    I gathered everything onto a tray and went to the bedroom. Lucien was sitting against the wall now. Just being cleaner seemed to make him feel better. I closed the door with my foot and went to sit in front of him.     “That smells amazing.” He whispered as his stomach growled.     “I didn’t have butter, but I made a kind of passible margarine.” I told him and set the tray on his lap.     He sniffed the juice. “Carrots?”     “It’s good for you, Lucien. Just drink it. I have to work on purifying the well water before I can give you any. I plan to check the stream tomorrow to see if it’s any better.”     Lucien ate with gusto.
