Dawn
I was alone in the room with Lucian. He was still out and I could feel Castellan trying to rest, but it was impossible for him.
"What is wrong with Castellan?" I asked Cicely as she was trying to communicate with him.
'He is trying so hard to heal, but he is exhausted, and the doctor was right. He is injured in an almost non-healing way' she replied, worried that Castellan could pass away. He was a leader, he was also mysterious, and I needed to find out more about him.
I approached Lucian, who was breathing erratically, trying desperately to get some air in his lungs. "What can I do to make him better?" I asked, but got no response from Cicely. Suddenly, I froze and got lost in a trance. Images from the past came to my mind.
"It can't be you" Castellan said as his guards were quickly thrown on the ground by Everard's shadow. They were killed instantly, not even a chance to defend themselves. Castellan tried to throw what it looked like a lightning bolt. Everard was able to dodge it, but it caught Rhett in the shoulder, causing him a massive pain.
Everard shot a fire blast, stronger than any I have ever seen. Castellan had fell on the ground, too tired to keep fighting and shifting back to Lucian. Everard walked over to Rhett and healed him, but pushed him towards Lucian when he heard the warriors approaching the clearing.
My heart was beating fast, and the pain in my chest was unbearable. I gasped for air, failing to get any in my lungs when suddenly, two big arms took me out of that trance.
"Dawn, wake up! What's wrong?" Wylard was standing in front of me, concerned. I was able to take a deep breath and threw myself in his arms, as I sobbed uncontrollably.
"There, there. Tell me what's wrong?" he rubbed my back, trying to calm me down. He did a good job, because in no time, I was breathing calmly.
"Thank you. It was horrible Wylard. I saw him being attacked"
"Attacked? Dawn, you saw what happened to him?" he asked, curiously. I nodded and tried to explain the whole thing, leaving him shocked.
"We need to tell mom and dad. Grandpa and grandma need to know too," he said, and fear took over me.
"We can't tell them yet. Not until I figure out what is this"
"Dawn, they need to know. How are they going to help you figure this out if you won't tell them?" I knew he was right, but I was still scared. I nodded, and he kissed my forehead before heading out.
"I will catch up with you. I just need to check on Lucian one last time" he was out of the room and I walked towards him. I sat on the edge of the bed, extending my hand to touch him. As soon as I did, an electric current passed through me, shocking me and leaving me in pain.
'You shouldn't have done that, Dawn. He has too much electricity accumulated, and he needs to discharge somehow' Cicely mentioned.
"Yes, I realized that," I replied, sitting on the bed once again, "I need to help him discharge, and I am probably the best option. I need you to help me here Cicely"
She agreed, but I needed to shift in order to do so. She had more resistance. She took over and stretched her wings as wide as she could and touched Lucian with them. He was discharging all his energy on us. Cicely almost gave up, but she held on.
"Aaahhhh" she screamed, and the pain was going through me too, making me scream silently as the bolt ran through our veins.
Mom and dad hurried inside and tried to stop the process, but as soon as they approached us, a wall of electricity went up, protecting Lucian and me.
"What is going on?" mom asked, panic taking over as she was being held by dad while trying to approach us again. The worst was already passing, and I was already at the end.
As soon as the wall went down, Cicely shifted back to me and I could see Lucian's eyes flutter open. He looked up at me with a frown on his face as I kept my face close to his.
"What happened?" he asked, as I was getting off him. My body was sore, but I was glad he was awake. The doctor walked in the room in a hurry to check on him. I was trembling. Feeling all the currents through my body was painful and uncomfortable.
'We did it. We were able to help him' Cicely said, but I was feeling nauseous. I ran to the bathroom and emptied my stomach. Mom walked in, kneeled next to me and rubbed my back gently.
"What were you thinking, Dawn? You could have killed yourself" she said, letting out a sob and taking me in an embrace.
"I am sorry, mom. But I needed to save him. I saw how he was attacked. It was heartbreaking for me. Everard did this"
She held me in her arms and rocked me the way she used to when I was a little girl. We were silent for a while until dad walked in.
"Lucian is calling you, Dawn"
Mom and I stood up from the floor and walked into the bedroom. He was sitting, and his eyes went straight to meet mine. He extended his hand, and I reached for it without hesitation. I could see his eyes glowing, and I knew Castellan was feeling better.
"Thank you for saving me. I am indebted to you," he said in a soft-spoken voice.
"No need. Your people need you back home safe" I replied.
"We sent some warriors to give the news to your village. They need to know what happened so they can also be safe and they will expect your arrival soon," dad mentioned. I looked at mom and noticed she was still feeling uneasy.
"Mom, I told you I am okay," I reassured her.
She just stayed silent and decided to leave. I looked at dad, as he nodded and walked out to check on her. I needed to go see Rhett. I need to know why this happened and he better have some answers for me.
