Chapter Twenty One
A werewolf’s most precious.

Fate Pierce’s Point of View
“I heard that you all like cookies?”
My body was already prepared for the worse as I heard that from my grandmother. She did not even try to hide anything that she was doing as she basically pulled everyone out of the living room, except for the King himself. Since I am basically pretending to be having injuries, I couldn’t have come with them to bake some cookies.
All because I am not allowed to.
“That’s right,” Granpapi muttered, failing to act so nonchalantly. “She needed to drink some medicine and apply some ointment. Mr Hawthrone, could you do it for us?”
Clayton showed a small smile, but it wasn’t mischievous at all. “Of course,” he said.
With that given in the way, he had walked towards me and offered his hand. Looking to his hand, I fight the urge to tell them that I am not injured in hopes that I won’t have to touch him. Since I was not sure how the sparks are powerful, I do not know how to mince my reactions. I did not want him to know that I am reacting to the link.
Since he is finally aware that my grandparents are werewolves, it would not be hard to distinguish that I am not human too. Not only that, but I honestly think that my grandparents must have slipped something that they shouldn't and I really worry about what will happen with my next actions if I did not calculate it right.
“Fate?” He called, making me catch his eyes. The beauty in his eyes was captivating, and the additional smile that he had offered with that dimple in his cheeks is a massive dent in my need to suppress my emotions. “I’m helping you to have your medications for now,” he says, now eyes glinting in mischief. “I am your friend, after all.”
The Alpha King wanted to touch me. Having him to react in such a way makes me really question if my grandparents really did tell him something. They knew that I couldn't bear to lose myself. However, the longer that I glance at his eyes, the more that I grew transfixed.
"I am losing the strength in my hand." He frowned, teasing me slightly. "Your friend is hurt, Fate."
My eyes wanted to roll heavenwards to how he was trying to push into being called as my friend. He really does like teasing people to this much. Even still, I can't act like he is talking to someone who is deaf. I just needed to mince my reaction.
No hardships.
...right?
I nodded, offering a small smile. “Thank you.”
The second that my hand had touched his, I sucked in a breath from the sensation that surged through my body. He seemed to have liked that reaction, but I had easily minced it by touching my cast. The happiness printed in his beautiful eyes had deteriorated as I acted that my responses were sole because of the pain, and not with the f*****g sparks.
This f*****g spark is intense!
From the way that I heard from my mother that it was really something else, I did not know that it felt like your whole body is growing through one feeling at the same time. It felt good, like something warm is going through your whole body. The feeling is extremely tantalizing and we only touched for a second.
I will clearly die from the second that I accepted his help.
“Are you okay?” He asked, kneeling to see the spot that I was holding. He frowned. “Do you really need this cast on your leg? Maybe you can pull it off so I can make sure that everything is fine.” He did not even let me say anything as he pulled his phone. Clayton looked genuinely worried, his eyes were going all around as his hands were nothing but gentle in my legs. A small sighed escaped his lips like he was defeated with the task that he is not familiar with.
“I think you need my doctor.” He had said after a long pause.
My eyes grew, shaking my head as I grabbed his phone. “No. That’s not necessary. We have already gone into one.”
And by we, I had meant that I did.
And when I said go into a doctor, I mean that I had spent more time escaping from him.
These are all nothing but a little help of someone from my pack who knows medicine and tricking everyone about the so-called “injury”. Cruel, I know. However, my mind was clearly desperate to have something that will have me aware that I wouldn't be able to fall for his charms.
But he ended up coming here, anyway.
I feel like everything is falling from my plan.
I know it’s low but I was distraught.
A werewolf’s pull is dangerously strong.
“As long are you’re sure.” He said, sighing as his hand snaked into my waist. Before I was even aware of what is happening, Clayton was carrying me in his arms with not a single struggle printed in his face. Instead of struggling, he looked at me with a frown. “You’re surprisingly lighter than what I had thought. Have you been missing some meals?”
“Oh..”
Even if my mind could not think straight with him holding me like this. My body is doing its best not to react by the way that my body felt like they were in a fire with his hold and the sparks surrounding us. He seemed normal though like this is least affecting him.
Are these effects solely on foxes?
Damn.
I think my face managed to look nothing but nonchalant. I was apprehensive that he would realize that something is going on, but I think I am doing something fine.
“What did you talk with my grandparents about?” I asked, frowning at him as the thought starts to corrupt my mind. “I hope this isn’t because I had said no to you. Somi had told me that you have some influence on here.” My mouth added information, mincing my innocence about him. “I don’t want them to lose their home because of my decision.”
Clayton offered a small smile, but I could see some offense that he did take from my words. Maybe I did not mince it in the right way. I was basically saying that he was threatening my grandparents about his rejection when he came here to make sure that I am fine.
"I'm sorry," I muttered. "I was just-"
"No." He said, shaking his head. “I know where you are coming from. The students in the school talk, I understand that one. You don’t have to worry, I only asked them to let you stay at my home to refrain from this cast to happen, and since I intend to marry you.”
I easily coughed to his words, surprised with his words. He does know that I am a human, what is he doing!? f**k. I hope my cheeks are not f*****g flushed. Who the hell says those kinds of things?
My lips formed a small frown. “I told you that I have a boyfriend, Clayton.”
“I’m just messing with you. Give me some slack here, your words hurt.” He chuckled, but the tone in his voice had a small c***k. “Surprisingly, they were… an associate and I just wanted to make some things clear. Despite my influence, I won’t kick you off from your home.”
Then why did my grandparents seemed guilty?
I know that they had done something, but he does seem really distraught about my so called boyfriend. What could have my grandparents said that had made them to react in such a way to me?
“Here we are,” Clayton said, placing me down on the chair as he looked at me. The man did not hesitate to make me see the desperation in his face. I could see every crevice of his sadness and his need to hold me. Despite that, he offered a small smile. “What do I need to do to tend you, Princess?”
“I’m not a Princess…” I trailed, before pointing to the tray. “They are there, along with the list of what I needed to take.”
“Oh right.” He nodded, patting me in the head.
As he walked into the tray of medicine, I feel nothing but conflicted. Looking at him glimpse through the paper with the record of the medication, he would wrinkle his forehead before checking if he had the right one. Naturally, he was in his vulnerable state but why does my mind start to fall from what I wanted to do?
No.
Don’t show me your kind smiles and those wicked care! I needed to see the evil side of you. The one that had been on the throne and has everyone on his command. While he was doing a good thing for me, I tried to remember all the evil that he had done for my kind.
My heart clenched in every thought.
But I needed that.
I can’t fall for the link.
I have to fight for my fox. She can't be a used weapon for the palace, and my child could never suffer from another death and episodes of nothing but homicide all because of the power that the palace has. I could never be that person who would let anything of that happen.
I'm sorry, Clayton.
Seems like we needed to reject each other.
...or maybe, I have to.
