Senior Orientation

“I’m gonna see you later, my princess. Ako ulit ang susundo sa ’yo, okay?” Azure asked her daughter after parking the car, in front of the campus gate.

“Okay, Papa. I’ll go ahead then. Bye!” After a see-you-later-kiss, Nurie gets out of the car.

Matamis na nakangiti lang si Nurie habang hinihintay na makaalis ang sasakyan ng kanyang ama. Kinawayan pa muna siya nito bago isinara ang glass window ng kotse at nagsimulang pinaandar papaalis ang kotse.

Nurie stood there smiling as she waited for the car her father was driving to be out of her sight. Nang masigurong tuluyan nang nakaalis ang ama ay roon lang tumalikod si Nurie. And the gentle and sweet smile was also gone. Instead, a very poker-faced Nurie comes out. Walang-wala at napakalayo sa kung ano man siya kani-kanina lang sa harapan ng mga magulang.

Nagsimula nang maglakad si Nurie papasok sa loob ng campus. Each step she took was full of coldness and elegance. Na kung hindi lang yata dahil sa katotohanang isa siyang omega, ay baka aakalain ng karamihan na isa pala siyang alpha.

Kumpara kasi sa lahat ng omega, si Nurie, ang pinakakakaiba. She doesn’t look weak and fragile, unlike most of the omegas. Not even the submissive type who would always cower in front of an alpha.

Kahit naman anong pilit ni Nurie na maging lie low sa school, hindi pa rin maiiwasan na maging sikat siya kahit papaano. But those little bits of fame are still not enough for everyone to learn the real s****l orientation of Nurie. Iilan nga lang yata ang nakakakilala sa kanya maliban sa mga kaibigan at kaklase na puro galing din sa pack na pinamumunuan ng ama niya. At iilan lang din ang nakaaalam sa kanyang secondary gender, tanging ang dalawang kaibigan niya lang at ilang anak ng elders' ng pack nila.

Because of the alpha air that Nurie unconsciously exudes, and maybe because most of the students know that they should not poke their nose in other people’s business, wala na talagang may pakialam kung omega ba talaga si Nurie at hindi isang alpha.

Kaya naman payapa na narating ni Nurie ang canteen, kung saan lagi siya at ng kanyang dalawa pang kaibigan, na madalas nilang tambayan. Dahil mukhang napaaga siya ng dating ay kakaunti pa lang ang tao sa loob ng canteen. Sigurado rin si Nurie na maya-maya pa ang dating ng dalawa niyang kaibigan, sakto lang kung kailan malapit ng magsimula ang opening ceremony.

Ngayon kasi ang unang araw ng pasukan. At kada mag-uumpisa na ang pasukan ay palaging mayroong ginaganap na opening ceremony sa Noble Crest Academy, ang school kung saan nag-aaral si Nurie at ang iba pang anak ng mga pack sa buong Heathersthorn City.

Ang Noble Crest Academy ang pinakamalaking institution sa buong Heathersthorn City. Kaya naman halos lahat ng mag-aaral dito ay mula sa mga naglalakihang pamilya galing sa iba't ibang pack. Halos lahat din ng mga anak o tagapagmana ng pack ay dito nag-aaral. Kaya naman tuwing unang araw ng pasukan ay nagkakaroon talaga ng opening orientation para sa mga freshmen at para naman sa mga seniors na gagraduate na sa paaralan.

Magkaibang oras ang opening celebration at orientation para sa freshmen at seniors. Mas maaga ang sa freshmen na umaabot ng dalawang oras lang. Samantalang para naman sa seniors ay aabutin ng apat na oras o mahigit pa ang itatagal.

Kumpara kasi sa freshmen, kung saan start up lang at introduction tungkol sa kaibahan ng kanilang s****l orientation. Pati na rin ang ilang mahahalagang bagay tungkol sa shifting na madalas ay naipaliwanag na sa loob pa lang ng pack. Mas komplikado naman ang tungkol sa seniors dahil doon na nagsisimulang magsilabasan ang kani-kanilang distinct gender traits.

First level of education pa lang kasi ang mayroon sa Noble Crest Academy, kung saan mas focus sa educational learning ang pagtuturo. Ilang basics lang ang ipinaaalam sa mga estudyante tungkol sa biological knowledge tungkol sa mga shifters. At sa senior year level naman binibigyan ng orientation tungkol sa mga important information about the distinct gender traits or dynamics katulad na lang ng gender instincts, omega's heats, alpha's ruts, mates, etc.

Sa ganitong edad na kasi nagsisimulang mag-mature ang mga estudyante. And it was also the right age where all these gender traits will manifest as they had the puberty stage.

There are two s****l orientation; the primary gender which is the basic sexuality of an individual commonly classified as male and female. While the other one is the secondary gender that is divided into three presentations.

The first one is the Alpha (α) and it's two sub-gender which are the alpha-dom and the alpha-sub. They are known as the most dominant and territorial when it comes to their second form, but when they shift back into the first form, which is the wolf form, they become the strongest and the fiercest among other genders.

