Janine was muttering a series of curses under her breath as she stepped out of the police station. How could this happen to her? How dare they accuse her of jaywalking?
The Police Station is not Janine Kwon’s style. Meh.
“Tss. So much for the first day of work.” She heard Porter Kim mutter behind her. She glanced at him and glared.
Too much talk for someone who almost killed her, right?
He doesn’t have the right to talk like that! He almost killed Janine.
Janine looked away and shook her head as she walked on, leaving this reckless driver behind. She better not see his face ever again. Or all hell will break loose.
She walked fast to grab a cab and hurry to the office because she just remembered that today is the day that the new boss, new supervisor, would come to work.
She shut her eyes in utter annoyance. If the new boss reprimands her, there’s no one to blame but that Porter Kim, who led her to the police station early in the morning. No one else but him.
But she couldn’t reason out to the new boss, right? Not when her reason is because she was caught jaywalking and reported to the police station. So not good for an outstanding employee-s***h-team manager’s reputation, right?
Janine Kwon was the workaholic one. She’s just been 2 years in the company and she’s already promoted to the manager position. Who gets promoted that easily especially when there are a lot of senior workers with you in the office?
Only the legendary Janine Kwon.
Since she applied in the company for her internship in her last year in college, she has been one of the best workers in here. She works diligently. And she surely puts her heart to everything she does. What can we say? Janine Kwon loves her job.
“You’re late, Team Manager!” Jonas beamed at her as she entered the office.
Janine smiled at him and walked straight to her desk beside Yasmin, the assistant manager.
“You’re an hour late, Janine. Where have you been?” Yasmin asked as she eyed Janine who’s about to sit. Yasmin is one of Janine’s closest persons. Maybe because she’s seated beside Janine that she became close to her.
Janine sighed as she sat and shut her eyes, trying to calm herself still. What would Yasmin tell her when she tells her that she was caught jaywalking and even dragged to the police station because of that offense?
Meh. She’s not going to tell. Not now with all the employees quietly doing their jobs.
“I slept in.” Janine lied.
Yasmin chuckled. “You better cut talking to him till late night, Jan.” She teased. She knew about Janine and Johann because she was one of the employees when Janine was still an intern and she saw how Johann babied Janine. He always dropped her by in the morning and picked her up when her shift’s done.
What a lovely couple, right?
Yes. They were. Too bad, Johann has to go abroad to study. He didn’t want to but Janine told him to push through because it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Janine smiled and just shook her head. Then she leaned closer to Yasmin. “Oh, by the way, did the supervisor come by? What’s Mr. Song’s replacement like?” She asked.
Mr. Song is the previous Supervisor but he retired due to old age. He was the best of all the supervisors that worked here. He was awarded as one of the most outstanding employees of all time. He really was. He cared for the employees the most. Really. He was the best. Simply the best.
Yasmin shook her head as she looked at Janine. “No. I bet the new supervisor is talking to the head of the company. You know, for briefing.” She replied.
Janine nodded and sighed in relief. At least the supervisor didn’t arrive first that her. Or else, she’s dead. Really dead.
“You know, I heard people saying that the new supervisor is actually our age.” Yasmin whispered.
Janine looked at her with wide eyes. “What?” She hissed back.
Yasmin nodded. “He was accelerated three times and took his Master’s Degree right after college and worked on different popular companies.” She told her. “And that’s not all,” she beamed with sparkles in her eyes. “They said he’s the epitome of all visuals. Perfect face. Perfect Bachelor. Perfect boyfriend material.” She finished with a dreamy intonation.
Janine looked at Yasmin in disgust. How could this girl speak like this? She hadn’t even seen the new boss! She looks like a fangirl who is about to meet her idol. Really childish.
Janine just shook her head at her assistant’s remarks.
What perfect boyfriend material?
Janine’s already got that. She already has Johann Kim’s heart. No need to look for another.
Yasmin rolled her eyes at Janine. “That’s because your eyes are all on Johann Kim.” She beamed and stuck her tongue out.
Janine just chuckled and shook her head. Well, what can she do? Her loyalty is on Johann Kim alone. Alone. I mean it.
The door suddenly opened showing Mr. Lee, the CEO of the company, his secretary and what?!
Janine narrowed her eyes at the door as the dashing males went inside. What the hell is he doing here? How the hell did he come here?
Mr. Lee coughed and took all the attention of the employees in the room. “Everyone,” he called.
All the employees looked at him, eyeing this perfect eye candy. Well, sorry, everyone. Mr. Lee is already married with Kim Hana. It was such a tragic and dramatic story so, their love for each other is the strongest to date.
“I’m here to personally introduce your new department supervisor.” Mr. Lee smiled and that made all the female employees melt in delight. Please.
Then Mr. Lee gestured another eye candy to move forward. “This is your new supervisor. Mr. Porter Kim.” He said and there were muffled squeals around the room from all the females in the room.
Porter moved forward and bowed at everyone. “Hello, everyone! I hope to have a good and collaborative team with you.” He smiled and the females literally died.
