Chapter 13 the mates point of view

                Asher POV

She left. She just ran out the door after yelling at me. I stand there in a daze looking at the door until Cody pops his head in to see if we are okay.

“Hey man, is everything ok, I heard sis getting pissed off and yell at you and then the door slammed shut.” He says while waving a hand in front of my face. I push him out of the way and run for the front door but as I step outside I see she is already gone. I am pissed at this point. Why the hell cant she just listen to me. I just want her safe. I feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn sharply and let a growl rip threw the air. I see Drake of all people standing there. Of all the bloody people to see when I’m already pissed off.

“Calm down Alpha she will be okay. She gets like this about once a month though. But now that I think about it this is the 3rd time in the past 2 weeks she has been pissed off. She just needs to go for a run. I have extra people running the boarders and one of them said they just let your parents through and they also saw Samantha on the tracks heading to the lake in town, I’m sure she will be fine.” He says with a bow and walks away.

“Drake wait please.” I say and he turns around.

“Do me a favor and talk to Reece. He is miserable right now because he is afraid you will reject him.” He stiffens as I say this but puts on a real smile.

“Do not worry alpha I will not hurt him, I am just trying to find a way to come out about me being Bi. No one knows and I am scared.” He says while looking down.

“Do not worry Drake I will except you with open arms into my pack. As it is Reece is my Beta and I know Samantha will feel loads better having someone she knows in the castle and as her guard. That is as long as you can keep your hands on your own mate.” I say with a laugh at the end.

“Believe me when I say Sam looks like just a sister to me now. She cannot even hold a flame to Reece in my heart. Now if you will excuse me, I think I need to go find my Mate.” He says with a smile.

‘your father will be happy that both of you have found your mates.’ Xander says.

I walk to the Pack house trying to clear my head and before I know it and hour has past. It is now 745am and I still have not heard from Sam. I call her many times but she never picks up. I call Cody and he says everyone has been trying to contact her as well until they found her phone still in our room back at the house. I let out a sigh and begin to feel panicked.

‘You don’t think she left us for good do you?’ Xander Asks.

‘No, she wouldn’t do that. Plus we would have felt the bond break.’ I say trying to calm him down.

‘This is all your fault you dumbass, again you ran her off. She is beyond strong. Hell she took my ass down in no time flat. She is not someone who can be held down.’ He says pissed off at me now.

‘It’s not like I meant to run her off. I just want her to be able to depend on me for once. For 2 years now she has done everything for everyone else and never once complained about it. She needs to learn to let people spoil her a little bit’ I spit back at him.

We walk around until I finally get a text from her at 950am and I let out a sigh. I have cooled down a lot now and know I was in the wrong and I need to apologize to her, badly. It is killing me knowing that she is mad at us.

As she pulls into the drive I see more cars behind her and I know that they are mom and dads but I do not care. I run to her side, pulling her out of the car and into a deep hug. After I apologize to her we meet my parents and as it turns out they have already met. I look at dad as mom is hugging her, not knowing why mom is mad at me. She had cursed me out in my mind link the minute they stepped out of the car. I lock eyes with dad and he tells me everything.

He tells me that her mother was raped, that she saw a figure take her mother but because of a curse she cannot see his details other than a pair of green eyes. He tells me she feels like I don’t love her for who she is and that she thinks I only want to see her in the kitchen cooking. I can tell that he is slipping on his anger and I am going to be the one who pays for it but at this point I don’t care, I deserve it. But to my surprise Samantha jumps out in between us.

“Sir please do not be too hard on him. I did over react a little but we were just talking it out before you had arrived.” This causes mom and dad to look at her with smiles.

‘You think she’s a badass now just wait, she kicked Reece and I’s ass and then forced everyone including Mark and I to our knees when she was demanding respect.’ I mind-link the two of them.

“I can say this for sure you are strong if my glare cannot deter you. Now why don’t we all go inside and we shall talk more before we head to the school.” He says as they turn to go. After I tell her how much she means to me I take her hand and we head inside.

Rowen POV

                As we enter into the pack lands we decide to kill some time by heading to the lake we all used to go to. Mark and I were extremely close when we were younger. Our fathers and grandfathers have always been friends and I suspect that is because of the royal bloodline that split off hundreds of years ago. As we come up to the far end of the lake, Raina says she will wait in the car with one of the guards outside.

                We step out and walk the dock but, as we sit on the dock Aaron, who is the guard standing by the door, mind-links that there is a person who seems to be human sitting on the tracks. I tune my ears in to hear a young females voice.

