Nathan looked at Laurence in a daze. She was not beautiful in a classical way, no flowing golden curls or ivory skin, no piercing eyes of green. However, there was something about her that made her more beautiful than any catwalk model; in her ordinariness she was stunning. Something radiated from within that rendered her irresistible to Nathan. She had brown hair and brown eyes, a soft round face which was currently red from exertion, and soft plump lips. No wonder Cathy went after her, Laurence Jones was mesmerizing.
He felt a strange feeling of déjà vu wash over him when he stared into her eyes. It was as if he knew Laurence Jones but that was not possible, this was the first time he was meeting her.
Realizing he looked like an i***t staring at her, he quickly spoke up. “Sorry, my name is Nathan. I am Cathy’s brother. Are you going back home? I can drop you off if you like?” He asked questioningly.
Laraine kept silent. The last thing she wanted was to get into another Hill’s car. Especially a car that she had gotten into many times before. Nathan and she had many fond memories with his car. Them going on long drives, pigging out, and many more. But that was all a guise, she thought bitterly.
She never imagined she would meet Nathan again, right here, right now! She had imagined ways to take revenge on him but now that was he here in front of her, she was quiet. Revenge was imperative, but she would never take revenge at the cost of her life no matter how much she wanted to.
Remembering how brutally he had treated her last, Laraine clenched her fists, took a deep breath and glared at Nathan coldly, “Sorry! But I’m good!”
Nathan froze with a stiff smile on his face. He was not used to hearing ‘No’ from others, especially the opposite gender. Girls usually fell over him due to his naturally boyish good looks.
“Okay, then we can talk right here,” Nathan replied while leaning against his Mercedes. “I’m here to talk about what happened a couple days ago at the party. What you did to my sister.”
“What do you mean what I f*****g did to your sister?” Laraine bristled. She was sick of everyone blaming her for s**t she did not do!
“Having s*x in her car? Does that sound familiar?” Nathan taunted back.
“Are you f*****g kidding me!? I do not know what that b***h told you but nothing like that happened! In fact, it was her desperate ass who got me drunk and dragged me into her car. She is the one who came onto me!”
Nathan became stony-faced immediately and said, “Watch your f*****g tongue! You don’t know who you are talking to!”
“I know exactly who I am talking to! You are just like your sister! A piece of trash! Get your facts straight before you come onto others blaming them for s**t they did not do! I do not know what Cathy said, but if you keep blaming me then I will make this public and accuse her of s****l assault which she did to me! You should be thanking me that I have not done that already!”
With that Laraine turned to leave. She did not want to look at his face any longer. However, she was stopped when Nathan roughly grabbed her shoulders and turned her around. He manipulated her so she was now against his car and he was towering over her. His hands were digging into her skin. He was absolutely livid. She spared no effort to shake him off but she failed.
“I told you to watch your f*****g language, you b***h!”
Laraine gulped in fear. She was tired from the run and did not have the energy to fight a fully grown man off her. Further, Nathan was tall and strong. There was no way she was going to get him off her easily if he himself did not let her go.
“Let me go! Who the hell do you think you are!?”
“I’m going to show you who I am.” He growled before leaning in close to her. “I’m going to see what’s so special about you that even my sister could not resist you.”
Laraine whimpered and closed her eyes waiting for the inevitable. However, before she could feel Nathan’s lips on her, he was pulled back and she was free. She opened her eyes and gasped when she saw Andrew standing there over Nathan who was on the ground clutching his arm with a pained expression on his face.
Anger boiled deep within Andrew’s system, as hot as lava. It churned within, hungry for destruction, and he knew that he was about to explode. The pressure of this raging sea of anger inside him was going to force him to perform murder.
“What do you think you are doing?” Andrew’s voice was pure ice. There was no emotion in his voice, but his eyes showed his real emotion. They were pitch black and murderous. Laraine had never seen Andrew this angry before. His hands were clenched and tense as if ready to pounce at any second.
“Mr. Jones…I…nothing, I was just talking to Laurence.” Nathan’s voice was trembling.
Andrew glanced over at Laurence and noticed her pale face and shaking form. He did not fail to notice the red handprints on her wrists and shoulders.
Andrew bent down and grabbed Nathan’s collar. “It did not seem like just talking to me. You are lucky I am letting you go easily. If you come near her again, I will have you killed.” Andrew threatened in all seriousness.
Nathan had no doubt he was telling the truth, so he nodded. Andrew roughly released him, and he took no time in standing up and rushing to his car. His hands were shaking but he managed to get the keys into the ignition.
Laraine watched his car flying away. She wondered what Nathan would have done to her if Andrew had not shown up. She shuddered to think that he would have attacked her; he was capable of anything; she knew that better than anyone else.
“Are you alright?”
Hearing Andrew’s words, Laraine ran to him in a hurry and stood close to him. His protective body near her calmed her down.
“He did not touch you anywhere else, did he?”
Laraine shook her head no and trembled when she saw the red marks were now turning blue on her wrist and shoulders. Nathan had been holding her really tightly.
Andrew swore under his breath. He should have killed that asshole for touching Laurence!
“Do you know him?”
“Yes, he is Nathan, Cathy’s brother. He wanted to talk about what happened in the car, but he was blaming everything on me! Andrew, I swear Cathy got me drunk and led me to her car. I did not even do anything!” Laraine cried out desperately hoping he believed her.
Andrew lightly grabbed Laraine’s hands and said softly, “Hey it’s okay, I believe you. Calm down.”
“I want you to take guards next time!” Andrew told her.
Laraine nodded and looked back at the place where Nathan had parked. She noticed they were in a secluded place and no one would have seen anything if Nathan had tried to harm her. She thanked God Andrew had shown up when he did.
Laraine followed Andrew all the way back home. She was still thinking about the events that had happened just now, as if she was ruled by their shadows.
“Come to a business party with me tonight.” Andrew said lowly out of nowhere.
Laraine raised her head with astonishment in her eyes. Was Andrew asking her out?!
“Um…but…” Laraine started to talk but was cut off rather rudely, she humphed.
She knew Andrew seldom took anyone with him to his many business parties. But he was asking her of all people? His eighteen-year-old stepsister!
Andrew answered in an indisputable tone, “I’ll pick you up at seven.” Then he left her standing leaving her at a loss.
