Laraine was also very surprised since she had been expecting a worse reaction from Andrew. The fact that he let her go so easily was shocking considering his behavior towards others even if they made a small mistake. However, she decided to count her blessings and not ponder on it.
Still feeling drained from the events of today, Laraine walked back to her room and laid down on her bed hoping to have a nap to gain some of her energy. This was interrupted by a knock at her door.
“Laraine, come on out!” From the voice, Laraine knew that was Patrick.
But Laraine just ignored his shout; she put on her earphones and continued to lie on the bed and listen to her music. The door was locked from the inside. Since Patrick had rushed in her room last time, she had added a chain lock to the door. Now no one could open the door from the outside even with a key.
Sure enough, she saw the doorknob turning but Patrick could not open the door.
“I know you are in here Laurence. f*****g answer me!”
However, she turned the volume way up so that she could not hear Patrick’s blabber. She had noticed Patrick had an anger problem and so was much more annoying to deal with, even more so than Marge. She just continued to lie on her bed and closed her eyes, letting Patrick shout outside.
Finally, Patrick stopped shouting so Laraine took her headphones off and decided to answer him. She was curious to see what got his panties in a twist.
“What is it?” She shouted back.
“Open the door!”
“NO! I’m not feeling well today. And I’m in bed so I’m not getting up!”
Hearing this, Patrick sneered and ordered, “Open the door! I want to ask you something!”
Annoyed Laraine got up from her bed and decided to open the door a crack to see what he wanted. She knew he would not stop hounding her until she did what he asked.
“What do you want?” Laraine opened the door a crack and talked through it.
Patrick was standing outside; sure enough, he was angry.
“How f*****g dare you attack my girlfriend, you b***h!”
“Who attacked your girlfriend? Who the hell is your girlfriend in the first place?”
“Cathy! Don’t say you did not know that!”
“Cathy Hill!?” Laraine was surprised! She had no clue that Patrick was dating Cathy. But to be honest, she knew Cathy would try and get into the richest family in Harbour.
“Calm down, Patrick. I did not do anything with her! On the contrary, I think you two are well suited to each other so why would I do anything with her! You must have read the news, but that is totally a misunderstanding!”
“Misunderstanding? You two were literally on top of each other in the car, and you tell me that it is a misunderstanding? Are you kidding me?” Patrick was furious.
Seeing his reaction, Laraine thought that not opening the door was a wise decision. Or Patrick must have beaten her black and blue.
Seeing Laraine ignoring him, Patrick became even more furious and shouted louder, “Are you going to f*****g answer the question or not!”
“I told you to calm down. I am not feeling well and your constant shouting is giving me a headache! Andrew told me to shut my door and rest. If I were to tell him you did not let me rest and were shouting loudly at me…” Laraine continued on hoping that would scare Patrick into leaving her alone.
Hearing her words, Patrick immediately shut his mouth. Laraine took that chance and slammed the door on his face not in the mood to deal with him any longer.
“What must be that b***h going around telling others,” Laraine muttered to herself thinking about Cathy and her catty mouth.
Hill’s House
“Look at what you have done! You have ashamed the Hill family!” Baron was huffing as he yelled at his daughter.
“With a f*****g girl no less! Are you a f*****g lesbian!?” It did make it slightly better that it was a member of the Jones family but was still a scandal, a scandal Baron could not afford to tarnish his well-kept reputation.
“On top of that you are dating her brother! What a f*****g mess!” Baron groaned and sat down thinking of all the problems his daughter got into.
“Dad! I told you I’m sorry!” Cathy burst into tears. She was tired of being nagged about the picture! In her defense, she had no clue that someone was f*****g taking a picture otherwise she would have never done this! f*****g paparazzi, she thought.
In fact, she had done such things several times, but it was the first time that she had been photographed. She was always the goody two-shoes at home but when she went out, she turned into a devil. She had cheated countless times before, but she was smart enough to not get caught. However, if her father knew the things she had done, she would be dead.
Nathan was in the same room watching the debacle. He had to admit his sister had guts. Going after the sister of the guy she was dating let alone from the Jones family, he did not have the balls to do that. He loved his sister even though he found her annoying at times. However, he could not watch her cry.
“Dad, why don’t we say that Laurence and Cathy were together?” said Nathan.
Baron frowned, “What do you mean?”
“Well, look at it from the Jones’ perspective too. This would be a greater scandal for them then it is even for us. So why do not we talk to them and say that Cathy and Laurence were together. We will play along with the story until this all dies down.”
“Will that work?” Baron asked liking the idea.
“It’s worth a try!”
______
Laraine stayed locked in her room all day, staying away from Patrick’s annoying yelling and Marge’s incessant orders. She did not even go down for dinner, so the cook brought a tray up for her, understanding why she was not coming down.
However, the rest only lasted for a day.
Forced by Andrew, she had to run for five kilometers the next morning. Even though she enjoyed running, she was so out of shape that she had to take a break after a few hundred meters. But she could hardly make any complaints about it. What was worse that Andrew was running with her but soon bypassed her and started to run ahead since she was so slow. Laraine just decided to slowly walk back to the house to gain some of her breath.
“Laurence!”
Laraine stopped when she heard a familiar voice behind her. She looked back stiffly and saw a familiar car - a black Mercedes.
A man stepped out of the car looking handsome and friendly. But she knew how ruthless the man was.
She never thought that she would meet Nathan Hill again – her murderer.
