Konrad's POV
I woke up early in the morning and prepared myself for the teleconference. Dad was insistent last night that I should be part of it, though it was not about our territory business. He said something about the first alpha female being introduced at the meeting and I should take note of her speech. As if I don't have my own shít to deal with. What will she help me with, anyway? But I...
‘Only a dumb áss like you would whine instead of looking forward to new opportunities.’ Dutch chimed in, interrupting my thoughts.
‘Good morning to you too, Dutch.’ I shook my head sideways as I walked to dad's office.
He raised his finger to his lips, motioning for me to keep quiet, and sit on the chair in front of his office desk. Alpha Kai introduced his daughter, Wilona Ward. The one dad was raving about last night. I inclined my head towards the speakerphone, listening to Wilona talking. Something about her voice caught my senses. I instantly took out my phone and looked her up on the internet. Her soft, melodic voice made me imagine her features in my mind since all her social media accounts didn’t have pictures of her.
A name, Zara Oxborn, popped on my screen, and I clicked the picture of two young females. Both had short spikey hair, but the one with bleached-coloured hair cut on the side in mohawk style caught my curiosity. Her magnetic almond eyes shook my wolf, enticing heat sizzling down my spine. My muscles shuddered in this foreign sensation.
‘She is beautiful.’ Dutch spoke, swooning over the picture.
I was about to respond to my wolf when Alpha Kai spoke, and I quickly slid my phone into my jacket.
“We have Alpha Ross of the Cyclone Moon pack over the phone and he wants to say something,” He said.
I watched dad’s dull face when he spoke about the invites he sent to the other alphas. I was appalled by what he said at the end and my jaws slacked. He hung up and glared at me.
“What’s with the look? That girl is going to be the first female alpha on our island, and having her at your coronation might challenge your lazy sister to pull up her socks.” He said, clicking his tongue in annoyance.
“Dad, if Isa does not want to be part of the pack businesses it’s her choice. I thought you were listening to that girl talking about appreciating your children.” I sighed, relaxing my back on the chair.
“Don’t get so comfortable. This is still my office and Beta Arvin is waiting for you downstairs.” He told me as he pointed his finger at the door, as mom entered his office.
I clenched my jaws and walked out.
“Oh, Konrad, make sure you take your sister with you.” He said as I closed the door with irritation.

‘Are you still angry at your mother for chasing your girlfriend out of the house the day she left for goddess knows where?’ Dutch barked a laugh.
‘I am still pissed, but soon everything will change.’ I replied while opening Isaldina’s bedroom door.
She screamed as she quickly got off whoever was in her bed and pulled the duvet to cover herself.
“What the fùck, Konrad?” She exclaimed.
I ignored her remark and walked towards the fidgeting figure hiding under her covers and I swiftly removed it. I knew she was old enough to do whatever she wants but I can’t witness such things and feel good about it.
“Richart, what the hell. I thought you said you came here for your m… ate?” I spoke as my eyes widened in realisation. “You were fùcking talking about my sister?” I asked him, and he gave me a wide grin. Richart and I met when my father was visiting his pack as part of his field visits across the province. Since then, we became close and planned to strengthen our alliance with agricultural projects.
“Do you think you were going to let me in your territory if I said, hey Konrad, I am here because your sister is my mate?” He replied, raising his left eyebrow at me.
I huffed, throwing the cover back at him, and walked to the door.
“What were you looking for before you disturbed our fun?” Isaldina spoke with a giggle. Damn, I don’t even want to know why she is giggling. I twisted the doorknob, then turned to look at them.
“Never mind, you already had your cortisol reduced.” I replied and strode out of the room, closing the door behind me.

I walked into the training room where dad’s beta was busy sparring with two of the warriors and smirked when he punched one on the nose and flipping him in the air before smashing him into the padded floor, knocking the wind out of him. I sat on the bench ready to take off my shoes when fast padding feet echoed the room.
“Alpha Konrad, this came for you.” I lifted my eyes to a short man standing in front of me.
I extended my hand, taking the small grey box and opened it. A pair of socks and a note were inside and I opened the note.
‘Hi babe, I hope I get to take them off on your coronation night. Gil.’ It said.
I grinned and put the black socks with I miss you print on them inside the box with the note and went to the centre.
“Getting your early present from the ghost, I see.” A gruff voice sounded behind me and I turned around with a smirk.

I sat in the dining room on the triangular table with my family, watching Richart’s deep-set grey eyes piercing into my sister with love. All I could think about was his brawny figure naked in my sister’s bed. I grimaced at the vision.
‘That will teach you to knock next time.’ Isa’s voice sounded in my head and I stared at her. She was snickering.
‘I doubt there will be a next time.’ I growled.
“I heard you received socks this afternoon.” Isa teased, and I glared at her. When is she going to learn to shut her mouth?
“What gift?” Mom asked thickly.
Isa shrugged, pointing her finger at me. “He got a pair of socks from Gillian.” She said without remorse. I scowled at her and Richart growled, but I ignored him.
“I can’t believe you fell for that vile of a girl.” Mom spoke with disdain.
I glanced at dad hoping he will stop her but he just shrugged his shoulders when he realises the veins on her forehead protruding. ‘Son, let her speak her mind or better yet, just keep quiet. She will give up.’ Dad mind-linked me. I flared my nostrils as I looked at her. Why is she always acting so strange about Gillian?
‘You should consider talking to her instead of being a dumb brat.’ Dutch piped in.
‘Over my fuckíng dead body.’ I growled, making him retreat to the back of my mind, grumbling ‘Coward.’ at me.
“I hope she stays wherever she is, for eternity.” She gulped her glass of wine.
“Mom, when are you going to let your nonsense go? I am sick of it.” I retorted, hitting my fist on the table, startling Isaldina. She looked at me sheepishly, then took Richart’s hand and walked out of the dining room. I tapped my foot on the floor looking hard at mom, tightening my jaws with fury boiling my blood.
“Konrad, show some respect. You even disregarded your sister’s visitor.” Dad growled at me with disappointment.
Mom smirked, and I stood up hastily with a rumble, then marched to my room.
‘Son, you need to learn to control your emotions.’ Dad echoed in my head, and I scoffed, opening my bedroom door, nearly ripping it off its hinges and slamming it shut. I kicked off my shoes and slumped on the bed, thinking about the only person I wish was here.
