Maxwell’s POV “You cannot be serious Mom and dad” I gave them both a disbelieving look. Their ultimatum was not something I was expecting. They wanted me to get married to a princess. “You gave us your decision about not finding your mate. Now it is only right that you accept our decision” says dad. “Fair enough, don’t you think?” ask mom with a smirk on her face. “Mom is this the decision made because witch Mona said that my mate thing is somehow related to the Campbell castle?” I ask with a knowing look. Mom took her time in replying. “Some of it, but we have no idea how it is related to your mate or you. Only time will tell how things will unfold. I cannot say for sure because we hardly know anything” she explained. “You want me to get married to princess Nina?” I ask with my eyebrows raised. “You got that right. She is eighteen years old. Her dad is a vampire king. Nina is a vampire princess. It will be good for us. We are thinking to make an alliance with them” dad explained further to me. Realization dawned on me. “Oh, so all this for the Alliance?” i asked them as my gaze swept from mom to dad. All this time, granddad Ace was silent. Turning to him, I wanted to know his point of view as well. “Do you also think the same granddad?” I was hoping for a negative response from him. He has always been the one who supported me and my wishes. “Well for once, your mom and dad are right. I support their decision. It is good for the alliance which we will be making with them if things go accordingly” he states. I could not hide the disappointment which reflected in my eyes. “Don’t be disappointed. I have supported you always because I know most of the times you were right. But this time you are on the wrong path” he says to me. “How am I on the wrong path?” I could not help but ask as I threw my hands up in frustration. They were making it difficult for me. “First of all, it was your decision to not find your mate. You wanted to find someone else in her place” she says. I know there was more so I waited for her to complete whatever she wanted to say. “Fine. We accepted that you don’t want your mate. That is why we decided to find someone who will not only bring power to the pack but will also be an alliance. We did not want you to find someone who we would not approve of” she finished her explanation. “You cannot judge my choice before not even giving me a chance to find a girl” I state in a hard tone. Mom shrugged her shoulders at me as she replied “We accepted your decision. It is only right you do the same for us” “So, what about not forcing a decision on me?” I ask with my eyebrows raised. “You brought this upon yourself” states mom. I took a deep breath at her words. I started pacing in front of them. I always do that when things don’t go my way or when they are not under my control. From my peripheral vision I could see three of them sharing a look. They are obviously talking through the mind link. I shook my head and sat down. “Fine” I agreed reluctantly. “So, when are we going to meet the family?” I ask. Mom and dad shared a look. Then all of sudden they got and came towards me. Before I know it, they smothered me with their hugs. I chuckle at their energy.  After that granddad also pulled me in for a hug. “We will be going to meet them in a few days. We had contacted king Dominic’s assistant. The assistant informed us that the king will give us a date once he is free of his schedule” she informs me. “Should I know anything about his family or his daughter?” I inquired as I leaned my back on the sofa. “Except for that they are vampires. Her mom, queen Anabelle is a human but I did not find out if she turned into a vampire as well” explained mom to me. “Interesting. We don’t have the whole information.” I say in a sarcastic tone. Mom raised her eyebrows at that. Giving her a sheepish look, I apologize “I am sorry” “That’s better” she nods at me. “We will tell you a date once we have it” says dad. I nod at him. “If there is nothing else, can I be excused?” both of them nod at me. giving them a nod of my own, I walked out as well. Isabella’s POV We got in the car. Odin ignited the key and started the car. Soon enough we were on the way towards castle Campbell. After the next four hours’ drive, I will come face to face with my family. The family who forgot about me. The mom who was suppose to love me and care for me, forgot about me the moment she got her own family. “Where are you lost?” I came out of my thoughts when I heard Odin’s voice. I turn my face to him. “Nowhere” I reply as I looked out of the window as the trees pass by and our journey was become less as we drive through the door. “You cannot lie very well you know” he pointed out. I looked up at him, I know there is nothing that can be kept hidden from him. I took my time in replying “Come on tell me, what is bothering you?” he asked. “I am going to meet my family after five long years. Will they be happy to have me back?” I murmured. The worry and nervousness evident in my voice. “They have been waiting for you to come back from a long time. They will be not only happy but ecstatic” he boosts my confidence which I was not feeling at the moment. “I hope you are right. Anyway, I don’t want to expect something which will not happen” I say. “Don’t be so negative Isa. Don’t judge them until you face them” he advised me. I shake my head at him. “I have lived with them for seventeen years before it got too much for me. If I am being like this and doubting them, then it is only because I don’t want to be disappointed later on” I explained to him. “I don’t want your explanation Isa” he starts. “I just want you to meet them with a level head. Keep the past where it belongs” he says in a soft