It’s been two months since Elizabeth started working with Alexander, and everything has changed between them. The re-introduction that happened the night they went to Andrew’s old restaurant—which has now been renovated—set the mood between them.
The overworking and his arrogance toward her had stopped completely. Even though she was still curious and wondered why he changed all of a sudden, she decided not to question him and just go with the flow.
Questioning him might make him change his mind, and that was the last thing she wanted. She enjoyed the peace and serenity that came with him being nice to her.
They worked on different projects together, solved a lot of puzzles, and they did make a great team.
He only realized how talented and smart she was when he gave her the chance to show it to him. Although she was a little bit clumsy.
Today is Monday, and Elizabeth has just resumed work.
Placing her bag on her desk, she strode to Alexander’s office for their routine Monday morning meetings.
She knocked on the door and pushed it open without even waiting for Alexander to give her permission to enter his office. Yes, they had gotten that close.
"Good morning, Mr. Henderson." She greeted him as she closed the door and walked towards his glass desk. "I look forward to the day I’ll get to this office before you. No matter how early I come, you are always here first."
"Well, I believe that that day would never come." He said, a face-splitting grin tugging his lips apart. He didn’t know why, but Elizabeth was the only one capable of making him smile like that.
She pulled the visitor's chair out and sat on it. "Do you even rest at all?"
"You know I have to work extra hard for this company to keep excelling." He eased back in his seat. "But of course, I do try my best to take enough rest." He did the pinch gesture. "Just enough."
"Well. I hope so, because remember what they said about Jack?" A smile curled on her lips. "All work without play makes Jack a dull boy."
"I know that, and I can never be dull. Forever smart." He boasted, and they both laughed.
They had their routine Monday morning meeting afterward, and when they finished, Alexander leapt to his feet and walked over to the coffee machine. He wanted to make coffee for himself and maybe for Elizabeth as well.
Picking a mug from the cupboard
mounted on the wall in the coffee area, he turned to look at her. "Coffee?"
"Yes." She replied as she leapt to her feet and inched closer to him. "Let me make it for you, sir."
"No, I’ll do it." He protested.
"I believe it’s one of my jobs to make you comfortable, right? And this is one of the ways." She quickly snatched the mug from him before he could protest further. "So please let me do it."
Sighing in defeat, he stepped aside for her to go on with making the coffee.
But he didn’t leave immediately. He stood there, his gaze fixed on her as he watched her fill the coffee maker with water, with his manhood throbbing under its covers. Over the past two months, he had grown attracted to her in an alarming way and he hated it.
"You can go and sit down while I brew the coffee sir." She said, cutting through his thoughts.
"Oh yeah." He scratched the back of his neck. "I’ll be on the sofa."
Without bothering to look at him, she nodded her head in response.
Clasping his hands behind his back, he walked away from her and strode to the black leather sofa inside his office, hoping she didn’t catch him staring lustfully at her.
