Chapter 8

ADELAIDE

I finished my food and his help, the older woman led me straight to the guest room and made a bath for me to wash myself.

The house was very pretty and the bedroom was even prettier. I thought that I had seen a lot of beautiful designs when I was still living in the human world but these people has taught me that they were very much as evolved as we are.

The room screamed of nothing but class. It had a touch of nature mixed with the present decorations. Maybe they did that to get comfortable with their animal side cause I can remember that even Alpha Vikson had structured the furniture of his house to look like this.

Was it a wolf thing or did they have the same taste in furniture.

Rolling my eyes dreamily, I stepped into the tub and washed myself clean. The Beta had promised to take me back home and even though the Renage pack was the last place on my mind to be, I'd still prefer it than being here when my so called mate had rejected me even to the point of wanting absolutely nothing to do with me.

I finished cleaning myself and proceeded to wear the dress that his help had picked out for me. It was a silky flowing gown and was very comfortable to wear. The fabric provided me with the warmth that I needed and I was happy about that fact.

I pushed the covers off the bed and laid down to sleep but for some reason, sleep eluded my eyes. My brain was thinking and calculating.

My mind drifted back to what he had said at the hospital. Does it mean that I would never get to see him again?

Will he find a second chance mate to replace me as his beta had said?

I didn't want it to bother me but somehow it did. I hate myself for feeling this way and it pains me to know that there is nothing I can do about it.

I don't know what happened next but I woke up to the sound of loud screaming and noises coming from outside my bedroom.

I wondered what was going on at the moment. Was there an attack on the Druid pack? Was the Beta in trouble?

Forcing myself to stand up, I made my way downstairs towards the noise and that's when I recognized the voices. It was Alpha Vikson as well as his Luna Deli.

Fear coursed through me at that moment.

What were they doing here? How did they manage to find me.

"There she is. The stupid girl" she yelled at the top of his voice when she spotted me. Rushing towards me, she draggee down from the staircase that I almost lost my footing.

Eric was quick enough to catch me before I came In contact with the cold hard surface.

"How dare you Adelaide?" She spat at me. Alpha Vikson stared at me with anger and hatred but he didn't say anything. His Luna was the only one ranting on his behalf.

"How dare you run away from the party without finding a way to get back to us?"

"I tried to come back but–" I tried to defend myself but she slapped me hard on the cheeks that I saw stars.

"Excuses, Excuses." She mocked "You left just to make us look bad to Alpha Ivan didn't you. I'll show you..." She raised her hands to hit me but Eric caught it mid air and pushed her away slightly.

"You are in my home Luna. Control yourself or I might just make you." He threatened with a solemn look on his face.

She threw her face away angrily and for that moment, I was happy that someone had stepped in to help me. It has never happened before.

"We'll take our leave first" Alpha Vikson announced and walked out of the house leaving us to follow.

I was a bit hesitant after the Luna joined her husband but I forced myself to walk after them because I didn't have that much of a choice.

"You can stay here if you want to Adelaide." Eric stopped me with his words. "I will make sure that nothing happens to you and they won't ever have to hurt you again."

The offer was very tempting but I shook my head "No Sir. You've done so much for me by letting me stay here with you but if I don't leave, they'll throw a fit and I don't want to be the reason why two packs would become sworn enemies. It's better that I go with them."

By the time I was done explaining, my eyes were already flooding with tears. I cried for the torture that awaited me at home and I cried for all the bad things that had been going on In my life. As if it wasn't enough to be captured by these animals, I still have to endure the torture that came with it. I still have to suffer. It sucks to be me and I recently just came to terms with that particular fact.

"Alright then. I'm sorry that I couldn't be of help Adelaide. I pray that the goddess be with you"

I gave a sad smile "It's not your fault sir. People like me were not birthed to find happiness."

And with that, I turned and walked out of his house.

I found the Alpha and his Luna waiting for me with a scrowl on their faces.

Something deep inside me knows that this night is far from over.

We arrived home after leaving the Beta's Mansion. The drive was approximately three hours and the minute we arrived, they threw me out of the car ordered the guards to throw me in the cellar without food and water for three days.

The next morning, I was lying down on the cold ground of the Cellar. My stomach was grumbling and I haven't had anything to eat.

Soon enough, The gates to the cell burst open and Luna Deli walked in with her daughter Emerald. They stared at me with nothing but disdain and anger.

"How dare you Adelaide. How dare you let the Alpha take you to his house you moron." She growled spitefully at me.

I was too weak to speak so I just let her continue with her rants. My body was aching badly and I didn't sleep properly last night as well.

"Do you know how long I've wanted him to notice me and you just went with him? You Shameless w***e!" She swore at me "You wanted him for yourself didn't you?"

I wanted to tell them that I was only in his house because her brother tried to sexually harass me at the party but I snapped my mouth shut. Saying that would only add to the punishment. They would call me a liar and the consequences would be dire.

"Why did you go with him b***h!" she grabbed my hair and pulled aggressively almost uprooting my scalp. It hurts so much but I bit my lips to suck In the pain.

"Adelaide, if you don't talk, then we'll make you." Her mother, Luna Deli threatened me with a fierce look on her face.

"I fainted at the party." I cried "And Alpha Ivan took me to his pack because he said that I was his mate. I don't even know what it means but he also rejected me as well. I swear that I wanted to come back home but I couldn't. Eric offered to bring me back before you came to his house."

The room went silent for a while and the next thing I heard was the sound of emerald's piecing laughter.

"This is so funny." She said between laughs "You are Alpha Ivan's mate? And he rejected you? Can you believe this mother? Even the almighty Alpha wants absolutely nothing to do with you. You're worthless and I'm very sure that he realized that fact as well."

"Tsk tsk tsk" Luna Deli clicked her tongue as she crouched next to me "Even the goddess didn't take pity on you because you are a spiteful b***h. I'm glad that the Alpha threw you out of his life and now you're back to serving us again."

"I didn't do anything wrong." I sniffed, unable to look them in the eyes. I am pretty sure that everyone would find out about this. Emerald would make sure that she ruins my name and bring my already tarnished reputation to the mud.

"Of course you didn't."

Turning to the guards she spoke "Starve her for another day. Do not give her even a drop of water to drink. I want her to think about what she has done and learn from her mistakes."

"Yes my lady." They replied in unison.

"Come my child, let's leave the trash to their cans."

Holding Emerald's hands, they walked out of the cellar.

At that moment, I broke down completely. With tears in my eyes, I cursed the Alpha for putting me into this mess. If he hadn't taken me with him then I'm pretty sure that I won't be in this mess today.
