SUSPECT V : ANITA ELIA "Did you see it?" "Of course wtf Ruby and Ron are so sick." "I knew it Ron killed Kayla so he could be with Ruby." "But they broke up like a year ago." "Hey does anyone know who leaked the video." The next day of school was utter chaos with half the students calling for Ron and Ruby's blood, it was all anyone could talk about and the video by now had well over a thousand different copies. Despite Ruby constantly bombarding my phone's inbox with apologies and sob stories about how it would hurt her reputation I still went through with it. I really didn't want the heat coming with it so I used an anonymous f*******: account to send out the video. It was an instant trend among the Piony teens and soon Ron was also breathing down on my neck. Kay's dumb bf: You double crossed me I saw his message and felt a tiny ounce of guilt but getting the video out there was the best way to get people talking and also was sweet revenge on Ruby. Besides I was loyal to Kayla and he screwed her over, i was still shocked that she didnt break up with him maybe there was more to the story than i knew. Me: Well you shouldn't have sent the video to me Kay's dumb bf: I trusted you, I knew she didnt tell you anything but I do and you f**k me over Me: it's what you deserve for playing her she was best friend if she cant stand up against you then I will Kay's dumb bf: Naive i***t if you truly were her friend why didnt she come to you, you act like you know her but you're just as clueless as anyone else His words hit me right in the gut, she didnt tell me anything about what happened. When I asked her about the party she said it was awesome and I missed the fun she was lying of course. But why? I didnt reply back and left it at that, there was no need and ever since I kept thinking about Kayla and whether she was hiding secrets from me a part of her life that I knew nothing about. It was impossible she knew everything about me and I never hesitated to speak truthfully when we were alone. Did she not see our friendship in the same light as I did. "Kim Kim we tried calling last night why didnt you pick up?" Anita called out the moment I got out of my car at school, I guess she waiting for me eagerly, Paula was with her as well and from the looks on their face they were obviously going to start a fight with Ruby or get revenge of some kind. She and Paula did call but I was too out of it to talk with anyone after my conversation with Ron, besides I already knew they what they were going to say. "Did you see Kayla's video?" Paula asked immediately. "Yeah I did." "And?" They both waited for me to freak out like it was the worst thing ever but I had two days to cool down. I tried to look devastated and angered by it. "It was horrible Ron is such a douchebag and Ruby is a slut." "You dont seem shaken by it," Paula mentioned watching me keenly. Damn my acting skills were pathetic, I should have tried to put on a more convincing display given that Paula was the school theatre's leading actress. Luckily Anita was convinced enough, "Of course she's shaken this is her best friend we're talking about." "We're all mad but we have to stay calm and this is totally the end for Ruby her social life and popularity are ruined, she's basically a pariah," Anita said while laughing cynically like a villain, "and Ron know is a main suspect in her disappearance I know he did something to her I dont want to think about the worst but the cops are going to nail him soon." It was pretty mature standing from Anita and I didnt expect it, If i was to guess on her response she would have carried a knife and threatened to stab Ruby. "Yeah you're right  I got a load of others asking us what we should do about Ruby and Ron , I guess what you said is just answer," Paula stated.  Inside the school hallway all eyes were on us as we walked through. Paula was right about the students looking at us for guidance, after all we were her friends and it's only right that we deliver the justice deserved on her behalf. Tina and Jayme, the cheerleaders, came up and hugged me emotionally which was out of ordinary and said Ruby was kicked out of the squad by the team which was big given that she was the captain. Jordan also showed up, the friction between him and Anita still showing, as he told us Ron was also off all the varsity teams he was in. He tried to spin it as a victory to impress Anita but she wasnt swayed and left with a sad expression. "You are giving him a tough time," I told her. "Well I'm not in the mood right now he can wait a couple more days." "That's harsh cant you see his trying." "Whose side are you on," she said giving me her signature sneer and I backed off. Anita could be scary when she wanted to be, a survival tactic she developed when she first came to America when she was just thirteen. Her oldest brother, Kamaru, got a job working as an international liaison to The Bent company. Her father thought it was best if she studied abroad and she followed and joined the most prestigious Academy, Edgewood. The first few months in the middle school were hell, her accent was foreign and weird, she was shy, very quiet and couldnt really socialize. She got constantly picked on and harassed, Kayla and I would often stand up for her but we never became close enough to be friends back then. She soon adapted losing the accent and gaining her vicious attitude which made her push back at anyone who tried to mess with her. Her bottomless pockets helped in raising her social standing with her insane outrageous parties always being the standard. It was in high school when we drifted together somehow, I couldnt remember how but we grew closer forming our foursome. Maybe it was Kayla who brought, it was always Kayla who brought people together. Anita was the school cash cow and always saw herself on a pedestal above the rest. Maybe there was something about her that was well hidden, Kayla was proof that everyone had something to hide. "I just remembered Anita you were going to tell me something yesterday but we got cut off." Her face dropped a bit and I saw a hint of fear, "ooh that yeah it wasnt important just forget it." She definitely was hiding something.