tone. “Easy for you to say Odin. You were not the one who went through all the sufferings” I snapped at him. “Thanks to you, I have to face them once again which I am not ready for” I added. “You are still angry that I gave away your where abouts to your family” he pointed out. “Your right. I am angry at you for putting me through the same thing once again” I whispered. He stops the car at the side of the road and turns to face me. I avoid looking at him first. When he was continuously looking at me and not saying anything, I snapped my head in his direction. Giving him a glare, I ask “What?” my tone came out snappy. “I did not want to see you like that” he says. He takes a deep breath as he continues “I always wanted you to return back to your family. But I also knew you were not ready” He takes my hand in his and gave it a squeeze “No matter how much ever you deny it, you miss them. You miss your family, your dad, your siblings” I looked away from him. He made me face him once again. I was not moving my face when he puts a little pressure on my chin and make me face him. I stayed quiet. He let’s out a sigh “Is it wrong to see one’s friend happy?” he asks me. I shook my head at him. “It is not wrong to wish a friend’s happiness. But it is wrong when they are put into a situation where they have no choice” I inform him. He gives me an apologetic look. “I had no idea that they would act so soon. Your dad promised to give you some time.” He explained. “Then why did Nina come and threatened to shut down the place in which I work?” I ask him. My tone came out angry and hard. He roams his hand through his hair. He does that when he has got nothing to say. “Dad was waiting for you to give away my where abouts. He acted the moment he got the location” I stated. He nods at me in agreement. “I get that now” he murmured giving me an apologetic look. “You being apologetic does not help my situation” I threw my hands up in frustration. “Isabella, please calm down. I don’t want you to be upset when you are going to meet your family after such a long period of time” he murmured. “I can’t help it” I whispered as a tear slipped from my eye. He was quick to wipe it away. “It was never my intention to make you cry. I wanted you to be happy” he looked stressed as he said that. “By looking at your reaction, I feel like I am the cause of your stress and your tears” he confessed in a small tone. His head hung down. Seeing him like this, I started feeling guilty. Odin is the guy who always looked after my happiness. He is like my younger brother. He is always there to protect me when I need him. Feeling that I was too hard on him, I say “I am sorry for not being understanding” At my voice, he snapped his head in my direction in surprise. His eyes wide. After that he grinned at me and pulled me in for a hug. Chuckling, I hugged him back. After some seconds I move back and say “You have always looked after my happiness. I should not vent my anger and stress on you” “It was my duty. After getting to know you and seeing how sad you were, it became my mission to see you happy” he confessed. I placed my hand on his as I passed him a grateful look. He nods at me. “I don’t know what I would have done without you. You have been my support system from such a long time. Without you by my side, I would not be happy” I say. He shakes his head at me “I was meant to be your friend. It was all planned in our destiny” he says. I smile at him “It might be. I don’t know what more I have to see. But the things I have faced has only made me stronger” I say with a smile. “I am glad to hear that” he whispered. “So, shall we leave now?” he asks with his eyebrows raised. Giving him a nod, I reply “Sure. Let’s just face it” my tone was determined. “Now, I am feeling that you are ready for this” he says. I shrugged my shoulder in response “It’s been five long years. I don’t know how well they will receive me” He squeezed my hand in a comforting manner “They will be welcoming. Stop over stressing about it” he chided me in a soft tone. “I can’t help it. The nervousness is getting to me” I whispered. “All the nervousness will go away the moment you meet your family” he assured me. “I hope that whatever you are saying comes true. Because if not, I would be heartbroken” I mumbled. He shook his head at me as he started the car and once again, we were on our way towards my home, the castle Campbell. “Don’t worry. They really miss you. I am sure they will be happy but most importantly surprised to find you standing in front of them” he says. “Your words are bringing a relief to me” I reply. “Smile now. Otherwise, your parents would think that they have lost their smiling daughter” he teased. I chose not to reply at that. Only time will tell what they really feel about me after meeting me in person. “We will see about that” I say and he nods at me. Soon the four hours pass by. It was not long before we turned up a driveway which leads to the gates of the castle Campbell. Seeing that it was Odin, the guards opened the gates. We drove the round entryway groomed with trees on both sides. The guards were new, so they did not recognize me. Once the car stopped, I got out and so did Odin. “Ready?” he asks me. I nod at him and take his hand. With my heart beating furiously, I climbed the steps and the butler who was new as well, opened the front door and announced Odin’s presence. We walked down the long hallway and reached the grand living room. I froze at the spot when Odin announced our presence. “Look who is here” My dad and mom turn around and freeze. I watched as dad walked towards me once he recovered from his shock. Next thing I know, his palm connected with my cheek. I was shocked could be an understatement.
