To the Moon and Back

Chapter 22

                                                                        *Jason’s  POV*

         I was sitting eating lunch while getting to know the kids.  Marie and John had asked me a s**t ton of questions. Everything from my feelings and intentions for their mom to my favorite color and animal.  I casually probed about their feelings towards wolves and to my delighted surprise they both seemed to love wolves. This had max wagging his tail and blabbing about letting them ride him. I had my attention split between my conversation with my pups and My mates conversation with Alice.  Maxwell was growling at the back of my head at the thought of our mate and pup leaving in a few short hours, I kept reminding him that we would be seeing her again shortly.  If he had his way they’d  be moving into the Pack house tonight, but he’s gonna have to suck it up Be patient and help me sweep her off her feet! My eyes kept finding themselves looking for her, I didn’t mean it, I just couldn’t help but to look at her. “We should be doing more than just looking” Max growls at me “can you take a damn nap we are supposed to be getting to know the kids” “When can I meet them for real J?”  “Max that won’t be till after Sammy Meets you!”  it seems the thought of Sammy meeting him had given him something to think about because he laid down and let me concentrate.  Marie is a wonderfully observant little one, she had caught me gazing at Sammy several times. After the third or fourth time she caught me she says,  “You must really like my mommy… You do don’t you?” “Yes Princess I Do I really do!” I answer her whole heartedly.  “Are you just being nice to us to get mommy to like you?” John questions me.  Max starts growling in my head at the thought. “Some human pr ick used them J! what kind of scum does that to a pup!”  I ignore his pacing and grumbling so I can quickly make eye contact with John. I want him to know I’m speaking the truth I want him to know he is safe with me, to feel protected and free to express himself.  “John, Bud, I would NEVER use anyone like that especially not an innocent child!” the kids shared an apprehensive look,  and the atmosphere was tense, so I continued, now speaking to both of them.  “ I’m not mad you asked I’m glad you did! I want you BOTH to feel comfortable talking about anything with me! I don’t have any plans of leaving ! Your momma is Very special to me already! And you two are as well, I'd be honored to be apart of your family!”   ”  As I finished speaking both kids faces lifted into Bright smiles.  Seeing the kids happy again and comfortable with us had max wagging his tail and purring! The kids start eating their lunch again while I focus my hearing on my mate and my beta`s conversation.  “GIRLS NIGHT WHAT THE HELL IS SHE DOING TRYING TO TAKE OUR LUNA OUT BEFORE WE CAN!?!” Max growls now threatening to take control,  “Chill max we can’t scare the pups” I remind him.  I tried to ignore his grumblings and threats of violence against Alice and Xena. I was doing my best to give the kids all my attention. When he growls “DID SHE JUST INVITE HER TO OUR FAMILY DATE”  “we will handle it but shut up for fu cks sake you’re giving me a headache Max!”  I had decided to focus back on the kids , that was until I heard WHY Sammy wanted Alice to come. I almost fell out of my seat, Max`s Howl almost came flying out my mouth. Maxwell was no longer growling about kicking Xena’s ass, now he was whining excitedly. He was also taking this as a good que to fill my head with graphic images of all the ways we could take our sweet little Sammy. All of the different places we could sneak off to.  I had gotten lost in thought while staring longingly at her, and she must have felt my gaze on her Because the next thing I know our eyes had locked onto each other’s.  I could see my same emotions being reflected back even form this distance. I don’t know how long we were locked in each other’s gaze but far too soon our trance was broken by Alice and the kids giggling.  I clear my throat and check my watch, seeing the time causes Max to howl Joyously. Its time for our first family outing.  “Are you guys done?” I ask the kids excitedly  both kids shake their heads eagerly while shoving the last bits of food in their mouths I chuckle before standing up and turning to them “Ok Let’s go get your mom!” Both kids Smile happily while gathering up their stuff. “Look at our pups they’re soooo good, they’re cleaning up after themselves and we didn’t even have to ask!” Max says Proudly , while we watch them pack up their lunch bags.  Once they had tossed their garbage into the nearby bin they both grabbed one of my hands and we skipped to Sammy. Yes I skipped, the big bad wolf was skipping, I’m positive Alice would bust my balls later, but I don’t care who seen me! We all stop a few feet from Sammy and Alice, in hopes that Sammy won’t see me skipping like a little girl. Ok so I do care what one person thinks.  Alice is grinning like the Cheshire cat, while Sammy looks like a little kid caught with her hand in the cookie Jar. They were very clearly just talking about me. Sammy doesn’t hold her guilty look for long, she is immediately greeting our Pups, Yes OUR PUPS as far as Max and I are concerned they are our kids.  She asked them how their lunch was, they both told her it was great.  “So, are you guys ready for the VIP tour?” I almost yell, I can barely contain my excitement. If I was in wolf form id be hopping about and wagging my tail. Both kids nod excitedly while Sammy Blurts out “Alice is coming I’m so excited I can’t wait any more Let’s go!”  I can’t help but to bark out a laugh, Sammy is almost as excited as I am. Alice looks at me sheepishly while Sammy holds my gaze. “I see you two have hit it off! Ok she can come, Whatever makes you happy Kitten!”  I can’t help but admire her attitude she left no room for negotiations. A true Luna already, she didn’t ask if Alice could come she told me she was coming and ended the discussion before it even happened.