The other one is the Beta, which has a beta-dom and a beta-sub type. A beta-sub leans closely on the omega type while a beta-dom leans on the alpha side. They are generally characterized as the gender between alpha and omega. Ang pinagkaibahan lang nila sa alpha at omega ay hindi sila ganoon kaapektado ng kahit anong dynamics. They can be dominant over an omega or another beta, but compared with an alpha, they are nothing. Either in the first form or the second form.

Lastly, and the most least gender with no dominance over other genders are the Omegas. They are the known as the most submissive gender among the three, yet they have the highest birth rate. So mostly, people think that omegas are only good for giving birth.

The difference between the secondary genders and the gender types is that, any gender who has a -dom type is deemed to be more dominant in both forms. But only to the gender they belonged to. Kabaliktaran naman niyon ang mga -sub type.

This differential treatment really makes Nurie infuriated and mad. Sino ba naman kasi ang matutuwa kung ituturing ka lang na parang isang paanakan na baboy? A birthing tool? It was unacceptable and unfair for an omega, like her.

Kaya naman kahit isa siyang omega, kailan man ay hindi niya ipinakita sa ibang mahina siya. Na hahayaan niya lang na bumaba ang tingin ng mga tao sa kanya. She hates gender discrimination—especially secondary gender discrimination. Na mas ramdam na ramdam sa omega na 'gaya niya.

“Uy, ano ’yang ikinakukunot niyang noo mo?”

Nabalik lang sa sarili si Nurie nang marinig niya ang pamilyar na boses na iyon. She happily turned her back and faced the two people who were standing in front of her.

“Mabuti naman at dumating din kayo,” nakangiting bati ni Nurie sa dalawa.

Sa sobra yatang pag-iisip ni Nurie ay hindi na niya namalayan ang oras. Ilang minuto na pala ang lumipas, kung saan ilang minuto na lang din ay magsisimula na ang opening para sa seniors.

“Naman! I won’t skip this one, okay?” nakairap na sagot naman ng babaeng may itim na buhok.

“Did you wait here for long, Nurie?” nakangiting tanong naman ng babaeng may golden hair color.

Matamis na napangiti naman si Nurie at napatayo sa kinauupuan. She stepped in between the two as she inserted her arms around them.

“Not too long. I’m just early. Let’s go, bago pa tayo ma-late!” she happily exclaimed. Her cold facade turned gentle and sweet. Obviously, she wanted to be spoiled by her dear friends.

“Ah!” the golden-haired young woman exclaimed, and then pinched Nurie’s cheeks. “Kung hindi ka lang talaga engaged, I will propose marriage to you!” she then playfully added.

Nurie cringed after hearing her friend’s joke. Mabilis na naialis niya ang isang braso niya rito at naiyakap iyon lahat sa isa pang kaibigan.

“I know it’s just a joke, and I am not against homosexuality, but— brr! No homo with friends, please,” nakangiwi pa ring saad nito sa kaibigan na tinawanan lang naman siya.

HALOS LAHAT ng estudyante ay nakatingin sa stage, kung nasaan nakatayo ang speaker na siyang gaya ng pakilala ng Principal ay ang pangulo lang naman ng ABO Society Committee at representante ng kanilang Heathersthorn City. Tahimik silang lahat na nakatitig lang kay Mr. Augery, ang nag-iisang red wolf sa buong Heathersthorn City, at marahil pati sa ibang kalapit na siyudad.

Ang mga red wolf kasi na katulad ni Mr. Augery ay itinuturing na bilang isang legend. Sila kasi ang mga natitirang pure werewolves o ang mga werewolves na anak ng Moon Goddess. Marami ang na-engganyo at halos lahat ay nagpasailalim ng fertility test na iyon.

Ang hindi alam ng lahat ay may side effects pala iyon. Lahat ng infants na ipinanganak ng bawat she-wolf ay nagkaroon ng problema sa kanilang mga katawan. Ang mabilis na pag-acquire ng kanilang scents, ang pag-aktong parang mga rogue kung saan hindi nila magawang kontrolin ang kanilang wolf, at marami pa na siyang nagpabahala na sa lahat.

Doon nga muling nag-imbestiga ang institute at nalaman nila ang problema. Ginawan nila ng paraan ang lahat hanggang sa maiayos nila ang lahat ng impormasyon bago inilabas sa publiko. At doon na nga nagkaroon ng dalawang gender—ang kanyang physical sexuality o ’yong babae at lalaki, at ang second gender kung saan binubuo ng tatlong classification. Iyon na nga ang Alpha, Beta, at Omega.

Dahil dito ay hindi lang nagalit ang ilang alpha, kung ‘di maging ang Moon Goddess ay nagalit. Hinayaan ng Moon Goddess ang mga ito at doon nagkaroon ng malawakang digmaan. Lahat ng pack sa mundo ay sumali sa digmaan kung saan inuna nila ang bawat institution. Halos maubos nang tuluyan ang werewolves at tanging mga maliliit na sanggol na lang ang natira. Ilan na sa mga iyon ay ang mga red wolves na bumuo ng Heathersthorn City. Kasama ang ilang natitirang infants na mula sa institute ay binuo nila ang Heathersthorn City sa kung ano man ito ngayon.

