Chapter 6. The Vanilla Thing

C H A S T I T Y Year 2010 18 years old When Lachlan pressed the elevator button number five, it caused me a stir and an absolute surprise because the fifth floor was actually consisting of the most expensive and the biggest dorms of the entire dormitory building. Residents in the fifth floor were not only allowed to be in other floors but they were only allowed to access the sixth floor where we can find the other expensive amenities which had the freaking big indoor Olympic swimming pool which was online exclusive for the fifth floor residents. The outdoor pool was for the residents living on the first to fourth floors to separate the real hierarchy of the entire student's family background and wealth. So you see, the fifth floor residents were the real deal in this university. They were the filthy rich ones around. But wait, there are more things that you would need to know about the amenities for these rich bastards who live off of their mom and dad’s wealth and influence. The fifth floor residents did not only have a massive indoor pool for leisure or lesson related exercises on the right wing of the entire 6th floor, but also had an enormous and high end study room compared to the residents from the first floor to the fourth floor. They even have a larger common room on the left wing which was unbelievable to be honest, I mean how big do these rich kids want a room to be? Not only that, fifth floor residents have their own personal bathrooms and showers in their own rooms, as if they were staying in a freaking hotel, unlike the lower floors which are shared shower rooms and common bathrooms respectively between males and females. The university’s U-shaped plane dorm buildings all have this type of hierarchy system by floors. The wealthier the students, the higher the floor. The wealthiest students dwell on the fifth floor, and they all have distinctively gold key cards far different from us, the students who reside on the second through fourth floors which only had white ones. First floor students do not even have key cards because we could not access other floors as the keycards were designed per student and their floor accessibility depends on their paid dorm. “Where do you think you are letting me sleep, huh?” I chimed angrily because right now, I was not only feeling cold underneath the hoodie but also I am feeling really absolutely tired. “I told you I live in the dorms on the first floor.” “You think I will allow you to sleep in the study room on the first floor and let creepy guys do something to you? Huh?” He asked as he looked at me from the corner of his eyes, “The answer is no if you are not so smart.” I wanted to fight him back with something insulting but then I realized what he said was actually…thoughtful. Ew, did I just mentally tell myself that he was thoughtful? “Do not feel too special, Skunky,” He sounded cocky now, with that stupidly devilish annoying grin on his face, “I am doing this for your older brother. He will kill me if I let you sleep there.” “Do not worry. I did not even find you that thoughtful.” I was contradicting my thoughts. “Aren’t you that witty?” He subtly pinched my cheek while I smacked his hand away. “And where am I going to sleep on the freaking floor, huh, Smug Face? The hallway?” I raised my voice at him. He gently pinched my cheek, “You are dangerously so adorable and so annoying when you are mad and glaring at me, Skunky.” He grinned mischievously while still pinching my cheek. As the elevator arrived on the fifth floor, I moved his hand away from my face and followed him through the red carpeted hall of the fifth floor, which was utterly unlike the hallway on the first floor. In contrast to the first floor hallway, which smelt like perspiration and dry air, this hallway had a wonderful and extremely rich perfume that gave the impression that I was in a very luxurious hotel. I tried to listen and I could not even hear a single sound from all the rooms which immediately gave me the impression that the rooms here were probably soundproof. We continued down the hallway until we arrived at dorm room number seven, when I noticed a tall, muscular man standing outside the door carrying what appeared to be a big object. He was dressed in a black suit and tie with black leather shoes with very well-coiffed hair. The man in the black suit and tie had widened eyes as soon as he saw Lachlan and I think he was shocked to see him in his short shorts. He cleared his throat, “Young Master Lachlan.” The man greeted with utmost respect as his eyes traveled towards me with slightly raising brows on his forehead and acknowledged my presence while nodding downwards once at me. But my eyes widened immediately, “Young Master??” then traveled my head towards Lachlan as the words scared the bejesus out of me. Lachlan smirked, “I really am sure now that Myles did not tell you about me. I am gutted.” He narrated before looking back at the man. “Ralph, you did not have to come here to bring me my books.” He swiped his gold keycard to the door and immediately opened his front door. “But your father instructed me to bring it personally to–” “To make sure that I arrived and did not escape, yada yada.” Lachlan cut him off as he entered his dorm room but I stayed in the hallway together with the guy in black suit and tie whose name is Ralph. I am now trying to figure out who this person is because, in all honesty, I mistreated him a lot, yelled at him, I think I cussed at him, I am certain I smacked his hand off, and, Jesus Christ, I was so incredibly rude toward him without even realizing that he was a