I didn"t exactly go back into a fugue state, but I did stop paying attention to the world around me for a bit. Nilda and Kara"s voices were once more mere murmuring in the background. The sun was still hot, but now at an angle that didn"t beat down on the blistering skin of my neck. I worked extra hard to tune out the buzzing of the bees.
