Elizabeth turned her face back to the mirror in front of her. “I don’t think it’s any of your business, if I repeat outfits or not.” She said, as she applied lipgloss on her lips. The lady walked up to Elizabeth and started talking. “Well it’s my business, because-“ Elizabeth quickly picked up her bag and walked out. She didn’t wait for the red-haired witch to finish her sentence. ‘I don’t have the time for all these nonsense, I have a lot of important things to think about.’ She thought, as she walked to her office. When she settled down on her seat, she pulled out her phone from her bag and unlocked it. She gasped, when she saw several missed calls from her family. She had not checked her phone since when she went to pick up Alexander from the bar, and the phone was on silence. “How could I have forgotten to call my parents and informed them that I was not going home last night.” She said to herself, as she slammed her palm on her forehead. She quickly dialed her dad’s number and he picked at first ring. “Where the hell have you been Elizabeth?!” He asked, with a stern voice. She could feel the anger in his voice, but the voice also had a hint of worries in it. “I am sorry Dad, I should have called you. We had a little issue at work and I had to stay back and get it solved.” She said. She couldn’t tell her that what really happened. She couldn’t tell him that her boss had passed out, and she had to take him to his house. And she also slept on the same bed with her boss, even though nothing happened. “So, where are you now?” He asked, his voice was more calm. “I am at work.” She replied. “At work?!” He exclaimed. “Are you not supposed to come back home and rest after staying there all night?” “No Dad.” She said. “I still have a lot of things to do.” “Well, they better pay you handsomely for working overtime.” He said. “And I hope this is not going to continue everyday.” “No, Dad. It’s just toda…” she had not completed her sentence when she heard footsteps. She turned to look at the source of the footsteps and she saw Alexander coming in. “I would see you at home later.” She quickly said, and hung up. “Welcome sir.” She said, as she stood up from her seat. Alexander was looking all fresh and clean, his hair was shining and perfectly styled backwards. She could remember how rough he hair was that morning. she wondered how he managed to dress up within that time frame and reach the office at 7AM sharp, looking really good. He glared at her and walked inside his office without giving her a response. “Well, that’s not my business.” She said, inwardly and continued working on the file that was on her desk. When she was done with the documents, she packed them and took them with her to his office. “I am done with these ones, sir.” She said, as she placed them on his luxurious glass desk. He didn’t even raise up his head to look at her. But when she turned to leave, he asked. “quando è il mio prossimo programma?” “Excuse me?” She said, she was confused. “Did you learn what I gave to you yesterday?” He asked. “I had to tak-“ she tried to explain, but he cut her off, mid sentence. “That’s not the question, I asked you. Did you learn it? Yes? Or no?” He said, sternly. “No, I couldn’t.” She replied. “What am I going to do with your incompetence?” He said, as he carefully placed his finger on his chin, thoughtfully. “Have you forgotten?” She asked, and continued. “I was the one who took you home from the bar last night, while you were drunk. You stopped me from going home, you begged me to stay. I was to one who held you in my arms while you had a nightmare last night. I was the one who comforted you, when you were scared as hell. Now tell me sir, how could I have studied the book you gave to me? When I couldn’t even get enough sleep, because I was with you.” What nonsense are you saying?” He asked. “I never asked you to stay back.” “Yes, you did. You literally begged me.” She stated. “What?” He said, he had a confused look on his face. He had not remembered. “The least you could do is thank me, but you chose to call me incompetent because I sacrificed my sleep for you.” She said. “Well, that’s part of your job. You should be able to sacrifice your sleep. You are my secretary, and I pay you.” He stated. Elizabeth gawked at him, she was utterly flabbergasted. When she managed to find her words, she said. “I guess I didn’t go through the contract well, before signing it. Because I didn’t sign up for this!” She looked into his eyes, but there was no hint of remorse in it. “No one should hear about the nightmare part, you weren’t supposed to know.” He said. “I must have been really crazy for me to ask you to stay.” “What was I even thinking?“ he asked himself. He proceeded to reply himself. “Oh right, I was drunk. But you failed to understand that.” Elizabeth just stood there, looking at him in disbelief. When he didn’t get any response from her, he said. “When is my next schedule? That was what I asked you in Italian.”