freaking Young Master. Which family is he even a Young Master to? Why on earth didn’t Myles tell me more about him and who he is? What happens if this person is a mafia boss’ son? Or a senator’s son, or… MY GOD, the nation’s President’s son? Or the heir of a massive global company that conducts business across all industries in the entire world? “Skunky come on in.” I hear Lachlan. “Skun.. ky?” Ralph’s voice decreased as he slowly looked at me. “Not you Ralph,” Lachlan popped out of his door, with a shirt on and looked at me, “I didn’t know you were deaf.” My brows immediately creased, “I am not going to sleep in there! And most definitely not with a man like you!” Lachlan sighed heavily and walked towards me, even before I could react or say anything, he covered my mouth with his hand and carried me over his shoulder as if I was like a paperweight. I tried to scream against his hand and wiggled my legs so he would release me but he was already locking my legs together with his muscular arm as he instructed, “Ralph, just get her luggage then you can leave right after.” He walked into his dorm room, still carrying me, “Oh and tell my father and my mother that I am settled in and I am no longer a f*****g child.” “Yes, Young Master.” Ralph answered immediately. Finally, Lachlan was now putting me down as soon as my luggage was inside and the front door was locked. I stared at him angrily as he was just grinning evilly at me which was annoying me so much right now. I glared at him angrily as he told me, “Come on now, Skunky, do not look at me like that. It is so sexy.” He grinned wider. I really wanted to yell at him, slap him, and call him derogatory names, but I was reminded of how different our social statuses were. He was unquestionably extremely wealthy, whereas I am the exact opposite. But then I heard a voice in the back of my head telling me that I had to stand up for my rights despite how drastically different our social statuses were. But then again, he picked me up earlier in that shady vicinity, let me wear this really enormous hoodie, and then drove me back to the dormitory, but he additionally coerced me to come here in his dorm room against my will but still doing this because he said he did not want me to sleep in the first floor’s study room because of some freaky or creepy guy who would potentially assault me. “I cannot be here in this same room with you.” I sounded calmer. “Too bad because your brother already allowed it.” “MYLES WHAT?!” My voice kind of raised at him in absolute horror as my eyes widened. He pulled his phone out, opened the message exchange he had with my brother and the words, ‘Can you let my little sister sleep in your dorm, dude? Just until she can find a different dorm. I do not trust any single guy in that dorm building but you. I will owe you big time for this.’ “He did not just–” I cut myself off from what I was saying as soon as I read Lachlan’s reply to my brother which read, ‘Your little sister is absolutely not my kind of woman. I do not date minors.’ I pulled my head up from him and was immediately reminded that he was really pretty tall, “I am not a minor!” He smirked, “Oh, are you insinuating that I can date you?” Ugh!! This smug! I swear to God there is no way to win around him in terms of being stupid. “What! No! You are not my type either!!” I had a lame comeback but then I added, “And by the way, I am legally considered an adult because I am eighteen.” He chuckled under his throat, “Great because I do not do the vanilla thing.” “Vanilla?” “That means I do not do the dating for emotional connection thing, dumdum.” He pinched the tip of my nose as he chuckled softly under his throat. I smacked his hand away so he could stop pinching my nose as he continued to smile mischievously and dangerously handsome at me as I stared at the scar on the right corner of his lips. “I know what it meant, frog eyes.” I gave him another pet name which was just out of the context even though he did not really have a pair of frog eyes. “Frog–” He just laughed as he walked past me and I assumed that he lay on his bed. “You better start getting a warm shower and oh, you owe me breakfast tomorrow morning.” I turned to him and was about to reach but my eyes widened immediately as soon as I saw only one freaking bed in the entire dorm room. “One bed?!” I raised my voice, “You are kidding me.” He looked more and more smug with that stupidly annoying grin. “Nope, babe.” “But… I… I thought there were two beds and–” “Well you know Skunky, all rooms here on the fifth floor are single beds and the other floors are mixed. So, from the right wing all the way to the left wing, here, on this floor, are all single bed dorms.” He smirked. I exhaled heavily and found myself more frustrated and disappointed with the entire scenario, but then compared to my roommate on the first floor, at least this guy knows my brother, and he trusts Lachlan. “Who are you anyway?” I finally asked. “Why did you have someone bring your books?” “I am very surprised that you do not know me, Skunky. All women and men know me.” He responded boastfully with a smile as he was scanning through channels on the TV. “Well, my name is Lachlan Lionel Spetzler Knox.” I was horrified. “KNOX?” I mimicked as he nodded. “Spetzler Knox?!” He nodded again to respond as his jade green eyes were focused on the television. “Mm-hmm.” He answered. “Do not tell me that your father is Doctor Philippe Hopkins Knox? The current owner of the entire Atlas Knox Group?” I could feel my entire body being electrocuted from where I was just standing. “Yup.” He responded calmly. Oh God, just murder me.