“ it happened 2 years ago just after my 15th birthday. Mother and I were gardening in the backyard while father was away on business. I went in to the house to grad the new tulip bulbs mother had bought for me. You see ever since I was little mother always got me red and white tulips for my birthday. Red was for true love. She had said that the moon goddess always places us with our one true loves, and the white is to be calm and show worthiness and forgiveness.”

“She sounds as if this is a painful memory.” I say to Jamie as we sit there.

“Yes it does but there are not many humans who believe in the moon goddess.” She says with a hum

“ She used to say that a woman, for sure a princess since dad had always called me that, should show forgiveness to everyone and we should always stay calm and prove our worth at all means. She had once told me that the Goddess of the earth Gaia loved tulips very much, not that I really know that to be a fact though. Anyway on my way out of the house with them I see, well at least what I can remember, a black figure with green eyes like mine running with my mother knocked out over his shoulder. But when I go to tell father about it I can never remember what the thing looked like or for that matter if he is even human. I have tried many times to dream of it but it is always black with green eyes. They haunt me in my sleep most nights. Well that was until Asher came around. When he told me what had happened to his brother I had hoped he would understand. I had hoped that once I accepted him and explained myself he would love me for me and let me be myself. Not try and force me to act as a porcelain doll or a jewel to keep hidden from the world.” The young girl finishes with a low sob.

“Did she just say Asher?” Jamie looks as shocked as I am. Could there be another person named Asher in this town or is this person Asher’s mate?

“You know I kind of want to meet this girl now.” Jamie says with a smile.

“So do I but so help me if he really did this he is going to have one hell of a deep lecture coming from me.” At this point I am really hoping she is not talking about my Asher but as the girl comes through the clearing and around the bend I smell his sent on her and my heart drops.

‘So help me I am going to kick his ass as soon as I see him’ Jamie says to me in mind link.

‘I know we did not raise him to treat his mate like this, we will have to put him in his place later.’ I tell her through the link just as the little one comes and sits down. She is so graceful as she asks to sit down with us and I notice her green eyes and black hair. She looks as if she has the royal gene in her.

“You look very troubled my dear. That is not a look for someone with green eye’s” Jamie says and I notice her staring at us.

‘I wonder if she is seeing Asher in you’ Jamie links me.

“My mother used to say the same thing when I was younger. She said that her little princess needed to smile and never let anyone see her break because it would be a sign of weakness. Well at least she used to.” Looking down at her feet.

“So you’re a princess are you?” I ask knowing the answer but wanted to see what she says.

“No I am not.” She laughs causing me to smile.

“My father and mother always call me that though. I personally do not feel as if I am worth all that much in this world….”

She looks so sad that it is heart breaking even for me. This is my future daughter-in-law, she should be smiling and laughing not wanting to cry.

“Do you believe in things that most in this world would consider fictional?” she asks.

“Why yes I do.” I tell her with a smile.

“Well you see, my mother had told me that I am extremely special and that I had a goddess watching over me, always. I used to believe her until she disappeared and my life became hell. My family still loves me and treats me like I am everything however, most people in this town see me as someone who should go die in a hole somewhere. You see my mother was a VERY big figure in this community and a lot of people looked up to her. Not just this town either, there are about 25 plus towns that my mother used to help out in and a LOT of people knew her.”

‘Could her mother be a Luna?’ Jamie asks me.

‘It very well could be, Asher never said what family his mate came from’ I link her back.  

“‘She’s an angel’ is what my dad calls her. He always tells me that there is someone like that out there for me, but I started to doubt it until 2-weeks ago when I did find that someone. But as fate would have it he cannot seem to see the fact that I don’t want to be simply ‘protected’ by him. I want to stand on even ground with him and have his back when he needs it. Whereas he wants me to be at home in the kitchen with a plate in my hand so to speak. And that’s just not me…..” She finishes while holding her head in a fetal position.  

“I can tell you are a strong person hun, I can see it in your eyes. By chance what is the name of the goddess your mother was talking about?” Jamie asks.

“Selene, the goddess of the moon. My mother always told me that even though I was the product of her being raped that the goddess Eileithyia had blessed her with me and that Eileithyia has asked Selene to bless me with someone to love or as she would put it, a mate.” She begins to cry and I can see panic setting into her face.

“Well thanks for letting me vent but I should be going.” she say trying to leave in a hurry.

“Before you go, I want to let you know that you should never feel belittled about yourself and that whoever this person is, they should learn to love you as you are and not who they think you should be.” Jamie gives he words of encouragement.

