WHO ARE YOU?

1220 Words
‘You killed them. You are nothing but a monster.’ I screeched with tears gushing down my cheeks even more. “Why? Why did you kill them?!” ‘I hear that a lot, peach,’ He chuckled. “I’m truly nothing but a monster.” “Why did you do this to them? How could you kill them? They were my parents. They were your parents. Our parents.” “You…you will never understand why they have to die, Aurora. And they were never my parents.” He took a few steps towards me. I began crawling back as he stepped closer to me. ‘Why, Liam? Do…do you want to kill me too?’ I stuttered, with so much fear overtaking my body. “Please don’t. I beg of you.” I wished this was nothing more than a nightmare. I wanted to wake up as soon as possible to see my mate sitting beside me with a book in his hand and a huge smile on his face, urging me to wake the hell up and face a beautiful morning. “I didn’t know you would recognize me so soon with just a glance. I thought after three years, you would have forgotten about me, Aurora.” “No, Liam.” My eyes welled up as I stared at his face. “Remember, you once said these words to me three years ago, Aurora? ‘You said I would never leave you’ and my response was…’ he raised his brows, demanding a response from me. Although he was handsomely hideous up close, I was trying everything possible to not provoke him. “You said there is no banquet in this world that doesn’t end. But you would always come back for me. You said you will never leave me and that I should trust in you and believe in you.” “And what did I do, Aurora?” “You…you came back.” I softly whispered and glanced up at his grace. His soaked body in blood and the memories of these people’s bodies torn apart filled me with bitterness and rage, overwhelming my shaking hands. “Why…why did you kill THEM?” I screamed at the top of my lungs with tears running down my cheeks. “They did nothing to you. They didn’t deserve death. But why, Liam?” “I love you, Aurora.” With a wave of his hand, his eyes turned red. I flew up in the air and my body shifted backwards and hit hard against the wall. My mouth and my nose coughed out blood when I heard the cracked sound at the back of my bones. Falling to the ground, someone grabbed me from behind and closed my eyes. ‘You don’t have to see this, Princess Aurora.' “Se…Sebastián.” I recognized his voice. “Do not look anymore because if you do, it will torment you for the rest of your life. So, please let me take you out of here.” “No!” I disagreed with him. “Let me go. Liam killed them. I need to speak with him. He finally came back and…” ‘Do you want to fight me too, Sebastian?’ Liam questioned. “You wouldn’t live to see the next morning if you duel with me.” ‘GUARDS.’ Sebastian yelled and at that minute, I felt the doors opening and the sounds of thousands of footsteps marching into the chambers. Sebastian carried me and hung me over his shoulder and ran out of the chambers. ‘Let me go, Sebastian. I can’t leave him there. Let me go.’ I screamed. “I need to speak with him, Sebastian.” “He’s not in his right senses. If I leave you there, he might end up killing you, which is what I can not risk, princess Aurora.” He ran even faster and jumped out of the window and landed on his claws. We both entered a secret path and Sebastian used his left finger and pointed at the door. “We need to go through there, Princess Aurora.” Overwhelmed by my emotions and the overbearing thought that Liam killed everyone fogged up my brain. The darkness and the stench of blood made me faint in Sebastian’s arms. I slowly woke up, only to see Sebastian putting a little white towel on my forehead. I sat up quickly, recalling what had just happened with a loud cry. “You need to calm down, Princess Aurora. We are safe.” He calmly uttered. “What happened? Why am I here, Sebastian? Where is Liam? Where did he go? Please, let me know what had happened to everyone in the clan…” I paused and tossed aside the blanket on my waist off me and got up from the bed, walking to the door. “The clan has burned down, including the people who have died. Liam has wiped everyone out and burned their bodies.” His words stopped me in my tracks and all I could feel at that moment was sorrow. I slumped down on the floor with my hair covering my face. “You can’t be serious, Sebastian.” I couldn’t believe my eyes. It all looked like a dream to me. “Liam will never do that. He has no reason to kill our parents and…” I couldn’t finish my words as tears dropped from my face onto the unkempt ground in an isolated house in the forest. “I’m sorry, but we have to leave as soon as possible. Liam has sent his guards to search all over the clan and the realms for you.” “What!” “Yes, and if you get caught by the prince, I don’t know how I will protect you, princess Aurora. So please, let’s leave as soon as possible—” Sebastian stopped talking and painfully spilled out blood from his mouth in front of me with both hands clenching his neck. I leaned closer to him in a daze, trying to get myself out of this ridiculous dream I thought I was still in, instead of facing reality. “Sebastian.” I whispered, and he vomited, a large black snake slipping out of his mouth. I screamed at the top of my lungs and Sebastian pointed at me with the tip of his finger and collapsed. Unknowingly to me that someone was behind me. I felt a loud bang on my head as I fell to the floor, with darkness descending over me. I didn’t know what happened to me after, but when I woke up, I was at a certain orphanage. Someone had sold me for a good price to be at the orphanage. 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐎𝐫 𝐬𝐨 𝐈 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭. 𝐈’𝐯𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬, 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞.