Ayon iyon sa history classes na itinuturo sa bawat paaralan sa Heathersthorn. Hindi naman kasi sigurado kung namamana ba ang pagiging pure-blooded werewolf, dahil ilang libong taon na ang lumipas mula nang mabuo ang Heathersthorn City mula sa wala. Halos lahat ng populasyon sa mundo ay binubuo na ng mga shifter wolves, kaya wala ring makapagsasabi kung descendants ba ng founder ng Heathersthorn si Mr. Augery. Basta ang importante, ang city nila ay mayroong buhay na pulang shifter para protektahan ang siyudad sa mga balak manakop ng teritoryo nila.

Naniniwala kasi ang lahat na ang sino mang siyudad na mayroong dugo mula sa isang pure blooded wolf ay pagpapalain pa rin ng Moon Goddess. So, although Mr. Augery is not the leader of the Heathersthorn City, he was still treated as one of the leaders and the biggest person in the whole city of Heathersthorn.

“Good day, senior shifters. I am thanking everyone for attending this very important orientation ceremony for you all. I know that most of you were already notified by your parents of what the discussion in this orientation is about, so I won’t prolong your wait. Let me start the opening ceremony without delay.” Matapos nang sinabing iyon ni Mr. Augery, dalawang pares ng babae at lalaki ang umakyat sa stage. The two pairs stood on either side of Mr. Augery. “To make everything clearer, we have here your alumni seniors who were already mated with each other, as an example. And they were all graduating students from your dear alma mater, Noble Crest Institute.” Then Mr. Augery nodded to the pair on his right side.

Seeing that, the two also nodded back at Mr. Augery before shifting to their wolf form. The man turned into a brown wolf, while the woman turned into a gray wolf.

The gray wolf walked forward, and so did the other female from the other pair. The two stood in the middle, side by side.

“Everyone knew about the three presentations of secondary gender aside from the primary one that we had since we are born. Alpha, beta, and omega. Each gender has sub-type which are a -dom and a -sub. Let’s first discuss the difference between the two and their effects on each gender. -Sub types will be inferior only to the same secondary gender. For example, an Alpha. Being an alpha-sub doesn’t mean you are also inferior to the beta-dom or omega-dom. Sub and dom just differentiate an alpha from another alpha. So that, if two alphas, with same sexuality are mated, it would not be deemed as something wrong, since one is for sure inferior with the other. And that applies the same with a female and male alpha being together. Since we all know that alphas are repulsive with the same gender. This rule applies with the other genders too. Pero mayroong kaibahang dala ang mga sub-types na ito sa mga beta at omega. Aside from being more dominant or inferior, it also affects their fertility rate. To betas, being a sub means a higher probability of fertility, although they will be more inferior with other betas. While to omegas, being a dom is both higher in status and fertility. But they are rare just like how golden fur alpha is rare.”

Mr. Augery then moves forward and stops at the side of the woman. “These two are both -subs. The senior in wolf form is an alpha-sub, while the senior in the second form is an omega-sub. I will discuss with you now the difference between heat and an estrus. Heat will happen when the person is in the human form. They will act like when a wolf is having an estrus, but they will not shift. While an estrus is more dynamic and complicated, it can only happen when the sub is forced into heat after smelling the pheromone that is from the person’s pair. I hope, may idea na ang lahat tungkol sa pairs, so I won’t explain that more. Pero h’wag niyong kalilimutan na iba ang mate sa pair. Mate is like a marriage, either by love or by fate. While pairs are naturally tied couples. A couple tied by fate. Sounds cliché and sweet, but it is a rare type of mates. Much rarer than me being a red wolf.”

Rinig na rinig naman ang pagkamangha ng bawat isa sa narinig. Some exclaimed loudly, while others gasped in admiration. Hindi naman maiwasang mapangiti ni Mr. Augery nang makita niya ang mga reaksyon ng bawat isa.

“Anyway, as I was saying, estrus mostly happens when a pair meets each other. It was like an automatic key, to show that a pair found each other. So it is more powerful since anyone who could smell the scent that was released by the person in estrus would also be forced into heat, to the point that they will also shift into their wolf form. And if the person having an estrus is not mated by the said pair, there is a high possibility that the person will deteriorate mentally and physically, might go mental and in the end, die early,” Mr. Augery seriously stated.

Mula sa kaalaman nila tungkol sa mga heats at estrus ng mga alpha-sub, omega, at beta-sub, mga dapat nilang gawin kapag nakararanas ng kanilang heats, the importance of suppressants, and the difference between the rut of alpha-doms to the heat of alpha-sub.

After Mr. Augery, another person from the ABO Committee came on stage to explain the classifications of the other gender instincts. And lastly, it was the academy principal who had come to explain the start of each pack's initiation rites, for the next alpha leader. Dahil nga sa maraming estudyante sa paaralan na mula sa naglalakihang pack sa siyudad ay pinaalalahanan ng principal ang mga next alpha na maghanda sa paparating na initiation rites. Matapos noon ay doon lang sila isa-isang pinalabas sa field at pinapasok sa kanya-kanyang classrooms.