‘So help me Rowen, I am going to run that boy throw the ringing for making her feel that way’. Jamie say and I grimace inside. I know how mad she can get and I feel sorry for Asher later.

“By chance where did you get that necklace, it is truly beautiful.” I ask whit a smile. I loved seeing that necklace on Jamie but I can tell it belongs on her.

‘Oh they are going to make beautiful babies.’ Jamie says and I roll my eyes. Leave it to her for that to be the first thing she thinks off.

“It is from the one I was talking about. I just hope he can love me for who I am because I love him with my whole heart.” I can tell by the look on her face that she really does love him. As she walks past the car I can see how tense Aaron is. With him being Raina’s mate I can understand his caution. But as she begins to talk to him I can feel the power radiating off of her.

“Do not worry I will not hurt them and believe me when I say I could easily take you down in no time at all.” She tells him and I see him shrink ever so slightly.

“I have never seen a human with so much strength before and it is as if she has no fear” Jamie whispers with wide eyes as the young girl runs off into the woods.

We load back into the car and head out to the estate. As we are pulling in I see a nice-looking Chevy Impala in front of us. As we slow down I see Asher pull out the young girl from earlier and hug her tightly. We pull up and I see her eyes widen in shock. I begin to chew Asher out in our mind-link for making her feel the way she does.

‘So help me goddess Asher I know I raised you to treat your mate better than you have. I cannot believe you made her feel as if she belongs in the kitchen and not by your side.’ I yell at him

‘Wait how do you know all this?’

‘We ran into each other at the lake and she told us the past about her mother.’ I tell him everything she had said out loud and how she was feeling. Then his mother started in and I heard Xander whimper at Jamie’s voice.

‘Make up with her she will be an extremely good mate and Luna Queen.

SURPRISE POV

                Reece POV

                My name is Reece Mathews. I am 17 and the next royal beta. My life has not been the easiest at all. My mother passed away when I was 5 from being poisoned by wolfsbane and my father was killed in a rogue attack trying to protect a child. My oldest brother who was 18 at the time at took my fathers place as Royal beta. When Raina turned 15 and shifted for the first time we learned that they were mates. Me on the other hand, I have been with Asher on being without a mate and I was wondering if we both were going to be like that. Until I saw him for the first time at the school. I had never told anyone in my life that I was Bi s****l, and for once in my life I was scared to admit it. I never hide it but I never had anyone ask. I left the school that day and took off running not caring where I was going.

‘why are you acting like a p***y’ Thomas my wolf says.

‘your one to talk and I am not a cat we are a dam wolf’ I snap back at him.

We spent all night running and I spent time with the other worriers until I caught the smell of strawberries and cream. I take off running before I see him but I can tell he is following me. I see a brown wolf jump in front of me and I try to stop in time but skid right into him. We go end over end down the hill and I can feel sparks across my skin. We shift back and he is laying pinned under me. My body went rock hard seeing my mate laying there naked and covered in dirt. We lock eyes for a few minutes before I jump off of him and apologize for what had happened.

“You do not need to be sorry for your body reacting the way it does. We are mates after all.” He tells me with a chuckle that gives me butterflies.

“Yea but still it must bug you with me being a male.” I say turning around blushing at the sight of his taught body.

“Honestly I was but it is okay. I am Bi s****l but I have never came out about it. My whole family had thought I was straight because I had the biggest crush on Sam before I found out we both have mates.” He says with a shrug. At the statement about liking Sam it causes me to growl at him.

“Whatever just get it over with. It’s a shame for an alphas son to be gay in most people’s views so reject me and leave me the hell alone.” I yell furiously and I shift back into my wolf form and dart off. He doesn’t follow and truth be told I don’t want him to. I run into my room and throw myself onto the bed and cry myself to sleep. Yes I know, so not a manly thing to do, but dammit the thought of living without a mate kills me. I wish those words never left my mouth and Thomas won’t even talk to me now.

The next morning I planned to sleep in really late because Asher says that we are not doing training today. However I hear a knock on my door at a quarter after 7 and I stumble out of bed to see who it is.

I open the door to see a wide-eyed Drake staring at be and his jaw drops at the sight of me in my boxers. I hear a low growl  escape his lips as he gently pushes me back into my room. He shuts the door behind us as I stumble onto my bed. I am staring at Drake in shock as he walks over towards me placing a knee between my legs and grabbing my hands.

“I have my answer for you Reece, would you like to know what it is?” he asks in a low seductive voice.

“Oh? And what might that be.” I asked with a raised eyebrow.
