you even know that?" Brian asked and Brandon scoffed at his brother, "they are phoenix', of course they know she isn't here" he said. "Trey can't sense her anywhere in the territory or close for that matter" Justin said, "Damien too" I said and the possibility of us sharing a mate became more plausible. "Alright then, we'll have the pack fortified, you can leave now and I suggest you start getting ready for the party, you want to look your best on your first night as Alphas and betas" dad said and we got up, bowed our heads to show respect to our Alphas and left. It seemed like we had spend the entire day playing games because it was already late in the afternoon, "we'll see you guys at the party" Brian said giving me a fist pump and they left for their house while we went on our way.