Never has everyone seen a face like Porter’s. Not even the idols and actors and models on the television. Porter’s way way way more handsome than those.
Janine scoffed as she heard what L said. “How could he be the new supervisor?” She muttered and Yasmin looked at her. “You know him?” She asked curiously.
Janine rolled her eyes and shook her head. “No.” She denied then sighed.
And everyone looked at her.
Even the executives.
“Oh, Ms. Kwon.” Mr. Lee smiled and walked to Janine. Porter and the secretary followed.
Porter raised his brow at Janine and Janine balled her fist. If Mr. Lee isn’t around, her fist would have landed on Porter’s precious face.
“Mr. Kim, this Ms. Kwon,” Mr. Lee introduced Janine to Porter.
L smirked at her before bowing and smiling – fake, I might add.
Janine sighed hard to keep her cool. Oh please, what is happening to the world? She wished so hard to never see this face again.
“He’ll be your new supervisor, from now on.” Mr. Lee beamed.
From now on?
Janine almost wanted to scream when she heard his words. She rolled her eyes inwardly and swallowed before saying, “Nice meeting you.”
Porter narrowed his eyes on her and she glared at him. He chuckled. “I don’t like to hear ‘nice meeting you’, Ms. Kwon.” He spoke.
Janine narrowed her eyes on him. “What?” She asked in disbelief. This new supervisor should be even grateful he earned that sentence from her! Hah!
“I prefer ‘Nice to meet you’.” Porter added. “Nice meeting you somewhat pertains to a person you will never see again.”
Janine almost scoffed at his logic. So what’s he trying to say? Psh. He was lucky enough to hear a decent sentence from her. Heh.
Porter smiled at her then at Yasmin who seemed star struck on the sides. Well, all of the females are looking at Porter dreamily. Like he is the prettiest man on earth.
Mr. Lee smiled. “Okay. So I’ll leave you now, Mr. Kim.” He told him.
Porter smiled and nodded. “Thank you, Sir.” He beamed.
Mr. Lee nodded then looked at Janine. “You should guide him with the works, Ms. Kwon, since he’s new to this job.” He ordered her.
Janine nodded as she faked a smile. Please, if she’s not that close to Hana Kim, Mr. Lee’s wife, she would’ve said no. Heck, why would she be the guide? She thought this new supervisor was a genius? Why does he need supervision? Duh. He is the supervisor. Please.
Janine is stressed out by mere thinking of how she could guide him.
“Hello, Sir. I’m Yasmin, the assistant manager.” Yasmin beamed at Porter shyly as Mr. Lee and his secretary left the room.
Janine looked at her in disbelief. How could she be this flirty with this jerk of a boss?
Porter smiled at her. “Hey, Yasmin.” He replied. “Nice to meet you.” He added as he reached his hand for a shake.
Yasmin’s eyes widened as she saw Porter lay his hand for her to shake. She was trembling when she reached out for his hand.
Janine scoffed at Yasmin. How could she act so girly and nervous like this? Meh.
Porter flashed his killer smile at Yasmin and she nearly died of palpitations. Please, L and his effect on women.
Porter then looked at Janine with a raised brow. “Hey, Janine Kwon,” he called her.
Janine looked up and narrowed her eyes on him. “What?” She snapped.
Everyone looked at her thinking how she dared to talk back to the new boss? How could Janine defy the new boss’ handsome features?
Yasmin even nudged her to remind her that she’s talking to a boss, but she didn’t even budge. Why would she? This man almost killed her! She has all the right to get angry at him.
Porter smirked as he heard her reply. “Get me a coffee.” He ordered.
Janine gaped at him with creased eyebrows. “Excuse me?” She asked in disbelief.
Porter smirked as he placed his hands inside his pockets and c****d his head to the side. “I’m new here. I don’t know where the coffee vending machine is, so you help me get my coffee.” He reiterated.
Janine scoffed. “It’s on the hallway. Walk straight then turn left on the first curb. There. Go get your own coffee.” She instructed him.
Everyone gasped at Janine’s remark. This is actually the first time they had seen Janine talk back to somebody. She doesn’t even shout when she’s mad. But now she’s talking back to an up-line.
Porter chuckled weakly before raising his brow on Janine. This time, he crossed his arms across his chest. “The CEO said you should guide me.” He chirped.
Janine smiled irritatingly then she stood up to meet Porter’s eyes. “Mr. Lee told me to guide you, not be your slave.” She sneered. “Now, Mr. Kim,” she said slowly. “If you don’t know left and right, I’ll tell you slowly. Walk straight then turn left on the first curb.”
Porter scoffed. “You better get me a coffee before my hand runs to my pocket, taking out my phone and calling Mr. Lee to tell him to suspend you, right here, right now.” He threatened.
Everyone in the room gasped. Even Janine. How could this boss be this despicable?! Mr. Song was way way way kinder than this one.
Porter stared at Janine. “One…two…” he counted but Janine is not moving. “When this reaches ‘three’, I’m calling Mr. Lee.” He threatened.
“Thr—”
“FINE!” Janine beamed then she walked to that darned coffee vending machine muttering a string of curses under her breath.
